  1. Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…

🎶 Oh, HOT DIGGITY DOG ZIGGITY …boom what you do to me…It’s so new to me, what you do to me….Hot diggity, dog ziggity, boom what you do to me…When you’re holding me tight…🎶 “Hot Diggity Dog Ziggity Boom” – Perry Como 1956

🌭 This man has had a love affair with Blondie, food and naps,
As long as I remember and the same with you perhaps…
A GIANT in the comic world, he’s been ‘round 90 years,
We’ve come to know him oh so well…yes he and all his peers…
We find him in Lou’s Diner, nothing fancy, far from ritzy,
Not like how Dagwood eats at home…where Blondie keeps things GLITZY…
And while Lou doesn’t CODDLE, he can oft times be quite rude,
Dag doesn’t go for ambiance…the man just loves his food…
So spicy chili with a frank? And arteries be clogged?
He’ll probably COUGH, with hair on end…but says..HOT DIGGITY DOG! 🌭

So…As another Guest Jumbler Week is DRAWING to a close, I think today we may have hit upon the one comic character that’s most familiar to the majority of our readers. the never aging BLONDIE… https://tinyurl.com/yy7kfyhr …Well Dagwood, since despite the strip being named for her, it’s her famous gastronome of a husband who CHEWS the scenery. And I don’t think my paper’s ever stopped printing Blondie, where as we’ve sadly lost Broom Hilda, and a slew of others over the years. But good old Dagwood has been SANDWICHED HAIR in my NY Daily News for as long as I can remember…and he still makes me smile. And I think it may be true for a lot of you….So while our previous four puzzles all hit it out of the park, going by our results this week…Joe Wos may have had you in a MAZE, Russell Myers beWITCHed you…not to mention Ryan Pagelow causing you to HOP through hoops, and Ms Eliot having had you calling for your MAMA…today I think it’s possible we may all be breathing a collective sigh of…recognition. So…let’s see how this COOKIE crumbles…

Ok…Our words…Oddly enough, we’ve nothing new this morning except the anagram ATIGN. Everything else… been HAIR, done that. And one of the Early Birds couldn’t wrap his head around DOLCED, (but had no trouble thinking that throwing “La Dolce Vita” around 3-4 times was amusing. It wasn’t)…

Our illustrious Guest Jumbler today: Dean Young. https://tinyurl.com/y4k7nlhs When his Father, Chip, first had Blondie grace the funny papers, it was way back in 1930, and its success went on to give birth to a radio series, comedy films, animated TV specials, two different sitcoms, and the iconic Dagwood Sandwich. https://tinyurl.com/hr8fl4p And when Chip passed away in 1973, the baton was passed to Dean, who’s successfully kept the iconic comic going ever since. And while I’ve come across a slew of great articles about Blondie, I think I’ll just share these two. I found this one to have so many interesting facts, https://tinyurl.com/y48kos8s and this one.. https://tinyurl.com/y3xqmuy6 “11 Things You Might Not Know About Blondie”, is fascinating…Two articles, with something for everyones TASTE…A regular smorgasbord of Blondie and Dagwood…and speaking of smorgasbords…

While Blondie offers us the antics of many colorful characters, including the Dagwood offspring, Alexander and Cookie, Dag’s boss the irascible Mr Dithers, Herb, his best friend and neighbor, the lovable family pooch, Daisy, and too many others to list, the running gag with our comic strip is Dagwood’s obsession with food. And today is no exception. According to our question, we find Dagwood, sitting in his favorite lunch spot, Lou’s Diner. And with Lou having served up a hot dog topped off with spicy chili…what else could Dagwood say as the heat explodes from his ears and causes his hair to stand on end, except…”HOT DIGGITY DOG”? Satisfyingly brilliant! WELL DONE, Mr Young, well done indeed!

The eye candy? Dagwood’s notorious antenna hair-do, and that odd single button at the center of his shirt. Along with his bow ties, they’ve definitely stood the TASTE of time…

So, There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one…be well, and stay safe out there. And to Blondie, Dagwood, and Mr Young, I bid you Cento Anni! 🍷 (A hundred years)…You’re almost there! 🌭🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🙇🏻‍♂️ Totally annoyed with the GIANT COUGH he developed, he decided to CODDLE an egg…and eat it with some oatmeal…nothing GLITZY, but then again it wasn’t exactly a HOT DIGGITY DOG kind of day…🙇🏻‍♂️

💃🏻 She sat within the GLITZY room, under the GIANT painting,
She wished that she’d control her COUGH…she felt slightly like fainting
But she not one to CODDLE herself, she had to break this fog…
And get back to the party…where they played…”HOT DIGGITY DOG”…💃🏻

  3. Good morning. Today I had the complete opposite. Had a devil 👿 of a time with the words but had an instant solve on the cartoon answer. You picked the perfect song Angela for this cartoon. Always enjoyed his smooth sound. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. C’mon…what other song could it possibly be? 😉 And I like you’re “devil of a time”! Hopefully David’s listening…it’d make a great Jumble solve! Have a good one, Paul. Be well and stay safe…🌭🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. You nailed it,today was the first cartoon puzzle I could solve all week.I’ve been able to nail the daily anagrams, but the cartoon solutions had me stumped. But a clean sweep for me today, and on a Friday no less.

    • Good Morning, Professor. Gee, how’d I know? 😉 You just can’t go wrong with Dagwood! Let’s face it…after 90 years? How could we not recognize him? I’m glad you had clear sailing, Prof…and be sure to stay safe out there. Have a good one. Happy Friday!…🌭🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. For those of our readers who don’t follow the Jumble on Facebook, here’s what was posted this morning, along with today’s puzzle…🌭🙋🏻‍♀️

“Believe it or not, today’s Guest Jumble comic is 90 years old! Created by Chic Young, Blondie started appearing in papers Sept. 8th, 1930. Chic wrote and drew Blondie until his death in 1973. Dean Young, his son, took over the creative control and with a number of great artists, including my friend David Reddick, they keep the adventures of Dagwood and Blondie going in over 2,000 newspapers today. We are so thankful for Dean to have Dagwood eat at the Jumble (Lou’s) Diner this week. Here’s where you can see more of the Bumstead family http://www.comicskingdom.com/blondie ! NEYOJ!”

    • Hi El…Kudos 👏🏻👏🏻! You’ve done well! Have a good day and please stay safe. 🌭🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Easy one this morning and a comic strip I’m actually familiar with and is printed in our paper. How really amazing that Blondie has been around for 90 years. That must be some sort of a record. Perfect song choice, Angela. Loved Perry Como’s voice -smooth as silk.

    • Good Morning, Betty. Yep…Dagwood and Perry! HOT DOG! Two adorable men! And as for Perry…that smile? Can you hear my heart ❤️ beating? 😉 Happy Friday, Betty. Be well and stay safe out there…🌭🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Hi all – Finally, an easy Monday-type puzzle. Just a quick pause at GIANT and yes, I also thought “dolce vita” for a second; then the answer was obvious since they avoided saying “hot dog” in the clue and all the G’s and the Y showed it.

The only things I notice about Blondie being updated is their modern TV screen in the living room where Dagwood watches and Blondie reads, and Blondie getting out of the house to start her catering business.
It’s been a fun Guest Jumble week, and it’s remarkable the connections the Jumble team has, and obvious how much many cartoonists admire the Jumble puzzle.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“Jack climbed to the top of the beanstalk expecting GLITZY rewards, but when he heard the GIANT COUGH, he realized no one was going to CODDLE him there.”

    • Obvious? Uh…How about the huge HOT DOG in Dag’s hand? I mean, it’s definitely a WEINER! 😉 And did you really think “Dolce Vita” too? Serendipity! 👏🏻👏🏻! Just not so SWEET after hearing it ad nauseam though! (Especially since I was just on my first cup of coffee)…💤 But that friend of mine is a real HOT DOG anyway…we’ve learned to deal with it!😉 Regards to Jack… nice take! 😉 Enjoy your day, Steve. Be well and stay safe out there. 🌭🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. I was looking forward to guest Jumble week and judging from the increased volume of comments here it was quite a success! It gives a different angle on the Jumble since we all sort of know how the incumbents do their puzzles. I was surprised at the quality of the guests work and suspect they put some effort into it. Thanks to all the guests.

    • Hey Mig. We always look forward to Guest Week around here…and it’s always fun. Glad you’ve come aboard! Have a good one, and stay safe out there. 🌭🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Thanks Angela! Twas fun for sure……… There are a lot more reading this thread then the number who actually post here. Tomorrow it’s back to our regular programming.

    • YVW, Mig. And definitely…we get 10s of thousands readers a day…Some post, most dont. Some hate, most don’t. That’s life, huh? Enjoy, Mig. 🌭🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Jumble swiftly solved however I had to repeat the song over and over in my head Trying to spell TIGGIDY or Diggity. I chose Diggity by chance but neither word exist in my dictionaries.
By the way, I am sorry to say that I wasn’t able to read all of your 121 lines (in my iPhone) introduction of today’s Jumble… 121 lines!!! Is that your record?😂😂😂
I do appreciate your involvement. Thanks and stay safe.
    Christian

    • LOL! A record? Hard to tell…But records are made to be broken, right? So??? The threat is real!! 😉 But now that you’ve completed the puzzle, I hope you’re enjoying the song, instead of just repeating it in your head…it’s such a great old piece of music. And thanks, Christian…I appreciate your participation too! Enjoy your day…Be well, and stay safe out there…🌭🙋🏻‍♀️
