Happy Tuesday, everyone! Zipping down a country road with the top off looks mighty fine right about now. They’ve probably got the radio cranked up too. The weather seems to be cooperating for the happy couple as they head towards the bottom of the valley, but where they go once they get there might be the bigger question. I’m pretty sure they’ve got a destination in mind, although sometimes the best parts of a trip are the moments and experiences you encounter while trying to get there. I wish them both all my best!

The streak of new clue words continues for the third day in a row with David adding BORUT into the lineup. And wouldn’t you know that it just happened to be the only one that stumped me this morning! After a minute or so of trying almost every possible letter combination that I could muster, I happened to look at the letters in reverse. Violà! The answer was as clear as the day shown in our cartoon. Just like yesterday, the remaining three words didn’t put up as much of a fight. DPLUED was the only anagram that we’ve definitely seen before (1/30/12) while the other two clock in as new.

The couple seen in today’s panel reminded me of David and his beautiful wife Claire. Maybe it’s just that anytime I see a bald person in one of Jeff’s cartoons I automatically assume that it’s him. The face of the gentleman was left blank, but there were those three distinct dots on his head. He wasn’t wearing glasses either, but I’ve seen caricatures of him without them. Maybe the guy is the person that had the umbrella covering his head in yesterday’s panel. Now THAT would be quite a story. We’ll have to patiently wait until tomorrow to see how it pans out.

The final solve was similar to yesterday’s in that one word, THE, was given to us and 8-letters were needed to solve a couple of 4-letter words. The two D’s coupled together first caught my attention. Adding RO from the front of the layout nearly spelled ROAD. DOWN was a no-brainer to find in the remaining letters to bring the puzzle to a close. Have a terrific Tuesday, and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow!

  1. I could be wrong but I think everyone eventually solves the words and the cartoon Jumble so the point of the voting is to find out which one of them took you the longest to solve. Obviously some are tougher than others. To just say none of them gave you any trouble defeats the purpose of the voting. Just a thought! Thanks for the extensive daily rundown of each Jumble!

      I’d have to disagree with you on the voting though. I understand what you’re trying to say, but there are those rare mornings where neither the words or the final answer give me any problems. I’m sure most folks vote with your way of thinking and there’s plenty of votes cast each day to make it all balance out.

      • When I first started reading this forum (not very long ago), I was also confused by the options in the poll I was confused which button to select. Many times I had some trouble with a word or two but did solve the Jumble. I wished there was a way to press more than one option so I could vote for a word that did slow me down AND the “I got it” button. I finally set my own standards. Today’s was so easy (under 2 minutes to complete) it was an easy button choice. This Sunday I selected GEYSER because of the amount of effort and time I spent on it. Strangely, I usually have no trouble with a new clue word (like TURBO) and assume it has been used before until I see on this forum or another similar one I have followed for a long time that indicates the word was indeed new.

    • Wow, we don’t usually hear from you Jeff. I agree with Mike. While I can usually get the anagrams there are days, unfortunately, (usually Sunday) when I’m simply stumped by the cartoon answer and horrors have to look it up. So I love it when I’m able to check the box that says nothing tripped me up – a small victory but a victory nonetheless.

  2. Good morning on this Tuesday/Monday day. Yesterday and today should have been reversed. No problem on either end. In fact the cartoon answer was a blind solve. Until tomorrow stay well

  4. I also didn’t think turbo was a word in and of its self,but deciding it was the only solution for that anagram,down the road was a quick solve.
    Even though I did get the turbo solution,I voted it as most difficult.

    • Hi Chuck. Good Morning. You’re welcome. A few of the Early Birds use the Uclick version to work the Jumble. They were speaking of it y’day. I only use an iPad, so I can’t even see it, Apple doesn’t support it. And late last night and this morning a few of them told me that it’s incorrect today too…Beware! LOL! Hope all is well. 🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Hi all – TURBO took a few extra looks before putting O at the end; likewise for ORNERY which I seem to remember seeing here and know mostly from old TV Westerns. DOWN the ROAD made sense looking at the view in the cartoon.

    When I drove down Baja California long ago, there were a lot of signs I hadn’t seen before that said “ARROYO”, and it soon became clear that it meant a steep drop and then rise worse than our cartoon today, and the warning was because they could become deeply flooded fast if it rained. Both the last Jumble word YEONRR and the picture reminded me of them.

    🙇🏻‍♂️With all these laundry detergents claiming to be TURBO-charged…he thought he’d have an easier time with his new washer…so you can understand how ORNERY he became seeing the PUDDLE on the floor, and how quick he was to WAGER that he’d end up DOWN THE ROAD at the laundromat…🙇🏻‍♂️

  9. Good afternoon. Always enjoy your slant on the daily jumble Mike. As I said before I look but not really look and absorb the picture in it’s entirety. Angela saw yesterday’s late message. Am I missing something or did you just want me to hear another song that I never heard before. It was interesting, the man could always sing and act as well. Take care.

I just put the song up for you because of its title…🎶 I Don’t Stand a GHOST of a Chance With You 🎶…and then I commented on the person who mentioned Ava Gardner “stomping on” Sinatra’s heart.
