Happy Tuesday everyone! I guess I’ll have to add “The Birds” to my ever-growing list of movies that I’ve never seen but should actually watch. I’m not much of a movie buff, but thanks to this blog I’ve been introduced to some of the older, or classic movies, like Caddyshack that I wouldn’t have otherwise taken the time to watch. I’m sure “The Birds” will be quite the viewing experience on some snowy weekend night. I’ll keep you posted with the results.
David was back at this morning with an offering of several words with double letters. None of them tripped me up and the poll suggests that you’re not having much trouble either. I did have a hard time finding the last use of LITTLE for some reason. I highly doubt that it’s a new word since it is so common. The only anagram that we’ve definitely seen before was FINEK back on 9/23/15.
There’s just something about large groups of people in Jeff’s cartoons that I really enjoy. Today we see a group of 14 people standing in line to buy tickets to Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds.” Each person has their own unique hairstyle, clothing and facial features that set them apart from the others. Even with the deluge of details I’m sure you noticed the flock of birds circling in the background and another small group sitting on the marquee. Something tells me that I wouldn’t want to know how this cartoon played out if a few more panels were somehow added. . . . .
The final solve was an anagram consisting of 7 consonants and 4 vowels for a total of 11 letters. I like how David has been spelling out other words to throw us off track but COOK didn’t get stuck in my head this morning. TO and IT seemed like logical solutions for the smaller words and FLOCKED was in the remainder for the finish. Have a terrific Tuesday and keep Jumbling!

We see these folks, (note that Bee-hive)! queuing up to get in,
While up above dark COCOA-colored birds…a swarm begin….
And ever since I’ve seen “The Birds”…I’ve never bought a suit
Of green like Melanie had on…and I fear birds to boot…
The damage to some psyches that was caused by this big hit?
It’s just as real today as when the people FLOCKED TO IT…🦅

Good morning. Another gift today. No problem with the words or cartoon answer. It’s amazing how some things stay in your mind. Last week when we were walking on the boardwalk at Atlantic Beach, we saw a large flock of birds 🦅 flying together and I yelled out “The birds,The birds” They all knew what I meant. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
🔪 He couldn’t understand how a KNIFE was drawn over a LITTLE dispute with a cup of COCOA, and in an effort to DEFUSE the situation, he and a group of others FLOCKED TO IT …🔪

Ditto on the Thank you Marines especially for digging the fox holes in Guantánamo for us Navy guys when there was talk that Castro’s men were going to raid the base on Easter Sunday in 1961 or 1962. We were supposed to take their place when they tleft to fight hand to hand. We so enjoyed watching them dig for us. Thank God it never materialized. Take care and be safe.

Easy one for me today too. I thought “The Birds” was for the birds. It was the one Hitchcock movie I really didn’t care for. Wishing all of you a good Tuesday.
I only saw it for the first time in the early 90’s. I had already known all about it, read all about …heard all about it. Yet it still turned my stomach. Maybe because, (with apologies to my friend Caroline) I’m just not a bird lover…🦅🤷🏻♀️
No problems today. Thanks, Angela, but I’m not crazy about all birds either. Still, I’m concerned about the loss of so many birds and other wildlife.

Once again Angela’s ‘solve the puzzle first’ technique worked for me and the anagrams all flew into place. I think when I saw the movie originally it was so far fetched that I didn’t believe it and thus did not enjoy it that much.

Hi all – No problem with the words or answer today. The double-letter trick worked twice on LITTLE.
What made me laugh was the worried look on the woman looking up at the birds sitting on the marquee. She’s right to be concerned standing right under them, but not from a physical attack.
Funny you should mention that blond beehive hairdo, Angela. I wonder whether that was intended as a “Tippi” of the hat to Ms. Hedren.
