They needed help with landscaping, around their brand new pad…
The SRRUCE trees they had planted, just looked down in the MOUTH,
They dropped and sagged pathetically…they’re dying, there’s no doubt…
Maybe they were too hasty, planting in that JIFFY rush,
‘Cause nothing’s faring well out there…not one plant’s looking lush…
And with the neighbors property all with a MIRROR’s gleam…
They need to get some serious help, things worsening it seems…

Agree ,an easy Mon grade puzzle on a Thursday.Just wanted to update you all on the shooting at our local university,in Macomb.A freshman from Chicago shot his roommate in a dispute at their dorm.He fled back to Chicago,where he turned himself in.The University as well as the local schools were all closed yesterday.The wounded student was transferred to a hospital from our local hospital and is hopefully recovering.
Almost had it. Penciled in “forum for ME”, a great analysis conversation starter for my wife of ???? years. Stay well, all.

Monday Jumble on Thursday was my first thought as I whizzed through the words in record time for me. Then I saw others thought that and recorded their thoughts here. I couldn’t see all the cool things she found in the drawing but appreciate learning about them.
Maybe a weenie bit better in SoCal this morning. Hard to imagine smoke from a fire several miles from my house would reach all the way to the Forum, but there it goes.
Just remember life is better if you don’t follow the ‘news’ too closely and have a fine day! And the Dodgers officially made the playoffs…….

Hi all – A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum solution – this was like an easy Monday puzzle, especially since I recognized my nemesis word SPRUCE! I bet it’s even been jumbled exactly like that before, also. I’ll have to consult WikiAngelaJumblePedia 😂
The “for ‘em” was obvious, so I thought PLACE, PLAZA or COURT, but the remaining letters showed it was an even better double pun.
When I saw that “Jumble” was carved on the column’s base, I was hoping it would be a different STATUE of DAVID on top, but it doesn’t really look like him (and it even has hair! 😂)

When I looked through pictures of the Roman Forum on wikipedia, I was amazed by paintings from the 1700’s where only the top 10 feet of things like this are visible, compared to the massive structures you can see now that they’ve been excavated.

I love seeing these old Jumbles, and the touch of adding the little ocean liners relevant to the subject is amazing! Did Naydel do this on all his puzzles?
I don’t remember this style, so my first Jumbles must have been in the Arnold/Lee years. I know I did Jumbles in the 70’s and possible early 60’s, but I have no specific memories of them. There must have been a stretch where they weren’t available to me, but I was definitely doing them again every day from the early 80’s until now. (Wikipedia only mentions the Naydel, Arnold/Lee, and Hoyt/Knurek eras – are they missing someone? The name referenced in the Florida paper until recently that you were talking about?)
You know, Steve, I hope Jeff happens to read this because he’s a Jumble historian!
I can tell you that since I’ve been cataloguing these puzzles off and on, I’ve only seen that one with the ocean liners. Truthfully, I haven’t gotten as far as I’d hoped so I’ll keep it in mind as I go.
And if you’re curious, the first Scramble (it was called that before Jumble) appeared on Monday June 7, 1954 on page 28 of the Chicago Tribune. I’ve got a LONG WAYS TO GO before I can tell you 💯!
The name I was looking for that was mentioned was Michael Argirion – not even mentioned in the Wikipedia entry for Jumble!

According to the American Legion National Chaplain, there are still many U.S. Servicemen and women still unaccounted for, including Korea – 7,842, Vietnam – 1,626, WWII – 73,515, and the Cold War – 126!

You’re very welcome, Ann. Sadly, our country’s suffering so badly right now. The divisiveness, the hatred… it’s a lot to deal with. So I think it’s important to think of these things…And looking at the numbers of the POW/MIAs…it’s staggering, right? So many families without closure. A reminder for us to be grateful for all that we have…I’m glad things are improving out there weather-wise, and hopefully it’ll all soon pass.
