Good Morning, Everyone!        🦃  TALK TURKEY TO ME 🦃

🎶 MR. TURKEY, MR. TURKEY…Run away, Run away…If you don’t be careful…You will be a mouthful…Thanksgiving Day…Thanksgiving Day… “Mr Turkey” – Unknown – Sung to the tune of Frère Jacques

🦃 That time of year has rolled around, the Holidays are here,
And once again we HUDDLE close…to end another year…
Thanksgiving Day means lots of food, a WALLOP it’ll pack,
And speaking of Thanksgiving Day? We see Mac King is back.
He holds a frozen turkey, not TAWDRY in it’s size…
And since it’s not the only one…a crowd we can surmise…
Will descend on Mac’s PALACE, the home of this mad-hatter…
He’s looking flustered…but by Jen there’s nothing all the MATTER
With more to do this early start cuts out the LUNACY,
That oft times tends to happen when a feast like this will be…
Jen’s thinking on the right track…day by day do what she can..
The stage is set…she’s prepping…a real WELL “THAWED”-OUT PLAN! 🦃

It’s Thanksgiving Week, fellow Jumblers, and today as we return to our regularly scheduled programming, we’re being served six Sweet Potatoes, I mean Sweet Repeats, with just one leftover anagram, LAPLOW, seen back on 05/16/10. And it’s HUDDLE that comes in as our freshest entry, having graced our table on 03/25/2018...And except for a slight bone of contention amongst 3 of the Early Birds over TAWDRY, all of our words were easy to swallow. And now, without further Perdue..our cartoon…

For those of you who adhere to a steady diet of Jumbling, todays characters are familiar faces, and major players in the Jumble Family. As in many Thanksgivings past, today we find ourselves in the kitchen of comedic magician, Mac King, and his beautiful wife, Jennifer Sils. Getting a leg up on the Holiday PLANning, we see Mac holding a huge turkey, looking a little flustered, and exclaiming how rock-solid it’s frozen. Jennifer, handling it much butter, calmly tells him that they’ll definitely thaw by Thursday, and she’s determined to talk turkey, by moving on to the next item on her to-do list. She has a PLAN. This woman’s on a mission…Truss me, Folks, organized and not intending to be tied down by poultry details that could possibly put her into a fowl mood, she’s not the yeast bit worried. Jen’s determined to have plenty of extra thyme on her hands, not brine on her hands, because she has a …WELL “THAWED”-OUT PLAN! Drumstick, please!..I mean, Drumroll please! Really good one, David! You had me at FROZEN!

Ok, eye candy. Mac’s wearing an orange plaid flannel shirt, and gold insulated kitchen mittens, as he grasps the turkey, which has a small icicle adhered to its covering. Frozen water vapor can be seen wafting from his mouth as he speaks. Hmm…Makes you wonder just where he was getting those turkeys from…must be a really deep freezer! Jennifer, is dressed in a pink top, and is seen leafing through her PLANner. But I was disappointed to see that her burgundy apron doesn’t read “Kiss The Cook” as it has in years past…Oh, but wait…we’re NOT cooking yet, are we? Hmm…And a wall oven can be seen behind her…But the real meat in this cartoon? What’s making me bite? First, the Turkey wrappings read, Mr. Turkey, and he’s seen carrying a walking stick, dressed in a top hat, and of course tails! But even butter than that?…What really caused a POP to my EYE? The Potatoes. The orange bag, to the side of the second turkey, (which also has an icicle showing), reads “I YAM WHAT I YAM”…with a Yam drawn, and the brown bag beside it reads “ THE EYES HAVE IT“ POTATOES with an Idaho drawn. IDAHO how he does it! I actually baste out laughing! N-ICEly served, Jeff…n-ICEly served! So, There you have it, Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone…And since it’s only Sunday…Is there perhaps a week of Thanksgiving puzzles on the menu? Are our Guys PLANning to stuff the next four days with Turkey-flavored cartoons? Hmm. C’mon Guys..Talk Turkey to me…🦃🙋🏻‍♀️

  1. Morning, Angela and everyone –
The only related word I could think of was thaw, which made me think I’d have to give up on this one. But I was able to get the answer by writing down all the four letter words I could think of and trying them.
The drawing made me think of our dog, when he was a puppy, barking at a frozen turkey on the counter. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday.

    • Hi Caroline. Good Sunday morning to you. And good job! 👏🏻👏🏻 Frozen did it for me…And Jen saying that it’ll be fine. So, I knew THAW had to be in there.,,But with the first and last words being the 4 letter ones, I did pause. Then the PLANning hit me, so I worked the solution backwards, and looked for the pun. I refused to do the words! LOL! I’m so thick-headed…Rock-solid like that Turkey! 😂 But it definitely is a witty, clever one today. David never ceases to amaze me! …And I can picture your dog. So sweet the memories, right? Have a great day, Caroline. Stay dry..it’s pouring and windy here, and I know you’re getting hit too….A real TURKEY of a day, 🦃🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Angela, I could never have gotten this one without knowing the letters. You are the master! I agree it was a very clever and funny one today, and I’m thankful to Jeff and David for all they do.

        • Thank you, Caroline, but I hardly think of myself as such. I’ve just been doing these for so long, that it just comes naturally. And as I mentioned the other day, my head is STUFFED with idioms…it’s weird! And I think in rhyme half the time. A definite menace! 😂😂. And as for David and Jeff? Without a doubt the Dynamic Duo. Doing this every single day? Definitely no walk in the park! 🏆🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤦🏻Trying to avoid the LUNACY that usually accompanied these TAWDRY PALACE soirées, he ended up taking a WALLOP of a hit by allowing the men to handle the MATTER, and called an emergency HUDDLE in an effort to try for a WELL THOUGHT OUT PLAN…🤦🏻

🏈 The Quarterback stood solidly within the HUDDLE there…
Despite the WALLOP he just took, a MATTER he would bear…
The team still playing TAWDRY, with LUNACY abounding,
He closed his eyes and shook his head..it all was so confounding.
A PALACE for a King he mused, a locker room for him…
He shuddered as he thought about his future looking grim…
No longer did he rule the league, where he was once the Man…
Now feeling desperation..where’s that one WELL THOUGHT OUT PLAN? 🏈

  3. Hi all – I didn’t have as much trouble with the words as I expected at first glance. Putting UN first didn’t work, but having the letters together and putting Y at the end showed LUNACY. PALACE took an extra look. And if people didn’t like ATONAL yesterday, how about TAWDRY? I got it, but I can’t remember the last time I’ve actually seen it used. I didn’t get the hint of THAWED right away, so I saw PLAN first, then WELL which showed OUT and the answer.

I also liked the food wrappings Angela. “I Yam What I Yam”? Sweeeet! I thought that might lead to PopEYE potatoes on the other bag. (Two kinds of potatoes? Let’s get some variety in here!)
Maybe her apron doesn’t say “Kiss the Cook” because she’s not thawed out yet either, but I trust she will be by Thursday.

Have a great day everybody, but it won’t be as great as whatever the Cal Berkeley football team is having!

“It didn’t MATTER how TAWDRY a scheme the King had involved himself in at the PALACE, it was LUNACY for the princes to HUDDLE up and devise a plan to WALLOP him”.

    • Of course two kinds of Potatoes…and prepared 4-5 different ways besides…It’s Thanksgiving, Steve…You count your Blessings, ..not your carbs! 😉..(And there’ll be SPINACH too)! 😉 But Jennifer? Thawed out? No need…The woman’s a sweetheart…as warm as they come..And your sentence 👏🏻👏🏻 has a slight ring of reality to it…There’s definitely some LUNACY going on at the Palace this week! 🙄 Have a good one, Steve…Oh, and BTW…I use Tawdry quite often…😉🦃🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. No problem w the anagrams today, even tawdry.Speaking of turkey dinner and all the trimmings, stuffing is my favorite along w the white turkey breast meat, but not so much the sweet potatoes nor the cranberry sauce,of course pumpkin pie w whipped cream topping is to die for,but do not ‘stuff’ yourself, even if you love the stuffing.

    • Hey Professor…I’m with you. I can make a meal out of stuffing alone…and it doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving either! But usually I eat most of the “Thanksgiving” food the next day. We go Italian first on Thanksgiving Day…so by the time the turkey comes out? Most of us are already looking for the oxygen! 😂😂 Have a great day, Prof. I’m off to get something to eat! 😉🦃🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Though all the anagrams were slow, WALLOP stumped me, it was a slang word to me and therefore unacceptable. Thought about PALLOW, but noticed the same three letters were circled and decided on WALLOP. No matter, solve eluded me. Welcome back hyphens and quotes, how was your sabbatical? Til tommorow, stay well.

  7. Got all the anagrams without difficulty and the cartoon answer as well though that took a bit longer. Once I figured out thawed the rest of the words fell into place – really good puzzle today. Liked your Mr. Turkey song, Angela. Have a good Sunday all.

    • LOL! Hi Betty, Good Morning! Thank you! 😂 The real Little Ones have been singing it for weeks now, it’s a Pre-School favorite. They sing it over, and over and…OVER! ..🙄.They so make me laugh! TBT, I had something else in mind too, but I’m not sure if this will be our Thanksgiving puzzle or not. Mike and I were talking this morning, and we’re thinking that it seems a little early to be seeing it. Mike’s figuring we may have a continuing story line on tap, and I definitely THAWED something was odd about Jennifer’s apron. We may just be SERVED up a SLICE of Thanksgiving one day at a time! Be still my heart! 😉 And yes, I totally agree…a really good puzzle today…Enjoy your day, Betty! Goblet 🍷Goblet🍷🦃🙋🏻‍♀️
