CARTOON ANSWER:

WHEN THE SENATE STRUCK DOWN THE BILL TO PROTECT THE TREES, IT WAS AN – – –

ACE SNG FRO XOS  =  “AX” OF CONGRESS

Good Afternoon, Everyone! 🌲PINE..ing FOR THE ENVIRONMENT🌲

🎶 They took all the TREES and put ’em in a TREE museum…And they charged the people a dollar and a half just to seem ’em… 🎶 Big Yellow Taxi” – Joni Mitchell 1970

🌲 Some people feel that if they have a CACHE of trees they own,
That what goes on beyond their homes’ not in their comfort zone…
But we all need to understand that FERVOR for our earth,
Is something we owe back…and should preserve for all it’s worth…
So whether you’ve SWUNG from a tree…or have thoughts tenuous,
We can’t stand here and turn our backs…do a mass EXODUS
Environment’s too fragile, it’s not just a more or less…
And we need vote for those who respect these “AX” OF CONGRESS…🌲

Today’s words were all last seen between April and December of 2018…and since it’s so late in the day, I’ll just LEAF it at that…

I tried to see if this vote really took place, and I just found myself UP A TREE. The name Aldo Leopold turned up, but I couldn’t nail down anything definitive. And trust me, I SWUNG from one website to another…So, I’ll make this short…It’s definitely a period piece, late 1800’s? Your guess is good as mine. Trees aren’t really my rELM. I will tell you that Lyndon Johnson signed the WILDERNESS ACT into law back in 1964, and just this past March, a sweeping land protection bill was also enACTed. If there’s a connection, and that’s what David and Jeff were going FIR here today…then there YEW have it. I’m really not sure. MAPLE one of then can let us know…But with our question stating “STRUCK DOWN“, and the letters…CESNGROS giving us the Senators…Well let’s just CUT to the chase. It was an “AX” OF CONGRESS…A TREE mendous pun!

The eye candy? First row…CEDAR third man over? He’s asleep…with his jacket hanging on the back of his chair, his head way back, and his mouth wide opened…That’s it…in a NUTshell…So, There you have it, FOAKS, Done! Have a great day, Everyone…And lets ALDER the right thing by this Earth of ours..There won’t be another…🌲🙋🏻

  1. A SWARM of his members
    Left the chambers
In a mad FERVOR, CACHE of paper in hand
An EXODUS nonetheless after performing yet another
    AX OF CONGRESS

    Respectfully,

    JimO

    • HI Jim. Nice to see you again. And we’ll done, Sir! 👏🏻👏🏻 Wishing you a great day! 🌲🙋🏻

  2. Good morning. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t blueberries suppose to be brain food. I have it almost everyday with cereal yet I didn’t realize I had FERVOR all the time. It was the last word I came up with but still wasn’t sure until I checked. The cartoon answer was another stumble. Congress took a lot of time to get and the 4 letters left overs had me annoyed as most times it does when one of them is in quotation marks. Yea I got it but hardly ever like its meaning. Oh well others will think it’s cute. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Afternoon, Brooklyn. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it all this morning. But there’s always tomorrow..Hope your day’s going well! 🌲🙋🏻

  3. Good point. This is positive for climate change. Although we all enjoy a joke
climate change I’m sure you will agree is not a joke. Bravo to you.

    • Hey RJ…No, it’s not a joke…but every once in a while, David and Jeff give us an environmental wake up call…And I applaud 👏🏻👏🏻 them for it! Hoping you’re enjoying your day! 🌲🙋🏻

    • Hey Professor. The quotes? They might be troublesome..but oh so rewarding! 😉 Hope your day’s going well, Prof! 🌲🙋🏻

  4. Hi all – Once again, the short words were my hardest. SWUNG took an extra look, but CACHE didn’t jog my MEMORY until quite a few Jumbles.
Got the “AX” from the reference to trees, but had to write the letters to see CONGRESS.

Have a great Friday and weekend, everyone!

Those of us in the Central, Mountain and Pacific time zones get a Friday the 13th full Harvest moon tonight (just after midnight back East), and my weather is perfect for seeing it tonight.
🎵“I got silence on my radio
Let the air waves flow; Let the air waves flow
‘Cause, I’m just about a MOONLIGHT mile, on down the road”🎵

“He SWUNG by the river to retrieve his CACHE of supplies in the FERVOR of the EXODUS”

The British Invasion was in full force at Peet’s this morning – Eric Burdon and the Animals, “It’s My Life”
🎵”It’s a hard world to get a break in
All the good things have been taken
But girl, there are ways to make certain things pay
Though I’m dressed in these rags I’ll wear sable someday
(And discuss it with James Earl Jones in an elevator)

It’s my life and I’ll do what I want
It’s my mind and I’ll think what I want
Show me I’m wrong; Hurt me sometime
But someday I’ll treat you real fine”🎵

  5. Hi Everyone –
What helped me get the answer was the an at the end of the clue sentence, which required a vowel for the first word. I was able to see exodus only because I remembered it from previous use.
I don’t recognize any of those songs, Steve, but I like them.
    Wishing all a great weekend.

  6. Clever puzzle this morning. “Ax” of congress – good one. No problem with the clue words or cartoon answer. It’s a gorgeous day here. Hope it’s a good day in your little part of the world as well.

    • It is in my part, across the bay! 😂 It has just recently become dark enough when I get up at 6 to still be able to see stars now, and it’s been so clear that Orion is very prominent in the morning sky, reminding us to enjoy the last of summer and fall before he shows up in the Winter evenings.

    • I agree, Betty…really good one! So clever! And yes, it is gorgeous here today too..rare that we get to enjoy the weather together! Have a great day! 🌲🙋🏻
