  1. Good Morning, Everyone 🛶CANAL ITALIAN CITIES BE AS PRETTY AS VENICE?🛶

    So, the way my head works when it comes to music, is that I go with the first thing that pops into my head…And this morning it’s 🎶Proud Mary-Rollin’ on the River🎶 …But no…not today. It just doesn’t fit. So instead here’s a little clip of the Typical Tourist Tradition…floating down the canals of Venice…I give you…The Gondola Ride… https://tinyurl.com/y5k3p568

    🛶The sky maybe a COBALT blue, or DISMAL looking gray,
    One sits in a gondola and their ride gets underway
    It’s calming, meant to be STRESS free and tourists lap it up,
    From old and STUFFY businessmen to young kids with a pup…
    A gondolier an ORATOR, you’ll sometimes find the case,
    But don’t expect a serenade…don’t ask..it’s out of place…
    And ANYHOW, there’s hiring a singer if you choose,
    You pay for entertainment while you’re on Venetian’s cruise…
    But for your 40 minutes as you’re ensconced stern to stem
    You’ll see a lot of tourists… Venice has BOATLOADS OF THEM! 🛶

    With TARROO being our only repeat anagram today, we have a puzzle of all old favorites, spanning mid 2017 to this past April. And it was Anyhow that took the Early Birds the longest to decipher. The solve? An easy one, with BOAT being the glaring standout. OAR-right…on to our cartoon.

    This morning we find ourselves in Venice, Italy…floating down one of its many canals. Five gondolas, the long, light, flat-bottomed BOATS of Venice, are pictured. And the dialogue stating “everyone” leads us to embark on our way to our solve. As far as passengers go on the Gondolas of Venice? There’s always BOATLOADS https://tinyurl.com/yxghx93r OF THEM. Cute, clever…a walk in the park…or in this case a cruise on the canal…

    As far as eye candy goes, Jeff’s managed to capture all the little things that make Venice the wonder it is. https://tinyurl.com/yy6foyur. The canal, one of its many bridges, the Venetian denizens looking out from their windows, one smiling and waving to the tourists below, the other looking a bit bored by it all. We see the “Pali da casada”, the poles of the family… https://tinyurl.com/y5k5v69s.
    We see two young tweens featured in the main boat.. but sadly, true to form, they’re more interested in their phones than the experience itself. The girl may be taking pictures, but the boy is definitely entranced by whatever’s playing out on his screen. Maybe that’s what’s making the man at the window seem so cynical! A sole seagull sits atop the building where we see a women being helped into a gondola by man who looks at her adoringly. And that’s where the Money Shot comes in today.     I read the news from Italy…I have a lot of friends and family still living there, and over the past few months, especially in light of the pandemic, I’ve tried keeping abreast of what’s going on.   3. 🤦🏻‍♂️ The room STUFFY, the atmosphere DISMAL, the ORATOR boring, the crowd…BOATLOADS OF THEM, but none to his liking…a sense of COBALT blues is what came to mind…all adding to his STRESS…he had to get out of here, ANYHOW possible…🤦🏻‍♂️

    📚 No matter how he tried to think, nothing worked ANYHOW,
    The class focused on COBALT, and he felt it too high-brow
    This Science course brought added STRESS, and DISMAL came to mind,
    The STUFFY tough Professor making it more of a grind…
    And todays featured ORATOR no doubt will pile it on,
    He’s hoping he’ll be able to stifle his constant yawn…
    But bite the bullet he must do, he’s here for the pro tem
    ‘Cause far as credits go for him? He’s short BOATLOADS OF THEM 📚

  5. Hi Everyone – Interesting to read about the female gondolier, Angela. I loved Jeff’s drawing.
    I see Cobalt is way down in the voting but it was by far the toughest for me. I needed the answer to back in. Of Them came to mind right away for the answer, and I found Boatloads after noticing the “B” in TCOLAB.

Here’s a little factoid for y’all: each night Angela get’s the following day’s Jumble and writes a term report on the topic complete with songs and citations….today’s thesis on Venice was a perfect example. Enjoyed the info on the female gondolier and the trans poler! I always think of Madonna’s gondola music video in “Like a Virgin”. I was in Venice for my 60th and totally enjoyed it, taking many gondola rides.
    Sunday Jumbles are always easier for me because with all the anagrams 6 letters I just see the words better for some reason. Seeing the cartoon in color was also a treat…..

  7. Hi all – First off, what a wonderful drawing today! Great perspective and filled with so much life, and so many textures and details.
    I went down the list and got all the words, although I confess a little bird told me the last one last night. I got “OF THEM” from the answer letter layout, and then one more look showed the BOATLOADS.

    Thanks for the nice color picture Angela! It would have been nice if the colorist had taken just a *bit* more care and not colored the people in the windows and stepping into the gondola the same yellow and pink as their buildings, but that’s a very minor nitpick.
    I did notice the female gondolier right away, but didn’t know she was unique.

          • It’s a good one, Steve…But…it might just be all water under the bridge…anyhow…😉 The Bridge of Sighs has those (two) window-like indentations, and the erose scroll work at top…the bridge in the cartoon has neither. Couldn’t help noticing..Let’s face it… 300-400 some odd bridges (depending who you speak to).. is 300-400 some odd bridges…😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Orator is the word that took me the longest to figure out this morning. Other than that it was smooth sailing. I remember seeing photos of the clear water in the canals thanks to the shut down due to the pandemic – amazing. Happy Sunday to all.

  9. None of it was was too stressful today. I liked seeing the color version very much, especially since it’s been such a dismal morning here. Never been to Italy, but once I did enjoy a little trip on a canal in Regent’s Park anyhow.

    • Hi Sandy. Dismal 😉here too. A really blah day. My paper prints in color all 7 days. It’s a nice bonus. If you’d like, I can post the colorized version each day…it is pretty to look at.   10. I take that back! Once had to spend the night in an anonymous hotel outside the, I think, Milan airport, because I missed the connection to Athens. And I remember spending most of the next day waiting in the airport. Such fond memories of Italy!!

  11. I’m sure most of you have seen this by now. It’s a few years old. But when it was first making the rounds, I sent it to a friend In Chicago who lives in an apartment house…And I remember his response being…”Yeah, right…like that would ever happen”. And I also remember telling him that he was ever the cynic. He sent it back to me a little while ago…This time he just said…”If…😥” …
    I know I’d go outside right this minute and set up every table I own in the middle of the street…and feed the entire neighborhood… if I could…And I’m sure a lot of you would do the same. Anyway, I thought I’d share it with you…It’s poignancy just gets to me…😥🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Yeah, it is nice, right? And even though I sometimes think that no one’s more cynical than me…(Or is it I)?…in this scenario, common sense dictates that at least three people brought out a fire extinguisher. And yes, you can never LEAF the Canadians out when it comes to creativity…🥖🍷🙋🏻‍♀️
