Good Morning, Everyone….     🏔 I’M THINKING…DO I EVEREST? 🏔

🏔 He’s standing there so SMUGLY, he makes it kind of ROUGH,
The others have their pride you know, and sometimes it gets tough…
Like he’s the big PAPAYA and they’re just Honeydew,
And everything goes his way, it’s all Everest’s VENUE
But what to do about it…he’s Top Dog, and they’re just pups…
It’s etched in stone, no matter what, they’ll never MEASURE UP! 🏔

So, considering my song choice this morning, it’s only right that I offer up this disclimber. Yes, it’s the same song I used yesterday, but who knew? I mean, what’re the odds that we’d have back-to-back Mountain puzzles? And let’s be honest here, the song fits so much better with todays puzzle, right? Much. Well, just to keep it fresh, I am giving you a different rendition. Today we have the original release, sung by that great old duo of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, back in 1967. And I do think that I like this version better…

Ok…So..Is it just me?…Or is today eerily like Groundhog Day? We spoke about this the other day, remember? You know, how being isolated because of Covid-19, has us feeling like Bill Murray did in the movie? Same &€^! *’#, different day? First of all, as mentioned, we just had a Mountain-themed puzzle yesterday. Then, as today, we had three out of four of our words being repeat anagrams yesterday. And then…uh…there was something else…only I can’t remember now. That’s another casualty of all this…I just don’t seem to be remembering things all that well. Too many brain freezes, too many lapses of memory…I really feel like my memory’s beginning to declimb . Well anyway, here we are. Today’s Groundhog Day Puzzle…Mount Everest on deck, and three tried-and-true anagrams. And that other thing that’s still up in the air…

So, it’s NEEVU, GUHRO, and YAAAPP, that have tipped our scales in the past. And SMUGLY last made a climb to fame in the Jumble Charts back on April 14th, ‘19. So, as far as our words go, there’s not all that much in the way of new today…And as far as the Early Birds go, the entire puzzle was easy to get over...

Mount Everest. No stranger to the Jumble, we’ve been here many times in the past. Finding ourselves once again in the Himalayas, we’re listening to three mountains speak. Since climbing the mountain was closed down in March, due to the virus, I guess they’re as bored as the rest of us, and are leaning towards idle chatter. Everest, the top dog, is overheard telling the others that he doesn’t mean to crag, but he does have them beat by steeps and bounds. He’s like…”Canyon dig it”? And the other two, a male and a female, while not finding  fault with his statement, and being inclined to agree, they still can’t help feeling low…in a mana of speaking. Bottom line, they may not MEASURE UP,  but they still tried to take the high road, and did their best to keep their heads held high….

Eye candy? You snow, truth be told, there’s really not much here except a cloud or two in the background… So, I guess I’ll just summit all up, and say…There you have it Folks, Done! Oh wait, I just remembered the other coincidense…Back on November 1st, 2010, there was a puzzle whose solution was “Measured Up”…Ok, so maybe it’s no cliffhanger, but it did peak my interest…Here’s hoping you all enjoy your day, and that your highs outnumber your lows…🏔🙋🏻‍♀️

  1. 🥑 With the skin of the PAPAYA being very ROUGH to the touch, he felt the farmer had no reason to act so SMUGLY, since his VENUE would hardly MEASURE UP against the others…🥑

    🥑 She never liked PAPAYA, the taste just not enough,
    To satisfy her sweet tooth, she found it a little ROUGH
    The others thought her attitude quite SMUGLY like a snob,
    And most of them ignored her when it came time to hobnob…
    She showed up at the VENUE, and they all gave the heads up
    No matter what she did today, she wouldn’t MEASURE UP…🥑

  2. Good morning on finally a beautiful day. Today’s jumble wasn’t a problem on either end. With the two U s it was a given that the last word was Up. The rest was easy to get. Angela with the same choice two days in a row, it’s a tough pick who reached the summit. Let’s just say they both reached the top, it’s just a question as to who got there first. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Well done! I like your taking the HIGH road, and giving HIGH marks to both versions. They are both good…I’m wondering though whose rendition REACHED HIGHER on the charts…I may look it UP. And yes, it’s definitely an easy, breezy puzzle today. They all seem to be quite easy lately… Maybe David’s SCALING back a bit, huh? Regardless, they’re all TOP notch, IMO, and as many puzzles as he produces? I wonder if he EVERESTs too…Be well, Paul. Venue looked like uneven at first glance,but then seeing venue, as well as the other anagrams,the cartoon solution came quickly,given “up” as the obvious 2 letter word.Another double letter day with 2 u’s and 2 E’s, among the letters.Sheltering at home has us bummed out,as we haven’t seen any of our 8 gr kids since the weekend of Mar 7, Prior to the stay at home rules, we would get to see them at least 2 or more weekends a month.They all are 2-3 hrs N of us.Despite the stay at home rules,have a Tony the Tiger great weekend.

    • Good Morning, Professor. Yes, we’re all in the same boat…not seeing our loved ones, and missing them terribly. Thank God for FaceTime, Skype and Zoom, right? But at least there’s comfort in knowing that we’re safe and staying healthy. As of today, I’ve lost five friends in this horrendous existence, and I have another who was admitted as of Thursday night. And I think of their families constantly. I have no words for them…none that suffice anyway. We’re all in shock. There’s just no sense of closure. NY is being hit hard, the entire tri-state area is, actually. It’s just impossible to comprehend at times. So I deal with missing my family, since I feel I’m lucky enough to know they’re still all there. I’m keeping the faith, although I wrestle a whole lot with the hope. I just keep praying…Be well, Prof. And stay safe. And pull out all the stops when it comes to prayer…😥🤷🏻‍♀️

      • So sorry to hear about your friends, Angela. Keeping good thoughts and many prayers for all of you in New York who have been hit so hard. It truly is a horrific time. Courage and Hope! 🙏

      • I have a friend who moved to New Canaan,Ct last Feb, w his wife and father in law .The father in law passed away this morning at 100+ years old,having contracted the virus in a NHome a month ago.So I feel your pain.

        • Tks, Professor. As I do yours. The nursing homes here are a disgrace. Somebody really dropped the ball there, and what’s happening is beyond horrendous. Last night, again, there was a report of a home in the city that reported I believe 13 deaths, when in reality the number was found to be 98. It’s despicable. And the poor families. I don’t know how the powers that be didn’t have the homes on their radar…I’m sure a lot of it could have been avoided. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      • Angela, I’m also sorry to learn about the loss of your friends.
        I agree the nursing homes and the state should have done much more to protect their vulnerable residents. I hope things are better now.

        • Thank you, Caroline. You’re way too kind. Yes, it’s hard to believe that it wasn’t given priority early on. These nursing homes are Petri dishes. You know years ago, after my Mother had been hospitalized, she needed physical therapy that required our admitting her into a nursing home for the best hands-on care. I practically had to be sedated to go along with the idea. But I was there every day from morning to night, and developed friendships with the CNAs who cared for her. I’ll never forget how they all told me to make sure that I got my Mother out of there before flu season hit, because it was guaranteed that they’d end up quarantined, and I’d be unable to be with her. And I was so surprised…but I made sure that I got her out of there in time. And this was a 5-Star home….The yearly spread of flu and pneumonia in these places is no secret. So common sense should have dictated that this deadly virus would find its way in and spread. How it wasn’t brought to light…I just don’t understand. And I can’t imagine what these poor people and their families are going through. I’d be a lunatic if I were in their shoes… There was no excuse, IMO. It’s just so disheartening…Be well, Caroline…and stay safe.

  5. Hi all – The only word I would have paused at was SMUGLY, but putting the LY at the end showed it quickly; otherwise, instant solve on everything.

    I really liked the cartoon dialog and the expressions on the characters. That’s the best job of putting faces on mountains since Mount Rushmore.

    I had to laugh at seeing the same song two days in a row Angela, and I’m glad you went with that. My first thought yesterday was how much I liked the Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell version, along with “Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing.”

  7. For the second consecutive Saturday I have looked in vain for the local edition that is no more. Our paper has gone to a six day per week publishing schedule that most likely will not change once the pandemic ends.
