Let’s face it, Folks, I’m sure “It Don’t Come Easy”, but it looks like David’s done it again. “Because” “I Want to Tell You”, I searched and searched and I couldn’t find MALLET. Our other words, old favorites, and FOUR of them even go back as far 2010-11-12 and ‘15. MEMOIR, which was the only word that gave the Early Birds “Something” to pause over, is our oldest, seen back on 01/27/11, and PUFFIN was last RECORDED here on 04/14/19. But it does look like we have all new anagrams. Ok..And now our puzzle…”From Me to You”…
As many of our dedicated players know, THE BEATLES are no strangers to the Wonderful World of Jumble. We’ve seen them featured here many, many times over the years…And yet, there’s no “Maybe….I’m Amazed” still, every time I see them. And even though it’s well known that when it comes to The Beatles, Jeff, our illustrious artist can definitely “Dig It”, it still manages to “Please, Please Me” when I awaken from “Golden Slumbers” and find them here in a puzzle…
November, 1964, and we find ourselves at either Studio 54 or 55 of the ABC Television Studios in Los Angeles, where the show AMERICAN BANDSTAND is produced and filmed. Previously located in Philly, since February, it’s now moved out to LA. And DICK CLARK, the host we see here with the teens, can’t hide his enthusiasm speaking about The Beatles. With one #1 hit after another, they became FIRST in the hearts of music lovers, and had changed the face of American music by 1964…and now Dick’s about to introduce their newest hit, “I Feel Fine”. And “Do You Want to Know A Secret”? There were a slew of hits that preceded it that year alone, with “All My Loving”, released in February, still one of my favorites…So, in answer to our question…The Beatles were…FIRST AND “FOUR-MOST” in 1964. Excellent pun, David! Maybe ONE of your best yet! And “I Should Have Known Better” than to expect anything less!
Ok, eye candy. I’m trying to look at “Every Little Thing”, but “Isn’t it a Pity” that nothing seems to be hidden today? The panel’s awash in light purple, with the American Bandstand logo appearing on the drapery, and we can see the old-time camera used back then for filming. But wait…there is something that I find endearing. The young teen farthest left? If you look real closely, you can see that he’s wearing a tie. Now that’s something we don’t see much anymore, but back then, it was a normal part of “A Day In The Life” when going somewhere special…So, There you have it Folks, Done. Have a great day, Everyone…”Here Comes the Sun”, and as usual, I have a million things to get to. I swear, there could be “Eight Days a Week”, and I’d probably still be falling all over myself trying to keep to a schedule! Oh well, that’s me…a regular “Day Tripper”!🎸🥁🙋🏻♀️

🏏 While playing a friendly game of croquet, someone suggested serving PUFFIN at the annual dinner, and the committee chairman, finding it nothing less than SAVORY, threw down his MALLET, saying FIRST AND FOREMOST that he’d never INVEST in such a meal, possibly one day having it noted in his MEMOIR that he’d eaten Puffin…and that he’d admit DEFEAT and quit before he’d agree…🏏

Not only were they “First and Four-Most” they were “Five-Most”, simultaneously holding down the first five spots on both the U.S. singles and album charts in April of 1964, a feat that astounds me to this day.
Fun writeup, Angela. I recently had a conversation with a guy in the comments section of a comic I follow that consisted completely of Beatles’ lyrics.
Angela, I think this is the greatest and best coincidence we’re ever had here – it was only a few days ago that you posted a link to “Suspicion” by Terry Stafford that showed him performing the song on American Bandstand and then being interviewed by Dick Clark, with “Meet the Beatles” hanging on the wall behind them. It’s not “Maybe I’m Amazed”, I’m definitely amazed!

Okay, I’m still around. I was really surprised to see a Beatles puzzle on Nov 10 when there were none around Paul & Ringo’s birthdays last summer. I’m a little miffed that the last few Beatles puzzles always seem to be based around the word “four”–as if the most outstanding thing about the Beatles was that there were four of them! Maybe I’m being a little touchy.

Solved the words though I was hesitant on MEMOIR & PUFFIN. One I use to sound worldly and the other in High school biology. As for the solve I thought the quotes would refer to a clever restatement of a song’s title. WRONG! As for the “mopheads”, they could not pull me from mourning, although one of Lennon’s songs “Imagine” gave me hope. Looking for an easy Monday.

Good Monday morning. It’s 12:54 am. Went to A /C with my oldest and daughterinlaw. On the way I got all the words. The hardest for me was memoir. Up in the room I wanted to finish but I left the paper in the car. Last Wednesday I went to Resorts with the church bus and dropped 500. This time we’re staying at Harrah’s but we had brunch at Caesars and because I’m a veteran we saved 26.00 on the bill. If I only knew that we would have used it all the other times. We played at the Oceana and I hit for 589.00. Take care.

And when you get a chance, take a look online…There’s a slew of sites that have listings for all the places that offer Military discounts, not just today, Veterans Day, but everyday. I know my friends always use their ID at Home Depot and Lowe’s, Applebee’s, Dunkin’ Donuts and IHOP, Kohl’s, Macy’s and Foot Locker, just to name a few off the top of my head. I know Outback offers a 10% discount all the time, and for Veterans Day it’s 20%. There’s tons of places…Here’s a link to the American Legion site, but there’s a lot of other sites also. And as far as I know, a good number of AC locations afford the discount too. As for today, Veterans Day, a good number of restaurants offer free meals to Vets, I know Applebee’s for one, has been doing it for the last 12 years. And now that I think of it, I’ve heard a lot of Vets ask if a Military discount is offered at various places, and almost every time it is. I did not get started on the Jumble until almost midnight and about to give up. I have only done that once this year. I kept thinking there must be a clue in the cartoon somewhere. Being a Beatles puzzle, I was sure FOUR was one of the words. I also felt the 3 letter word was AND. It bothered me that “number one songs” was here TWICE. Hmm, #1…FIRST! Now it all fit.
