ANSWER:

IT REQUIRED FIXING, SO THEY HELPED REPAIR THE TOWN CLOCK IN ITS – – –

FE TO END MIE = TIME OF NEED

Good Morning, Everyone! ย  ย  ย  ย ๐Ÿ•ฐ THIS TIME, THE FIX IS IN! ๐Ÿ•ฐ

๐ŸŽถ TIME is on my side, yes it is…TIME is on my side, yes it is…Go ahead Baby, go ahead, go ahead and light up the town…And baby, do anything your heart desires. Remember, I’ll ALWAYS BE AROUND…And I know, I know like I told you so many times before, you’re gonna come back…Yeah you’re going to come back, Baby knockin’, yeah knockin’ right on my door, yeah…TIME , TIME, TIME is on my side, yes it is, I said…TIME, TIME, TIME is on my side, yes it is…๐ŸŽถ “Time Is On My Side” – The Rolling Stones 1964

๐Ÿ•ฐ You gotta love a towns big clock, that sits in center square,
Perhaps a TOPAZ-colored face thatsโ€™s seen from here and there
Itโ€™s tower tall and stately, a FLEET of ships would know,
How close they were to porting as they saw its lighted glow…
So looking to EXPAND its life, fund-raising is on tap
Repairs are needed so that they can keep it on the map…
And hoping things go MILDER than to find themselves too short,
Theyโ€™re trusting generosity will keep the plans from thwart
The totals they are rising, this town’s devoid of greed…
Theyโ€™re out to save the clock they love…now in its TIME OF NEED…๐Ÿ•ฐ

So Folks, we’re starting off hour weekend with all hour words clocking in as old favorites…while on the other hand we’re faced with all new anagrams. And it’s EXPAND showing as the newest entry, while FLEET, last seen in March of last year, is also playing a second role, with a showing back on 09/29/11. Now that’s a long time to count in-between, isn’t it? And it was MILDER that caused a bit of a tick with the Early Birds. Anyway…Iโ€™m geared up now to move on to our cartoon…so letโ€™s not waste any more time

Ok, so I may need a hand here. Finding ourselves somewhere in small town USA, I can’t pinpoint exactly where we are…But we’re encountering two Jumble characters, a man and a woman. The signage is telling us that funds need be raised, since the time has come to do some repairs on the towns’ clock. The man, manning the collection site, is thanking the woman, while she, eager to help out, is seen handing over two bills as a donation. In fact, she goes as far as to say that the clocks’ constant presence has always kept her from being late. So I guess it’s a case of one hand washing the other...And in answer to our question…people helped the clock…in its TIME OF NEED. Well done, David! You’ve clocked in with another good one!

So, eye candy. Again, as I mentioned earlier, this is all second hand information, since I don’t know where we are. Perhaps time will tell. But I can point out that behind our man is a tote board with a large red dot showing the fundraising total almost reaching its goal, and reading “Help us raise funds”…We see a banner across the table reading “Save the Clock”. The man is pointing to the clock, while the woman’s glancing upward at it. And there’s terrain silhouetted in black at the background, with five trees displayed. But there’s two things that really caught my eye this early A.M. First, way above the tower, if you look real closely, you’ll see a bird sitting at the very edge of its first rung, while two rungs higher at the very top, two more birds are perched. But even better, secondly, what we can see of the clock facing us, the time’s reading 2 o’clock. And yet, if you look to it’s left side, it reads 6:30…Which despite being the best time of day, hands down…it definitely proves that it’s time for repair! So, There you have it, Folks! Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And I always wonder if I should have gone to work in a clock factory…I probably could have had the time of my life...๐Ÿ•ฐ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  1. ๐Ÿšข Since the weather had turned MILDER, she decided to go down to the piers for FLEET week, but after she lost her TOPAZ bracelet there – the one with the band that could EXPAND…she really felt a TIME OF NEED to find it…๐Ÿšข

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป Wanting to EXPAND his running time โ€˜cause he hoped to compete,
He started training every day to get those feet of FLEET…
He kicked-off with a MILDER route, and later built terrain,
But never did he think that heโ€™d fall victim to a sprain…
So now heโ€™s bandaged all around, with TOPAZ-tinted gauze,
And he fears this will blow his chance of running…all because…
He didnโ€™t pace himself just right, his thoughts had turned to greed
And now he might be sidelined…for he was in TIME OF NEED…๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป

  2. Good morning. Milder is my choice for hardest word. All the other words were instant reads but Milder. I played with the letters to come up with it and was surprised it was so simple. The cartoon answer was brilliant which didnโ€™t take much time to solve. Perfect song choice Angela. Really enjoyed listening to it. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Iโ€™m glad you liked my music choice…I wasnโ€™t sure if the Stones would meet with your SATISFACTION!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And they were sooooo young here, right? ..and to think they’re still touring. Amazing! Thanks for the Shout Out, and I agree that itโ€™s a clever one….And I think MILDERโ€™s gonna be todayโ€™s stumper…big TIME! Have a great day, Brooklyn! Stay dry! ๐Ÿ’ฆโ˜”๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  3. Morning, Angela and Everyone โ€“
It went well for me except for Milder, which I had to back into. I always look for the word time with a clock puzzle, so that helped. Thanks for pointing out the birds. I can barely make them out, even with my magnifying glass. Also, thanks for the great puns each day and everything else!

    • Good Morning, Caroline…And thank you sooo much for your kind words. Youโ€™re very sweet. Hereโ€™s a real magnified look at the puzzle… https://tinyurl.com/y2s89aeq. I really got a smile seeing those birds! ๐Ÿฆ And great move looking for TIME..it definitely SET the pace for the solve! Wishing you a wonderful day, Caroline! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

      • Thanks for the link, but how do I make the drawing bigger? I’m sure you’ve explained this before. The only digital device I have is a desktop.

        • Oh..a desktop! Would you believe that I havenโ€™t used one in about 10 years! Iโ€™m so dependent on my iPad! But first…did the link open full screen? If so, the birds should be visible from there…But to zoom in on a certain area, on a tablet, you just tap on it with your thumb and forefinger and spread them out…I have to be honest, Caroline, Iโ€™ve forgotten how to zoom in on a desktop…or if itโ€™s even possible. READERS:๐Ÿ—ฃ๐Ÿ—ฃ๐Ÿ—ฃ…We need a HAND here!! Anyone know how to enlarge a pic on a desktop? We could use your help!!! Anybody??? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

          • Hey, my memory still works a little! I sort of remembered holding the control key and using the mouse scroll wheel to change picture sizes.
From the Wikipedia entry for โ€œScroll Wheelโ€:

โ€œIn many applications (e.g., web browsers), holding down the control key while rolling the scroll wheel causes the text size to increase or decrease, or an image in an image-editing or map-viewing program to zoom in or out, if such a feature is available. Also clicking the link with a scroll wheel button makes the link open in a new tab, and clicking on the opened tab closes it.โ€

            • Stands the test of TIME, huh? Tks, Steve. And Caroline, I hope it helps…๐Ÿ–ฒ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

        • Iโ€™m so happy to hear that Caroline! These days, Iโ€™m amazed when *anything* works! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

          • Steve…I think I messed up the replies earlier. I was distracted, so I deleted them both. And seriously., WTG! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Tks for your help. I had a feeling youโ€™d come through! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

        • Caroline..Iโ€™m so glad it worked! I hope you enjoy the cartoon! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  4. Speaking of fleet week,we’ve been in NYC in the spring for fleet week. There were sailors here there and everywhere.Agree that the cartoon solution was obvious with milder giving one reason to pause.

    • Good Morning, Professor! I too have gone to many a Fleet Week. Itโ€™s like being in a candy store! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And the ships were nice too! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Yes, the solution was pretty much a given…and it definitely looks like MILDER isnโ€™t going so SOFT on people today! Hope youโ€™re enjoying your day! ๐Ÿšข๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  5. The FLEET of TOPAZ hummingbirds decided to EXPAND its flying space to include MILDER weather countries.

    • Iโ€™m not even going to attempt a sentence after reading this one. Excellent job, Chuck! And Iโ€™ll be sure to keep an eye out for that fleet of hummingbirds. I once read that theyโ€™re so aggressive that if they were the size of robins, it wouldnโ€™t be safe to walk in the woods.

    • Hey Chuck! Great imagery! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป And isnโ€™t TOPAZ a great word? Thereโ€™s just something so exotic about it…Hope your morningโ€™s going well…Have a good one! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

      • Topaz is, indeed, an exotic word, Angela. It’s also associated with Alfred Hitchcock as he directed a movie with this title.

        • Yes, Chuck, he did. Unfortunately, not one of his best tho…I could never get into it…I always felt that it paled in comparison to some of his others…๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  6. Hi all – Another vote for MILDER, but after trying ED at the end, putting ER there showed it and the rest of the puzzle was easy.

๐ŸŽตโ€Outside my window was a steeple
With a clock that always said Twelve-Thirtyโ€๐ŸŽต
I donโ€™t think there was any hope for John Phillips to ever see *that* clock fixed, though.

At first glance I thought it was Big Ben again, but obviously not. Maybe a college campus somewhere (in the Midwest?)

    Have a great day, everyone!

    • I was telling Mike that at first glance my mind initially went to the London Tower too, I think itโ€™s reflex!…But since there wasnโ€™t any spire, I didnโ€™t bark UP that tree. (Plus they didnโ€™t solicit for help with the repairs) ๐Ÿ˜‰…And itโ€™s looking like MILDER is WAY UP THERE in the numbers! Have a great day, Steve! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

        • LOL! No, not really…I just got a little TICKed off when I realized I might be off on a wild goose chase trying to identify the location!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  7. Like others, milder gave me pause though I was able to figure it out. Cartoon answer fell into place easily. Wishing all of you a good time this Saturday,

    • Hey Betty…itโ€™s a landslide! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And wishing you a good TIME ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป too today! Enjoy! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  8. Do I get 1/2 a point. I came up with “need of time” for the answer. It didn’t look right but when I checked the answer I slapped myself (but not too hard).

    • LOL! We really donโ€™t give out points here…But how โ€˜bout we just give you an A…for Effort!? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
