  1. Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well.
    🐘 MAMMOTHS AND MICE..AND EVERYTHING NICE? 🐘

🎶 Matty told Hatty, about a thing she saw…Had two big horns and a wooly jaw…WOOLY BULLY, Wooly Bully, Wooly Bully…🎶 “Wooly Bully” – Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs 1965 https://tinyurl.com/y3za4crf

🐘 The intertwining of the trunks, GULLY-like to a rube
The Mammoths tusks STRUM up against some sort of fluted tube…
There is no KITTEN nor MINNOW…But do you think there’s musking?
Is there an odor emanates as they are MULTI-“TUSKING”? 🐘

MULTI-“TUSKING”, indeed! Who would have guessed that using MAMMOTHS https://tinyurl.com/y6pwpckx to explain Science could be this HUGE? Well it is, thanks to the brainchild of our final Guest Jumbler of the week, David Macaulay… https://tinyurl.com/gmbz9h6. But as of this writing, in the spirit of full disclosure, I must admit that “Mammoth Science”, which just hit the bookstores three months ago, hadn’t yet grabbed my attention..So instead of trying to bully my way through it, I’m going to direct you all to the DK Website where the book’s for sale, https://tinyurl.com/yy6b4q9v and where you can click through on the thumbnails to the right, to see some of David’s amazing illustrations…Never one to be big on Science, I do think that with a book like this I may have taken more of an interest…

Oh, our words…Nothing new to report here, with three of our four having appeared last year, and TINKET, the sole repeat anagram, last seen on June 21st. https://tinyurl.com/y4ryf423 And there was just the slightest bit of a pause at MINNOW, where 2 of the Early Birds floundered around a little before reeling it in. Ok…on to our cartoon.

As I mentioned above, I’m not a big fan of Science. But I am good at MULTI-TUSKING, as we see our Mammoths are here, so I tried coming up with a scenario…but…to be honest, I’d just be blowing my own horn…Suffice to say the TUSKS gave the solve away, but if I had to even try to tell you what experiment these creatures of habit-at are working on, I’d fail. BIG time. The only thing that comes to mind is the old myth about Elephants being afraid of mice…but I think that’s a stretch…Five Mammoths, (one visible by trunk only), four mice, a large funnel-like tube, a water bucket…Chute! and (some) ladders…I give up…Nothing seems familiar…And I do pride myself on having a pretty good memory. Similar to that of a woolly mammoths’. You know…It’s like an elephants’…but a little fuzzy?..And on that groaner….

There you have it Folks…Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…and join me in thanking David Macaulay for gracing our pages today. It’s been HUGE! …And maybe I’ll try one more…Have you heard the one about the wooly Mammoth Handyman? …He was a Jack of all trades – MASTODON…Ok, ok…I’m packing my trunk…and going…🐘🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. Losing Salt Lake Tribune ss if 1/2/2021. How can I find your JUMBLE online each day?
JUMBLE is my favorite puzzle first thing with coffee.

    • Hi, Joe & Bobbie…Good Morning. You can use this link below to get the puzzle each day. For the the Sunday one, click the little black box at top, second from left that reads Jumble, and it’ll open to give you Sundays. If you can’t bookmark and save this link, you can always just Google “Chicago Trib Jumble” each day, and click through there. Jumble’s one of my favorite puzzles too, so I can understand how you’d hate to lose it. I hope this helps, and let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Wishing you a good day… Be well, and stay safe..🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. 🐈 After the KITTEN had leapt down from the shelf, landing right on his guitar on the couch, it seemed to form a GULLY, and he starting worrying about two things…would the guitar still STRUM correctly, and where could he move the MINNOW tank..it was definitely time for MULTI TASKING….🐈

📗 He bought his little daughter a book ‘bout fish and cats,
A MINNOW and KITTEN, were her favorites…so she sat
And leafed through all the pages, softly like a guitar STRUM,
And looked at all the pictures, drinking milk and chewing gum…
She took a pillow on her lap, and a small GULLY made,
And propped the book inside it…where it now easily laid…
So drinking milk, and chewing gum and reading while relaxing…
    He laughed and thought…”The kid’s a pro. Look at her MULTI-TASKING”! 📗

  4. Got me again! Only cartoon solution, I got this week was yesterday’s. Anagrams were a snap, as they were all week, but not so with the cartoon solution. At least tomorrow is the dawn of a new week.

    • Good Morning, Professor…Oh no…Not again! 😉 But yes, there’s always tomorrow! Hoping you have a good day, Prof…Be well and stay safe…🐘🙋🏻‍♀️

      • I’ve always felt that visiting contributors provide a more difficult anagram and solve puzzle. So, I’ve struggled this week fulfilling half; all anagrams, and no solves ….till today. I got it!!

  5. …And today, in Jumble Trivia…The puzzle of June 18th, 2018: “When the elephants worked together, they were…”. And the solve? “MULTI-TUSKING”! 🐘🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Good morning. Thanks Angie for a good laugh. Really enjoyed your song choice. You knocked a home run two days straight. I’m always looking for what you put to the puzzle. The words were simple but took some time on getting the cartoon answer. After awhile I checked for all the possibilities for the seven letter word and since the whole answer is in quotations I stuck with tusking which left me with multi for the first word. If you study the picture the answer is right in front of your nose. All of the mammoths are using their tusks to do the work It has been a fun week. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. LOL! Thank you…Glad you enjoyed the music! I kind of chuckled myself!…And how long have I been telling you to study the cartoons? 😉 You have to trust me…the solve is always there! And yes, it has been a fun Guest Jumble week…Hoping you stay well and safe too, Paul. Have a good one…🐘🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Really clever puzzle this morning though once again I’m not familiar with the cartoonist. Other than Blondie, none of the cartoons feature this week appear in my paper. It’s been a fun week. Happy Saturday to all.

    • Hi Betty. Good Morning. Same here, it’s only Blondie that now still appears in my paper…But as you say, it was fun, and it introduced us to a new group of cartoonists. Happy Saturday to you also, and stay well and safe. 🐘🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Wooly Bully! Wow, what a good song choice! Enjoyed the cartoon and the challenge of the solve. No problem for me today.
Gotta salute the guests, they really put their minds to the challenge and it was nice being introduced to some new comic strips.
Have a fun weekend and wear your masks…………….

    • Good Morning, Mig…LOL! Tks…And I’m still singing it…10 hours later! 😂 But I am surprised that no one so far has remembered the solve from last time…And I was just telling Betty exactly what you’ve said…that we got to meet new illustrators. That’s always a plus. Enjoy your day, Mig…and yes…the mask..Don’t leave home without it…🐘🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Hi all – I looked at the cartoon first for a change, and the “several at once” and the picture gave me the answer right away. For the words, just a quick pause at MINNOW which the double letter trick solved.

    Good wishes to everyone.

I liked your mammoth memory joke Angela. Just what you’d need when taking the final exam on fuzzy logic.

“He saw a KITTEN splashing after a MINNOW in the GULLY and decided to title the song he wrote about it “Down By the Old Mill STRUM.”

    • “Down by the old mill strum”? 👏🏻👏🏻!LOL! 5🌟! And yeah, that’s me lately…remembering things…but with that little hint of uncertainty…The Quarantine Between…😢Have a good one, Steve. Be well, stay safe…And kudos on how you got the solve! 😉🐘🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Thanks for the stars! I still like doing the words first, but I called up the online site and the picture popped into view first and gave an instant answer.
You stay safe out there too!

        • YVW! It made me LOL! And yes, that picture definitely popped off the page…TUSK up a lot of space! And, tks. 🐘🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. For those of our readers who don’t follow the Jumble on Facebook, here’s what was posted this morning, along with today’s puzzle…🐘

“Our last Guest Jumbler this week is the award-winning illustrator, David Macaulay. I can’t tell you what a thrill and honor it is to have David be part of the Jumble. As a college student, studying Industrial Design, I would obsessively look at my friend’s book, The Way Things Work by David Macaulay. The drawings blew me away! I loved the whimsical way he drew woolly mammoths to explain things like how microwaves worked. It was pure genius! Having discovered David’s profile on Facebook. I was able to reach out to him and ask him to be part of my world of the Jumble. He is a major influence in the way I like to add a little silliness to my cartoons. Do yourself a favor and check out all of his books. From his Caldecott Medal winning book, Cathedral, to his latest, Mammoth Science. You will be blown away as well. Thank you David for joining in on the Jumble!” NEYOJ! https://www.dk.com/us/book/9780241381045-mammoth-science/

Sorry I’m posting it so late! 🐘🙋🏻‍♀️
