Happy Tuesday everyone! I’d say David scrambled the difficulty level of the puzzles this week because yesterday’s doozy was quite the challenge for a Monday. I honestly didn’t know what to expect this morning but it looks like we’re back on the regularly scheduled pace of things.
Our esteemed wordsmith started us off with a brand new clue word but quickly changed course and tossed in a few repeats to finish it off. GLMOU was the only anagram that we’ve definitely seen before with each of the trio having been played in various months of last year. NOGGIN is my pick for today’s hardest word because it had all of the letters for a solution with an -ING suffix but little else. After running in circles for a minute I finally decided to separate the N’s and pair up the G’s. Sometimes you’ve gotta rely on the basics when an anagram has you flustered!
It’s an early morning for this young Jumble family. Mommy looks like she’s been up for hours and is probably flying high on an adrenaline rush right about now. The dialogue and sentence inform us that she’s a little behind schedule but she has to clear up one small detail before heading out. Junior desperately wants her to take his teddy bear to the race but she has to somehow decline the offer in a gentle but loving way. She doesn’t go into a fell explanation as to why she can’t run with a stuffed animal but adult solvers could easily deduce why it wouldn’t be such a great idea.
I really enjoyed the stark contrast between both of the adult characters. Dad has sleepy-looking eyes and hasn’t managed to get dressed while his wife seems raring to go. He does have his morning coffee squared away and it’s in an “I ❤️ Jumble” themed mug. If you’re interested in having one of your own they can be purchased right here.
The final solve was an anagram consisting of 12-letters. The layout may have started with RAN but the visual clues in the cartoon brought RUNNING instantly to mind. ALONG was quite visible in the remainder and allowed me to cross the finish line with ease. Have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow!

Of being called a MOGUL…how they oft went hand-in-hand…
Whether mastering a TURNIP crop, or updating toboggans,
One needed to work hard but also really use your NOGGIN

I wondered about MOGUL at first. I didn’t recognize it as meaning an important movie person, but instead as an obstacle in a ski competition. I wondered how such a specialized term would get into a Jumble. I had put it in the same category as ALLELE, SYZYGY, and CERIUM. It is not a word I use often. I found NOGGIN also hard, as well, mainly because I don’t use that word either. The double meaning of MOGUL might be the subject of a future Jumble; perhaps a skier has to ski down a slope with people like Steven Spielburg, Justin Bieber, and so forth standing on it and he has to avoid them.
Howdy Jim. It looks like David was testing your NOGGIN with MOGUL. I’m sure you’ve heard of the word even if you don’t regularly use it. No need to make a mountain out of a molehill my friend. 😉
Good morning. Another successful day from the words to the cartoon answer. Once I wrote down all the letters I saw the first word fairly quick. Great song choice Angela. You know she wasn’t into running all the time. But that didn’t make her all bad. She was more of a humanitarian. It is to be noted that I do have a big grin on right now. Anyway, until tomorrow stay well.

TURNIP took a pause, the rest were easier. I found that the longer the word, the more difficult for me. I did get the solve though, after

Noggin was a quick solve but not turnip,even though I had the cartoon,”running along ” solution, and needed the u I and n.
Hi all – Saw UPRINT and UPTURN before getting TURNIP, and of course GOING before NOGGIN. MOGUL took me the longest. Thought RUNNING EARLY as opposed to “running late”, but the letters showed ALONG.

Hey Steve….🎶Runaway🎶 played in my head too, but for some reason I had 🎶 Runaround 🎶playing a lot louder…In fact if you note my email, I first posted as RUNNING AROUND, instead of ALONG. (I don’t know why, since I’d already solved the puzzle – half asleep I guess)…so it definitely HAD to be Dion. But then I saw the error of my ways…It didn’t take A LONG time to notice! 😉…and I quickly re-wrote the last 2 lines of the poem…

As usual, the Jumble is fun to do. I didn’t get TURNIP, instead I had gotten TURPIN. I did get RUNNING, but I culdn’t get anything with the remaining letters. I must admit, I cheated and saw the remaining letters. Of course, Along jumped out.
