  1. Good Morning, Everyone…. 🐟 LET’S JUST STRING THIS ONE ALONG…🐟

🎶 WADE in the water, WADE in the water, children…WADE in the water,…God’s gonna trouble the water….🎶 “Wade in the Water” – Mavis Staples 1965 https://tinyurl.com/y53ncoxd

🐟 The ADVENT of the Season, we see Bob’s all Gung-Ho,
To do the Fishing GAMBLE…and a great area he knows…
He gets himself all “DRESSY”…the word used by his wife,
To describe all his wading clothes…gear for a Waders life…
The Waders like the INLAND, nothing UNRULY…it’s ease…
But Bob’s still waiting for his friend… Good thing there’s no time squeeze
He thought he took a POWDER, and maybe wouldn’t show,
But here he comes…and none too soon…’cause Bob’s rarin’ to go…
He’s standing in the water, luckily no patience’s fading
The friend is here…now they can start, ‘cause he’s READY AND “WADING” 🐟

Ok..As usual on a Sunday, I’m running late…so I’m pretty much FLYing by the seat of my pants here, but I CODn’t help but notice an odd little twist…This morning we see SREYDS…an anagram we TACKLEd just a week ago today… Puzzle: https://tinyurl.com/yyy9opkx – Post: https://tinyurl.com/y3ktzzox Hmm…How’d David not CATCH that? But it’s late, and anyway, I’m not here to CAST aspersions…I’m sure it’s just a FLUKE…So with all our words being old favorites, let’s not WADE any longer to get to our cartoon…Oh, yes, a stumper? A little pause at INLAND for 2 of the Early Birds…but as for the rest of the words? All done on the FLY…easy, breezy…

So again today, I think if you’re not familiar with Fly Fishing and Wading, https://tinyurl.com/y4q4fg44, you might not get David’s LINE of reasoning…Bob is a WADER, a type of fisherman who likes staying inland, and fishing while standing in the water…And ironically, he’s not SHALLOW about it…he takes his fishing seriously…So he’s been READY for a while now, WADING on his friend Weaver, (Weave for short)…And now that he’s here…well what more is there to say? https://tinyurl.com/y5znqkz2

Eye candy? Not to GO TOO DEEPly into an explanation of gear and stuff, here’s a link for those who might be interested. https://tinyurl.com/yyakcvzk. But if you’re thinking something’s missing, and wondering where BOB and WEAVE would keep their CATCH? Here’s the thing with Waders…a lot of them don’t. They fish mostly for the sport. But…if they did want to keep the fish, they COD. They’d use a Stringer, https://tinyurl.com/y2kouqtd, and have a cooler in their car…and just keep up a steady STREAM of going back and forth, depending on how well they do…And the WRIST is FISHtory…

So, There you have it Folks…Done! Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday, a day to just relax and maybe CATCH up on some email…you know DROP a LINE or two to a friend…Anyway, here’s to being well, and staying safe out there…And since I’m running late, and have a LOX on my plate, I didn’t add in too many fish puns..so if you have any good ones…just let MINNOW…🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤷🏻‍♀️ With him long READY AND WAITING, but not knowing for sure if the ADVENT party, being held INLAND was a DRESSY one, she didn’t want to waste time…so she took a GAMBLE and just chose her new POWDER blue pants suit, and spent the rest of her time trying to tame her UNRULY hair..🤷🏻‍♀️

⛴ She’s waited for a long time for the ADVENT of Sail Season,
So she felt she’d get DRESSY…not that she needed a reason…
But since she took a GAMBLE when she went and bought the boat,
She prayed nothing UNRULY would hinder it’s staying afloat
So far it’s just been INLAND, but today she’d take her out,
And set sail for the ocean…POWDER blue skies all about…
She’s nervous and excited, but she’s here with breath that’s bating
Today’s the day, the time has come..and she’s READY AND WAITING! ⛴

  3. Believe it or not I’ve never gone fishing in any manner, from the shore,a boat,or wading in.Be that as it may,I was able to get all the anagrams quickly, also remembering dressy from previously, and despite my usual problem w the additional Sunday letters,’waded’ in and solved the puzzle, post haste.

    • Good Morning, Professor. Yes, it was an easy go of it today…and I’m glad you waded in! 😉 Enjoy your day, Prof…Be well and stay safe out there…🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning. I had this all done and somehow lost my entry. Rather than go through it again, I’m just gonna say I got both ends. I’ll read you after this Angela. Regarding yesterday’s comment, just one of my kids still doesn’t have electricity. They hope by tonight they will have it. Take care and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Lost it here? Hmm..That seems a little FISHy…😉 although stranger things have happened with this site! But way to go with the solve. And guess what? My cousin in CT? She hasn’t regained her power yet either…she never did…She just told us she did so that we wouldn’t worry about her… It’s a shame, really…it’s soooooo hot…And I have one cousin still out too, in Huntington. So I feel for your son…Let’s pray they’re all back by tonight…Tomorrow’s supposed to be a scorcher…Have a good one, Paul. Be well and stay safe out there…🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. What happened to your score card? Enjoyed seeing how I compared to others.

    • Hi Elias. Good Morning. I’m not sure I’m following you…but do you mean the Poll? It’s there, where it always is…Just scroll up from here, and you’ll see it blocked off right after the puzzles’ solution. Also, if you get the morning email, it’s there also, right below the needed letters and solution. It reads..”Take Our Poll”…and you can link through from there…I hope this helps. Be well, Elias…and stay safe…🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Hi all – The ‘UN’ trick showed UNRULY. I had to leave the first word and come back to it after doing the rest, but saw the AD and ADVENT on the second look. I also thought DRESSY looked familiar, but chalked it up to all the other word puzzles I do.
I got WADING right away from the cartoon, thought the middle answer word would be HIS, then TIRED OF WADING, but crossing out WADING from the answer letters showed the AND and the correct solution.

Despite the caption, the fisherman doesn’t look very anxious – which is good! They’re supposed to be having fun!

    Good wishes to everyone.

“She loved the ADVENT of laws permitting people to legally GAMBLE at home, since she no longer had to primp and POWDER, pull out a DRESSY outfit and drive 50 miles INLAND to the casino, only to have to fend off UNRULY jerks READY AND WAITING to bother her.”

    • Hey Steve…Good Morning. I’m loving the “unruly jerks”! 👏🏻👏🏻 It’s so true! They always got a LINE! 😉 Be well Bud, and stay safe out there….🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

      • I’m glad you liked it. You’ve had to tell a few of them what they could do with their flys, eh? 😂
Meant to mention – song from the ceiling at (socially-distanced) Peet’s this morning – The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer.” Not a bad way to start the day.

        • LOL! I do… Their flys…and their lies! You’d never believe some of the stuff we women are HERRING! And these guys think they’re being KOI!…🤦🏻‍♀️ In the meantime, most of their LINES couldn’t CATCH a cold! Trust me, 99% of them are a real pain in the BASS! 😂🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

          • I’d surely believe it because I listened to Joni Mitchell. One of the things I liked most about her lyrics was seeing what men (whether nice guys or jerks) looked like from the female point of view. There wasn’t a lot of that in Rock and Roll, especially at the time.

            • Yep…You needn’t be a brain STURGEON to know that half of them are just TRAWLing around looking for the least bit of an oppurTUNAty to try and get over…Most times I’m just like…”WHALEy? Are you kidding me”? 😂🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Steve…Anxious…When you’re anxious, while you can be concerned or worried, it also refers to when you’re really interested in something, looking forward to something…In other words…no pun intended…being anxious can also mean that you are very eager…Bob was simple anxiously (Excitedly) aWADING for Weave to get there…Hence…the smiling face! He was just happily KRILLing some time…😉🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

      • That’s interesting. I would use ‘excited’; I always associate ‘anxious’ with unpleasant emotions.

        • Well, I guess this is just a case of WATERever floats your boat! 😉 Oh..WADE..There is no boat! 😂🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Hi Everyone –
No problems today. Love the song choice, love Mavis. I learned fairly recently that the song is about slaves getting in the water so they couldn’t be tracked.
“Lox on my plate” made me laugh, Angela, and your sentence did the same, Steve.

    • That’s very interesting Caroline. And thanks, I’m always glad to hear if I can make someone laugh.

    • Hi Caroline..LOL! Thanks!…I was beginning to get worried about you…But then I realized it was Sunday and I figured you were probably just FLOUNDERing around the Farmers Market! 🥕🌽! And Mavis? Get out! Another thing we have in common! I love her too. I’m a long time fan…of her, solo, and her music with the Staples Singers. How I love this song… https://tinyurl.com/y3jthcck In fact I pulled it out of the vault just the other morning, when the news just got me so depressed…and I bopped around the house for a while…And it helped! I’ve seen Mavis in person, and she’s a gem. I was hollering with the best of them!…And yes, the song’s been around forever… https://tinyurl.com/c4rlm52. It’s a beautiful spiritual…Hope you’re enjoying your day, Caroline. Be well and stay safe out there…🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Yes, I was at the farmers market. I love “I’ll Take You There” too but hadn’t heard the link you posted. Thanks! It’s great to have songs like this to make us feel better. I heard Mavis once a few years ago and she still sounds great.

        • I knew you were there! 😉 You’re very welcome. I love listening to it…I’ve practically worn that 45 down to a pulp. I have an album of hers too, I should look for it. There’s so much music here I could drown in it all…And you’re definitely right…If I didn’t have my music to “calm this savage breast”, I don’t know how I’d deal with all the craziness going on in the world right now. But Mavis…Did you know that Bob Dylan proposed to her? IDK, SMH! I mean I like the guy, and I’ve enjoyed his music…But IMO? She’s wayyyy too much woman for him! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Easy one today. No problem with the anagrams or cartoon answer. My father was a huge fisherman. I totally loved the movie, “ A River Runs Through It”. Dad used to say “You have to think like a fish”, never quite got that concept but it was a line that they used in the movie so guess fellow fishermen knew. Hope you all catch a good day.

    • Hey Betty…Yes, it was an easy, breezy one today. And the LINE? Read this, I think you’ll enjoy it.. https://tinyurl.com/y288j65x….My other’s always saying that to me when I tend to go off on something…or someone…😉 Well he prefaces it with…”SCALE it back a bit, ok”?… And then he says..the Think like a fish…And it usually works. He’s stopped me many a time when I was REELy aBOAT to go off the DEEP END…😉 (And then he likes to remind me what a CATCH he is…I guess so…Maybe I COD do BATTER, but I’m used to him by now)! 😉 Hoping you CATCH 👏🏻👏🏻a good day too, Betty! Be well and stay safe out there! 🐟🙋🏻‍♀️

    • You really jogged my memory with that line (which is good! I need all the exercise I can get these days!) In the book “Alas Babylon”, there’s a scene down in Florida where nobody has been able to catch fish for a week, and only the young girl thinks to go ask the old black guy in a cabin by the river for his advice. He basically tells her to think like the big old fish. (It’s been really hot, so the fish is way down in the crevices where the water’s cooler.) She drops her line there and comes home with a couple of big ones to feed everyone.

    • “To catch fish, you got to think like a fish. Can you think like a fish, little girl?” Peyton felt injured, being called a little girl, but she was a child of dignity, and it was with dignity that she answered. “No, I can’t. But I know that you can. You must, because you’re a great fisherman.” Preacher nodded in agreement. “I was a great fisherman. Now I feel too poorly to fish. Nobody thinks of me any more as a great fisherman. They only think of me as an old man of no use to anyone. You are the first one to ask, ‘Why don’t the fish bite?’ So I’ll tell you.” Peyton waited. “If it was very hot, like now, the hottest I ever remember, and you was a fish, what would you do?’ “I don’t know,” Peyton said. “I know what I do. I take showers, three or four a day Outside with nothing on.” Preacher nodded. “The fish, he wants to stay cool too. He don’t hang around the shore there—” his arm swept to indicate the river banks—“ he goes out into the middle. The water close to the shore, it’s hot. You put your hand in it, it feels like soup. But out in the middle of the river, way down deep, it’s nice and cool. Down there the fish feels lively and hungry and he eats and when he eats he bites.” “Bass?” “Yes. Big bass, ’way down deep.” “How would I get them? Nobody’s been able to net any bass bait—no shiners.” “That’s the trouble,” Preacher said. “The little fish he gets hot too and so he’s out there in the middle deep, being chased by the big fish like always.” Peyton thought of something. “Would a bass bite a goldfish?” Preacher looked at her suspiciously. “He sure would! He’d take a goldfish in a second if one was offered! But it against the law to fish with goldfish. But if I did have goldfish, and if it weren’t against the law, and if I did fish out in the deep channel, then I wouldn’t use a bobber. I’d just put a little weight next my hook so that goldfish would sink right down where the big bass lie.”
