  1. Good Morning, Everyone… I hope you’re all well…🎶 Gotta Hole Lotta Love…🎶

🎶 I’ve been terribly alone and forgotten in Manhattan…I’m coming home to my city by the BAY…I left my heart in San Francisco…🎶 ..Tony Bennett 1962 https://tinyurl.com/mozyqbx

🦆🥯 I think we need to admit, with an answer such as this…
    One’d be hard-pressed to not laugh…it just brings a sense of BLISS…
It’s funny and it’s witty and I really laughed out loud…
The solve itself so easy, still David did himself proud
Remember cartoons of our youth, where a HIPPO danced ballet?
Somehow this cartoon took me there…the whimsy and the play…
The Gull is selling Bagels…not a PEANUT or a chip,
There’s nothing GLOOMY ‘bout it…it should be a comic strip!
    I definitely could see it fly…it wouldn’t be a flop…
A cartoon about “The Hole Love”…a winning “BAY-GULL” SHOP! 🥯🦆

Ok, so…I’m hardly the gullable type, but I do believe this may be one of the funniest puns I’ve heard in a while…from my first beak at the cartoon, I’ve been laughing. Maybe because everyone knows that it’s here in NY where Bagels are King…or maybe because it’s funny thinking of Seagulls being in food service, since hygiene definitely doesn’t go hand-in-wing with them…or maybe it’s the accompanying dialogue…”I’ve never had a whole one”? Whatever it is…I’m still laughing…

So, the owner of “The Hole Love”, Steven…Steven Seagull, resplendent in his paper chefs hat, is speaking with his customer, Swoop…Swoop John B…And in answer to Steves query as to whether or not Swoop’d like to try the speciality? …His reply about the “whole one”? It’s a gem! Of course he’s never had a whole one…He’s never bought a Bagel in his life…A whole one? Why would he? Seagulls are so good at flying past and just swooping a bagel right out of an unsuspecting hand. And trust me, it can be a narrow-wing experience! Prey tell…I’m sure it’s happened to anyone who’s ever eaten by the sea. Keeping a seagull at BAY? Rubbish! When it comes to bread? Well good flock with that! And the swoop d’loop isn’t a rarity, either…With them it’s all…you know…birds of a feather…So, the hole thing just quacked me up this morning. What can I say? It’s simply a beak performance on both David and Jeff’s part…

And just in case anyone’s wondering…The hole in the middle of the bagel? It’s not just there for decoration…The hole allows a bagel to have a larger surface area, and that makes it easier to consistently cook a bagel all the way through. And it’s important because bagel dough can be incredibly thick, making it hard to know if the centers are completely cooked, if the hole wasn’t there…Seriously, it’s the truth…There’s no schmear campaign here…

So…Here’s to all the Bagel lovers out there…Enjoy your breakfast…And just in case you’re outdoors…and near the sea? Hold tight to that bagel…Those seagulls are a round for the sand which is there… Be well, Stay safe…🦆🥯🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. Good morning. Another successful day. No problem with the words but struggled with the cartoon answer. The middle part of the quotation I presumed (never assume) we do know why don’t we, was Gull. Then after awhile I saw Shop for the third part which left me with Bay. Putting it all together gave me the brilliant finish. Who says you can’t teach an Old dog new tricks. You can’t get anybody better to sing that song Angela. Just like Kate Smith for God Bless America. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • I’m with you, Brooklyn. The song belongs to him. Be well, stay safe…🥯🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. Hi Everyone –
At first I had untape instead of peanut, but it doesn’t seem to be a dictionary word. Another great Jumble. Don’t know how Jeff and David can pull this off day after day.
Thanks for the info on bagels, Angela. I don’t think the great NY bagels have made it here to upstate. Not long ago, I read an article about Montreal bagels, which I had never heard about before.

    • Hi Caroline. I don’t know anything about Montreal Bagels. But I’m sorry to hear that you don’t have great bagels upstate. I’d put good money on NY being the best there is…It’s all in the “watah”! Be well, Caroline. Stay safe. 🥯🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Peanut was also a stumper for me,at least for awhile.Gull and shop were a quick solve, but Bay as the prefix had me stumped,as I didn’t notice it was a bagel shop in the cartoon.Cold and frosty here in Illinois with snow (?) in the forecast for tonight.A little late for an April Fool’s Day forecast.

    • Hey Professor. It looks like PEANUT shell-shocked a lot of people today…And snow? SMH! We had a bit of a nip in the air, and a ton of rain the last two days…but thank God, no snow. Be careful, be well, be safe, Prof…🥯🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. The word “peanut” can also be “untape”, not even sure if that’s a word!? That’s what I had at first!

  6. I don’t know if that’s the worst cartoon answer ever, but it’s got to be in the top ten.

    • Clay…Get out…really? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think it’s brilliant… I guess you just didn’t have a TASTE for it! 😉 Be well, Clay. Stay safe. 🥯🙋🏻‍♀️

        • LOL! Do you mean WURST ever? 😉 What can I say, Clay…I DOUGH know why it irks you so badly…But, PLAIN and simple? I appreciate EVERYTHING you’re saying…but I still SEED it my way…And I think it’s brilliant! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

        • …I think you’re just enjoying RAISIN up some controversy! 🥯🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Mike…He said cartoon answer, not cartoon. Seems like a few people are finding BAY-GULL not that easy to digest! 😉 🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. We went from Gloomy to Bliss today. I too paused at peanut and had to ponder for awhile at the cartoon answer but did solve it. Actually I thought it was clever. Hope all of you have a good Tuesday.

    • I’m with you, Betty. I found it a gem! Be well, stay safe. 🥯🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Hi all – (Written as always before I read any comments) HIPPO took a couple of looks for some reason, but the double letter trick solved it. Then it got interesting, because I got misdirected in two ways. First I used the usual UN trick and got UNTAPE – like you’d do to your hockey stick when the game is over. I was suspicious of that but didn’t see an alternative, so tried to solve the answer anyway. GULL was obvious, but I thought he was selling doughnuts, despite the fact that I had a bagel sitting right next to me the HOLE time! One more try gave me PEANUT and the right letters finally showed BAY-GULL SHOP.

Gold stars across the board Angela from Led Zepplin to the hippo in the tutu to the “schmear campaign”.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“The HIPPO was becoming GLOOMY in the zoo, but found his BLISS when the BAYGULL SHOP donated a soon-to-expire 55-gallon drum of PEANUT butter”

    • Hey Steve…Thank you. I knew you’d pick up on them! And your Peanut Butter drum 👏🏻👏🏻 gave me a chuckle…Be well, Steve. Stay safe…🥯🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Hi everyone! I thought I’d jump in here and shed some light on this UNusual situation.

UN is indeed a prefix meaning “not”. UNtrue means “not true” and UNcertain means “not certain”. UNtape, however, is not a viable use of the prefix. Broken down, it literally means “not tape”.

David is 100% correct. We all have access to his rule book which is the Merriam-Webster dictionary! Feel free to check those “double words” right HERE. If it’s in there, well then you’ve got him. If not, well, better luck next time!

    -M

    • How about when I UNwrap a present? Does that mean that UNWRAP is not a word because it means “not wrap”? I’m not considering “tape” a noun or adjective here (like “certain”), I’m considering it a verb like “wrap” a present or “tape” a hockey stick.

      • Steve…In an effort to get your mind off this rather STICKY situation …Go back and check my post…There’s a glaring one you missed in the HOLE thing! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

        • HOLE-y mackerel! You know I doughnut always catch everything, especially in such a long post so early in the morning, but I’m UNeasy that I missed the lines that could also be about staging Shakespeare at the seashore (and Macbeth at that!)

          • Uh oh…Now you got me! Shakespeare? Where? I’ll need a hint 🤷🏻‍♀️…But what I’m speaking of is 🎶🎶 related…Try again…😉🙋🏻‍♀️

          • PREY tell? No, that was just to get a pun in for a bird of prey…🦆🙋🏻‍♀️
