I guess it was too early for me as I saw ” suede” instead of douse,which meant I lacked the u for the first word ,suit. Once I saw the error in my ways on douse,and had the necessary u for suit,the overal cartoon answer was a quick solve.

His eyebrows as he zeroed in to solder on the hinge…
He closely followed Googles SKETCH, and hoped he wouldn’t DOUSE
The faith that she had put in him…’cause he’d feel like a louse…
He swore that he could fix the door…he needed to succeed
A wing, a prayer, a soldering gun…he hoped they’d SUIT HIS NEEDS! 🚪

Hi all – Got all the words today. Thought the answer would be something like MAKE HIM or “something THE”, or the middle word would be FIT. Wrote down the letters and almost saw STENCH. A closer look showed SUIT, which meant the middle word couldn’t be THE but was probably HIS, and that left NEEDS.
I also liked your home improvement poem Angela – sounds like my fumbling attempts. At least I haven’t SINGED anything or burned the house down yet.

It’s a coincidence because I thought of you the other night while watching a program on tv called “The Pizza Show.” They visited Di Fara in Midwood and then they dropped in on some guys playing bocce! Not sure if you’re even near there but the pie looked amazing. Take care.
I have a question for Jumble fans: The quality and cleverness send to have slipped dramatically. Do we know who is doing them? In my paper, there is no credit. The scrambled words are supposed to make potential words (the convention of original Jumble) but now it seems to be any combination of letters. PXDUEL can’t possible be provided. Definitely not as much fun. And then the cartoon solutions themselves have been dull for awhile. Is it just me? What’s up?

I’m not sure how to field your questioning of Duplex, but I went back to look at the past times it was used, and it was scrambled as such: PDXELU, DXELUP, PUXELD, and XPULED…dating back to 2015. David does try to keep the anagrams fresh each time, so it’s appearance today as PXDUEL doesn’t seem that far off the mark. There’s only just so much one can do with six letters…As for who’s doing the puzzles, I know personally that David takes great pride in his work…and the fact that he alone creates the words and solutions for the puzzles, (with the art work, of course being solely done by Jeff). And while I can’t speak for others, I always find the puzzles entertaining, albeit some a lot easier to solve than others. For me, there always seems to be that bit of wit and whimsy that both David and Jeff are known for. It might just boil down to the fact that perhaps after you’ve been doing the puzzles for a certain length of time, you’ve just gotten better at it, and they’ve gotten easier to solve…But again, it’s just my opinion.
