Ok. So, HEAD SCRATCHER I get. And it’s a really cute solve…but what’s got me scratching my head is …How DID our guy get POISON IVY, if he hasn’t been out of the house? I have to side with our characters…I just don’t get it…Are we to think his son gave it to him? Since the boy’s asking who wore his hat? And we know that there’s a clear, sticky, oily resin called URUSHIOL in Poison Ivy that can remain on clothing? https://tinyurl.com/y4a6s5ut Can’t be though…Because if our guy didn’t leave the house, why would he have been wearing a hat? And taking it a step further…are we then to believe that the son DOES have poison ivy, which he probably caught going “into the woods”? And what? His parents don’t know that he has it? How could that be? How could your kid have something as invasive as poison ivy, live in the same home as you, and you not know? Because isn’t it true that there’s no way for someone to be completely immune to the effects of urushiol? I’m telling you Folks…this has me bewildered…And I can’t help but have a RASH of questions…So, I have to ask you again…How did our guy get it? Does the hat CAP it off? IDK…Maybe I just need to turn over a new LEAF…and give up on all these puzzling posers…You know…SCRATCH it all and just STICK with Kakuro…So what are your thoughts, Folks? I don’t know if this is a first, but not only are all four of our words Sweet Repeats this morning…every anagram is a repeat also. And I definitely LEAFed through the Archives to be sure. SHURC and EEGGAN are from way back in 2012, while STARHH and DICEH are from 2018 and ‘19 respectfully. All repeat anagrams…Now how’s that for a kick in the head?
Anyway, that’s about it. No need stretching this out…like we can see the kids hat is…(But I will mention that the word HEADing is used in the dialogue)… Besides that, there’s really not much more to FLARE UP here…It’s a quiet morning…So I think I’ll have time now to try mixing up some homemade poison ivy ointment…My friend showed me how to make it from SCRATCH…And I’m just ITCHING to try it…Have a good day, Everyone…Be well and stay safe out there…And if you’re thinking of taking a walk into the woods? No problems today. From what I read on the web, Angela, there are some people who aren’t bothered by poison ivy, though they can develop a sensitivity at any time. Luckily, animals like dogs and cats don’t have a reaction, but they can bring the oil inside. PI and its berries do have some redeeming value as an important food source for birds and other animals.

Hi all – The last word took a few tries. Thought NEGATE, started with ‘A’ and saw “Aegean Sea”, then tried ‘E’ at the beginning, saw EN and then ENGAGE. Tried HAIR for the first answer word, then HEAD and saw it.

And here’s my guess on the puzzle, inspired by reading about cooking tips. They always say that hot cooking grease droplets fall back down after they cool, so the best way to keep your glasses clean while frying food is to wear a baseball hat. So the kid brought the oil in on his hat, which the father grabbed while cooking, giving it to him even though he hadn’t left the house.

When I have a problem with one of your jumbles, I bring out my Alphabet Dice Game . A game I used to play with some 75 years ago . I finally found a similar game with letters instead of numbers on the dices’ faces . Very helpful .
Today I guessed right away the word scratch then added ED however I was stuck with HARE . Couldn’t figure out why HARE wasn’t in quotation unless there was an error . After scratching my head, I switch the R and the D… bingo or should I say head-on!!!
