Jumble Answers for 03/30/2020

EMNVO = VENOM

OMRHU = HUMOR

KANWEE = WEAKEN

DADCIN = CANDID

CARTOON ANSWER:

WHEN THE TOURISTS USED SYDNEY’S METRO TO GET AROUND, THEY WERE – – –

NO UR WEN DD = DOWN UNDER

Happy Monday everyone!  The answer was a bit too predictable, but overall a great start to the week.  KANWEE was the only anagram that we’ve definitely encountered before.  I initially saw it as AWAKEN but reversed course when the letters didn’t fit.  Since it’s the only one that I didn’t see straight away, it’ll be my pick for today’s hardest anagram.

Interesting cartoon of a railway platform in Sydney.  The exact location appears to be Museum Station.  The young adults looked like Jeff’s kiddos, Sydney and Cam.  Did you get a good look at the screen on his cell phone?  What appeared to be a random mix of lines and dots was actually a picture of Sydney Tower!  Pretty cool!

The final solve was an anagram consisting of 9-letters.  The answer might have been obvious from the beginning but kudos to David for his efforts!  If it were me, I probably would have chosen REDNWOUND as my layout.  I find it hard to get words that are spelled correctly out of my train of thought!  Have a merry Monday, and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow.

  1. A surprisingly easy puzzle even for a Monday,with the anagrams a cinch ,and given the Australia clue,”Down Under” was a blind solve.I was hoping for a virus letup by Easter but now it’s pushed back to April 30.Let’s hope the peak will hit shortly and we can gradually get back to the new ordinary.

  2. Good morning. Unlike Chuck I’d put today’s jumble a little harder than our normal breeze through Monday one. The words were in that category with the cartoon answer real easy. Once I looked at the letters, that light bulb went off in my head and I could clearly see the answer. Until tomorrow stay well.

  3. Good Morning, Everyone..Got the blahs today..😥 Hope things are going well for you all…Stay well…Be safe…🙋🏻‍♀️

    They went on a vacation…picked Australia for their trip,
    Determined to use HUMOR to help give VENOM the slip…
    They weren’t getting on so well…and time began to WEAKEN
    The bond that they were used to…being CANDID…boredom seeped in..
    So hopefully the trip will help…if not…marriage asunder
    Is what they’ll have…it all hinged on this trip they’ll take DOWN UNDER

    • You’re certainly entitled to the blahs, Angela with all that is happening with your beautiful state. I pray that the surge in New York occurs soon and then things level off. So impressed with your Governor Cuomo. Courage and Hope!

      • Hi Betty. Thank you…It’s just a bad day. Major panic attack, too reminiscent of the days following 9–11. I had the major meltdown. The numbers…they’re just so daunting…and the rate at which they’re climbing is insane. We’re already at 66 thousand cases, and we’ve lost so many lives, just here. And to keep hearing that we’re weeks away from the apex? I can’t absorb it all. Andrew Cuomo…You’re right. Thank God we have him. I was just now listening to his conference. He’s a good, decent man. And he’s got major cojones. Something so lacking in others…I knew his Father. I was fortunate enough to have been in his company on more than one occasion. When he spoke, I always remember being totally mesmerized. He had what my Grandmother used to call lingua d’oro. The Golden Tongue. Eloquence…pure eloquence. Do you remember his keynote address at the ‘84 Democratic Convention? He was amazing. I remember standing up in my living room and clapping like a maniacal trained seal, while crying at the same time. Probably the best speech I’ve heard in my entire life..Now it feels like a lifetime ago…There was so much to respect. And it’s the same with Andrew. Anyway…it’s all just so overwhelming. Hospitals being erected in the middle of Central Park…in the middle of the Javits Center? Places we’ve laughed and partied in? It’s a lot to wrap your head around. Just before Andrew said, in reference to the nonsense he’s getting challenged with…”There is no red and blue. It’s red, white and blue. So get over it”…Damn right, it’s red, white and blue. And it’s a shame that in the midst of all this chaos, we have to deal with anyone, ANYONE who doesn’t understand that. Again, as I said…thank God we have Cuomo…Soooo…I apologize, Betty, for going off here. I just keep praying for those out there on the front lines, your children included. God has to give them the strength, mentally and physically to keep fighting the fight to keep us alive. Stay well, be safe…🤷🏻‍♀️

      • I agree completely especially since my daughter is a Dr director of a small clinic in Peru,Illinois,and is on the front lines every day.Fortunately there are no cases in Peru but there are 3 cases in the county.

        • Hey Professor. I’m sorry to hear that one of your children is out there too. Luckily, I have only one niece who’s fighting the good fight. My thoughts and prayers will be with your daughter also. It’s tough, and it’s leaving no stone unturned. It’s mind boggling how it’s spread across the whole country like this. I just got an email from my local paper stating that 14 more people here on Staten Island alone were lost between y’day and this morning. I’d love to do a Scarlet O’Hara…but what’s that going to accomplish? The worry’s still, there, regardless of the day. Although I know the worrying isn’t solving anything…Anyway…I decided 2:30 wasn’t too early…🍷😉 Beats crying! Stay safe, Prof, and the best to you and yours. ♥️🙏🏻

  4. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Despite wanting to be totally CANDID, he began to WEAKEN, and couldn’t hide the VENOM he was feeling…he tried HUMOR…but that only made him feel more guilty deep DOWN UNDER it all…🤷🏻‍♂️

    🐍 We heard of snakes and VENOM…how you’ll WEAKEN from a bite,
    And the tour guide was quite CANDID…knowing honesty was right…
    With snakes no room for HUMOR, caution would keep you from blunder,
    You don’t need to get bitten while you’re visiting DOWN UNDER….🐍 🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Hi all – Completely easy Monday words and answer today. The only hesitation was that neither the double-letter trick nor putting IC at the end worked, so I actually had to think to get CANDID. And that third word is always either AWAKEN or WEAKEN.

    Good wishes to everyone.

    “The stand-up performer didn’t understand that adding VENOM to his CANDID HUMOR routine would actually WEAKEN its effect on the audience.”

      • Hi Mike – That’s an interesting thought, but my feeling is that it would be random if you take into account that the six letter words would generally be harder than the five letters. You have data from the daily voting, but you’d have to keep track positions of the words also. Sounds like a lot of work, especially to me – you know the old saying, “I’m retired; don’t ask me to do a d*mn thing!” 😂🙋🏻‍♂️

  6. Breezed through the puzzle this morning which was a good way to start off the week. Will do the Jumble Crossword and regular Jumble next and then clean through another drawer in my house. Heaven help the Salvation Army and Good Will when all this business is over with, I’ll have bags of things to donate. Stay well all.

    • Betty…On a much lighter note, I’ll share a laugh with you. Clothes. I was thinking to do the same, go through the closets…As I stood at the mirror looking back and forth at some items, my other walked into the room and thought to say…(or DIDN’T THINK)…”We’ll probably have a lot to give away by the time this is all over. Most of our stuff probably won’t fit”…”OUR stuff”, I said… Poor guy…I gave him such a look, he hasn’t spoken a word since! That’s what I get for mentioning the other day that I’m stress eating…Well, it’s either that reason, or…?? What? It’s already beginning to show!?? 😂 No…it can’t be that…can it? I shouldn’t be taking it out on him…maybe I’ll cook him something special….Uh oh…😱…And there’s the problem!!! 😂😂 Is 2:30 too early to break out the wine? 🍷🙋🏻‍♀️
