Happy Thursday, Jumble fans! David L. Hoyt was kind enough to stop by yesterday and leave us a video message all the way from Nuremburg, Germany. He’s there to attend the International Toy Fair this weekend and has graciously extended to us a unique opportunity that I’m sure will be a hit with quite a few of you.
A couple of years ago, I had the idea of gathering a list of questions from Jumble players that they wanted answered by Mr. Hoyt. It turned out that my timing was a bit off and he was leaving for Germany that weekend. As you’ve probably figured out, David’s not exactly the kind of guy that would let anyone down. He took the time to create a video that answered each and every question in exacting detail. And he did it all while giving us a tour of different parts of the city!
He’s offered to do it once again this year but that’s where we need YOUR HELP. If there’s anything you’d like to know about the Jumble or its current wordsmith, simply reply in the comments down below and he’ll do his best to answer your inquiry. We’ve received some great questions in the past like: “How often do you repeat clue words?”, and “What’s David’s favorite food to eat?”. With an unusually long but important opening this morning, I’ll go ahead and keep today’s analysis relatively short. There weren’t any new clue words in our puzzle but two of the anagrams are coming up as such. Both ZUGEA and NMMTOE were repeats from the summer of 2018 while SMOCIA and TIARO are coming up as new. I didn’t whiff on any of them and they all seemed to fall into place quite nicely. MOSAIC has stumped me more times in the past than I’d care to count. My luck seems to have changed and I think I’ve finally managed to commit it to memory. It’ll be my pick for today’s hardest offering and I’m sure it’ll be my future pick when we happen to meet again.
The setting for today’s panel is a dining room and it’s there that we encounter our 5 Jumble characters. The cartoon sentence identifies the location as a clubhouse and you can see a couple of holes of the golf course in the background. Everyone looks to be finished with their appetizers and it’s just in time because their entrees are ready. The waitress has arrived at their table with a large tray of food and just look at the smiles beaming back at her from our famished golfers. My favorite detail was the small “J” logo that was on the gentlemen’s shirts. They may have been quite small but Jeff never misses an opportunity to tastefully promote the Jumble brand!
The final solve was an anagram consisting of 10-letters. The layout may have been on the short side but it was scrambled so well that it kept the solution extremely well hidden. David even offered up a bit of misdirection by seemingly spelling out MENU but I refused to take the bait. Since the folks dining had just finished playing golf, I figured I’d start by looking for words pertaining to the sport. COURSE came into view after a few moments of careful consideration followed by MAIN to finish it all off. Have a terrific Thursday, and don’t forget to ask David a question down below!!!
Jumble Answers 
Good morning. My choice for hardest word is Mosaic. I looked it up after five minutes because I have things to do and golf is my least favorite sport. I had the same mentality to the cartoon answer but after my second attempt I came up with the correct answer. I just love main courses, first course, especially second courses. When your with friends it’s all good. Once a month there is a bunch of us from bocce that go out for early dinner, yesterday there was fourteen of us. It’s always a good time. Until tomorrow stay well.
I agree with the friends part, Paul! Everything seems to taste better when you’re with good company. And maybe it’s just me but the libations also seem to be doubly as good too.
You may have missed my post this morning so I hope you get a chance to go back and give it a read. David is looking for questions from us to answer and I’d like to make sure that you’re included. Remember the cool video he made for us when he was in Germany? Well he’s back and graciously offered to do another one! Mosaic also gave me reason to pause,but having gotten that anagram,and being an avid golfer,,who only plays golf on the days of the week that end in a “y”,the puzzle solution was a quick solve.
Good evening. Did you know Steve if you spoke German and lived there you would NEVER play golf. I must admit though that as I get older I am expanding my horizons. I would never watch a whole football game or a tennis match and I’ve done both this year. Who knows maybe I’ll watch a whole round of golf. Then again I wouldn’t place a wager on that ever happening. Hi all – MOSAIC would have taken the longest, but it’s on my list of words that have stumped me so often I now usually recognize them (like CASINO, UTOPIA, SPRUCE, etc.) For the answer, I thought maybe they’d be enjoying the TEAS or the LAST something, but the letters showed it.
My favorite details were the server’s bow tie, vest and name tag – how classic!

Like Steve, mosaic has tripped me up in the past but not this morning. I’m also with you, Steve on casino, utopia & spruce. Got the cartoon answer without much difficulty either so all in all it was a successful Thursday effort. Hope all of you have a good day.
I struggled with this entire puzzle and never could figure out the final answer.
Not being a golfer, I always seem to shank the solution. Best I could do today was NICE AMOURS.
