    🧽 🧼 This puzzle seems so timely, it’s funny it’s come ‘round,
    ‘Cause now we find ourselves cleaning from ceiling to the GROUND
    It’s not that we were lax before, but sometimes it’s ABSURD,
    I find myself looking for dirt…the lines have gotten blurred…
    The doctors at a PODIUM tell us to disinfect,
    But you try finding Clorox wipes…my stores are oft bereft…
    We worry ‘bout the ELDEST, we wipe deliveries clean,
    Our goal is to ELICIT any Covid need be gleaned…
    We scurry like a RODENT to rid our homes of germs,
    And then we’re still left worrying…enough to give us worms…
    The Mold and Mildew we see here…about to enact crime?
    That kitchen needed to be cleaned…rid of PARTNERS IN “GRIME” 🧼🧽

    You know the old “Don’t put off until tomorrow”? Well, it sure fits today. A week of Mold and Mildew? Definitely not BLEACHy keen, that’s for sure. But hey…To each his moan, I always say. You wanna dance to the music? You gotta pay it to the WIPER…And now that I’ve CLEANED up here with my opinions…let’s move on…

    We’ve no new words this morning, and with a quick run through, as far as I can see right now, all fresh anagrams. And David’s given us some good ones. As one of the Early Birds put it, David wasn’t up to any DIRTY tricks, and as a result, the guys were all able to BRUSH right through our puzzle. So…on to the scene of the GRIME…

    Our Jumble denizens today, who I’ve decided to DAUB Frank and Lin, are seen leaving what appears to be either a second home, a little country get away or perhaps a rental they’re preparing. I have to admit I’m not really sure. I’m saying this since Frank is saying that they’ll “be back next week”. I thought it kind of odd, but I’m just going to SWEEP it under the rug. Sometimes I think the more we go through these puzzles with a fine-tooth comb, the more MESSY it gets. And let’s face it, Folks…who has SCOURS and SCOURS to spend trying to dig up DIRT…Anyway, we see our couple leaving, despite Lin’s slight apprehension, having not finished CLEANing up their kitchen, which is seen in the forefront. And lurking there, we see Mold and Mildew, SOAKING it all in like little SPONGES…And speaking of which…On the countertop, next to the sink, one of our two green guilty parties sits atop a yellow sponge, water pooled beneath it. In the wet sink, atop a plate sits the other. And from our dialogue, “trash the place”, we can see that they’re chomping at the bit…just dying to get down and DIRTY. I swear, they make me so mad…I’d just love to WIPE the floor with the both of them…I mean here we are, in the midst of this PANdemic, bending over backwards to STAPH off, I mean stave off the germs, and these guys are just laughing all the way to the DANK…It definitely makes my blood SOIL….But before I allow these guys to FLOOR me, I’ll just wrap this up. Mold and Mildew and the “filthy mess”? They’re PARTNERS IN “GRIME”. And as far as our couple goes? Well I’m sure when they get back next week, it’ll all come out in the WASH…

    So, There you have it, Folks…Done. And since we’re not dealing with the most pleasant of subjects this early in the morning, you’ll note that I’ve already included the little eye candy above. One CLEAN SWEEP…I just didn’t want to get too GRAPHIC with the whole thing…So, be well, stay safe…And I think it’s worth mentioning to our couple again…”FRANK, LIN…Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.” 🧼🧽🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🦝 As the chairman of the HOA stood at the PODIUM, beating around the bush while discussing the type of RODENT that had dug up all the GROUND, two of the ELDEST members, known as the PARTNERS IN CRIME, asked ABSURD questions, doing nothing to help ELICIT a definitive answer…🦝

    🗣 They found a real old PODIUM, that had seen better days,
    There’s RODENT bites upon the wood, ABSURD in many ways…
    But so in need with budget tight, they’d covered lots of GROUND
    And nothing that would suit their needs was able to be found
    They needing something not too high, their ELDEST members short,
    So it had to be suitable for when they would report…
    They hoped this one they dug up would ELICIT response good,
    ‘Cause after all the size was right…and it was sturdy wood…
    And they were kind of desperate since they’d soon be out of time…
    To start holding the meetings of the group PARTNERS IN CRIME 🗣

  3. Eldest and rodent both stumped me.Grime was a quick take on crime,but partners was another stumper.As usual,the increase to 6 anagrams,and more letters for the cartoon solution on Sunday did me in.

  4. Hi Everyone –
    The words were a struggle and the answer even tougher. Though I spotted Grime, I was looking for a misspelled word in quotes, not a pun. I put the puzzle aside and tried “fresh eyes” several hours later. I concentrated on the first word and the phrase just came to me.
    I love the way Jeff captures the fungi’s malicious personalities. My cellulose sponges do get moldy at times.

    • Good Morning, Caroline. You know what my friends and I were speaking about over breakfast this morning? We remembered seeing all of these words pretty recently in the Just Jumble game. That may be why they all came so easily to us. I’m waiting to see what Steve says…I know he does those puzzles daily too, as we do. As for the sponges? I think I’ve been at war with them for most of my adult life! 😉 I’m constantly trying out all new kinds, and I’m forever zapping them with bleach.   5. Did no one else confuse illicit and elicit which caused a roadblock? Stopped me cold as elicit would not come to me.

    • ‘Illicit’ was my first thought also Ken, but then I got it from the ‘E’ being included.

  6. Unlike most Sunday Jumbles today’s Humbled me! I only got 3 of the words and didn’t have a clue on the solution. Good thing this was not my first rodeo cuz who knows if I would come back? Expecting tomorrow to be a brighter day….

  7. Good mental workout this morning though I had to resort to paper and pencil to figure it all out. Elicit was the word that took me the longest to solve. I first thought of germs which worked but wasn’t correct. Finally thought of grime and partners followed nicely. Wishing all of you a good Sunday.

  8. Hi all – Two words took me a few jumbles each; ELDEST and then RODENT (after thinking ‘legal tendor’.) I suspect that like me, others may also have tried ILLICIT before ELICIT. Then for a change, I was able to guess the answer from the cartoon and the phrase “filthy mess.”

    Angela, I know I’ve been stuck before on RODENT and ELDEST, but they didn’t remind me of the Just Jumble or the Giant Jumble Crosswords either. But of course it’s possible. Actually, I got ELDEST because there were two E’s and I knew that E was in the answer, so I tried one as the first letter. RODENT just came to me after awhile.

I guess we do so many puzzles that the lines tend to blur after a while. 😉 And I do remember that one day, in an effort to beat my best time, I was jumping at Tender, until my finger was getting ready to hit the “O”…stopped me dead in my tracks! 😂.     • Most people assume the toilet is the most unsanitary thing, but it’s not even in the running (so to speak!)

      • I was thinking the garbage disposal switch/button should’ve been on the list. I bet most people (myself included) that have them don’t completely dry their hands before using.
