Happy Monday, Jumble friends. Did you spot anything out of the ordinary in today’s clue words? David composed his surname in the middle of the third one! Now how’s that to get our week of puzzle solving off to a great start?!

All of our words may have been repeats, but there were two new anagrams to play with. Both DUEFG and RHOYTW made their way into gameplay while KTLEN and KORMES return for an encore. None of them gave me any treble and I found myself at the cartoon in no time flat!

The setting for our panel appears to be a night club of sorts. We see three women enjoying some drinks while the pianist prepares to play some tunes. The dialogue and sentence clue us in to the fact that she’s unfortunately injured her right hand and we can see the bandage wrapped appendage down by her side.

My favorite detail had to be the ultra-glossy finish of the “Jumble” piano. If you look closely at the base of the martini glass, Jeff added a few lines underneath the circular foot to show how shiny the surface is. The oversized tip glass was also a nice touch, and it’s half-filled with bills but they don’t have any denomination on them.

The final solve was an anagram consisting of 6-letters that just couldn’t hide the solution. The EK at the beginning brought KEY into view, leaving LOW to be easily found in the remaining letters. Have a merry Monday, and I’ll see you right bach here tomorrow!

  1. Good Morning, Mike and Everyone! No matter how you TIP THE SCALES…this one’ a winner! Have a great day! 🎹🙋🏻

🎶 Sing us a song you’re the PIANO man…Sing us a song tonight, Well we’re all in the mood for a melody…And you got us feeling alright…🎶 “Piano Man” – Billy Joel 1973 https://tinyurl.com/l97ao4h

    🎹 A neighborhood Piano Bar, a pianist who’s sore,
And patrons sympathetic to the bandage that she wore.
Knowing she’d hate to FUDGE it, and not give it her best,
Relying on her left hand WORTHY and up to the test…
Like those who’ve KNELT in homage, these patrons loyal are,
A bar without a SMOKER, they had searched for near and far…
So they are happy just to hear the Jumble’s ivories…
Slowed down tonight’s ok with them…they’ll all keep it LOW-KEY🎹

  2. And on another NOTE…🙋🏻

🍫 Hoping to stay LOW-KEY, but still make FUDGE WORTHY of her Mother’s, she decided to try using her portable SMOKER, and KNELT to retrieve it from the bottom shelf..🍫.

🚬 He used to be a SMOKER, and had tried so long to cease,
He even KNELT down in his Church for guidance and some peace…
He started eating lots of FUDGE in efforts to allay,
The craving for the nicotine that he had every day…
So, now he’s free to mingle, WORTHY of the smoking-free…
But he’s gained so much candy weight…he’d rather stay LOW-KEY! 🚬

      • LOL! …And it’s because I’m sitting here working my way through bags of Peanut Butter Cups and Kisses! It might not be FUDGE, but the end result may very well be the same! Life imitating Art! 😂 I think I’m taking this National🍫 Chocolate Day wayyyy too seriously! 😉 Thank you, Chuck…And have a great night…I’m going to go punch 🥊 🥊the bag for a while before this chocolate finds a permanent home! 😂🙋🏻

  3. Good morning. In the work place we have the saying TGIF. Well in the jumble world it’s TGIM. Monday’s is usually a feel good morning thanks to the boys easing us in gradually. I’ll give them a high praise for their low key answer as well as Angela’s fine work. Until tomorrow stay well.

  4. Wow another super quick puzzle this morning. We’ve been on a roll the past few days. Can a stumper be far behind? Our poor state is on fire again. So far no power outages in S.F. but the sky is red this morning and the air smells like smoke. How are you doing over in Oakland, Steve? Hope all is well with you. Happy Monday to all.

    • That’s just terrible, Betty. I was watching Live Rescue on A&E and the focus of the whole program was on wildfires in San Bernardino. They spread insanely fast…..

    • We’re doing fine Betty, thanks for your concern. No power outages planned for us in the flatlands by the shore, but I can see where there are some. You know the big Mormon Temple up in the Oakland hills? It’s always illuminated and I can see it from my living room, and last night it was dark, so it looks like they turned things off from about Highway 13 and higher (Montclair, etc.)

    • Hi Betty. Good Morning. You know you’ve been in my thoughts and prayers since the beginning of it all. As has Steve.I email him every day to see if he’s being affected. And I know this is just the littlest bit of trivial consolation, but today is National 🍫Chocolate Day, and this morning I wondered if you knew. I hit up my Halloween stash…twice so far….And the days still young! Be well. Stay safe. 🙏🏻🙋🏻

  5. As he KNELT down to pick up his cigarette butt, the SMOKER decided he was WORTHY of the job since he felt he was certainly qualified and didn’t have to FUDGE any answers on the application.

  6. Being an accordion player I can sympathize with the problem of a sore hand.As far as the puzzle,no problem with the easy Monday anagrams and 6 letter obvious low key solution.

  7. I hate it that our paper is printed in a fashion that the subtleties of the drawings are usually obscured. Thanks for always being so diligent in your observations since they don’t show up for readers of my local paper.

    • Hi Susan. It’s not just your paper. The newspapers don’t print the Jumble large enough to see the little details. Check with your local paper though, because almost all of them now offer a free Eversion included with the paid subscription. The one in my paper is in color, and it opens large enough to fill the entire face of my iPads screen. But there are websites on-line that we use to see all the little tidbits we speak about. This is one of the better ones. https://tinyurl.com/y2s89aeq Thanks for commenting, and we hope you do so again. Have a great day, Susan! 🎹🙋🏻

    • My pleasure, Susan!
You can click HERE to check out the Jumble puzzle on the Chicago Tribune website. If you use a tablet, you’ll easily be able to zoom in and see all of the hidden gems that Jeff often leaves for us to find. Happy Jumbling! 🙂

  8. Hi all – Easy words and puzzle today. I had a quick thought of “By Ear”, but seeing her left hand gave me the hint and a laugh at LOW KEY.

“Sharp” eye seeing David’s name in the words, Mike! And your last sentence reminds me of the note on the music teacher’s door that read “Bach in an hour – Offenbach sooner.”

Loved the poem about the reformed smoker, Angela, and it applies to a few of my friends.

I’m thinking that that’s a glass of Elderberry Wine that we see as the woman plays the song from Elton John’s album “Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Only the Piano Player.”

    Have a great day, everyone!

“The air-quality technician was not WORTHY of his position and KNELT in shame before the judge when he was caught trying to FUDGE the data from the barbecue’s SMOKER.”

    • Thanks, Steve! I don’t recall David doing that before so it was super fun to find.

So if the music teacher doesn’t come BACH, does that mean she’s probably HAYDN somewhere??? 😂

      • She won’t get far – her boss has a long Lizst of her Haydn places – there’s a SCORE of them! 🙋🏻‍♂️

  9. KNELT took me a while, the others came easy as did the solve. Ok, so what’s with the Nationals? This year every club, every league, seems to be looking at ways to discourage bettors and create massive losses or maybe find monies that will fund the new contracts. $20-30 million per signing? WOW! Have a great day all.
