🐦 I could write a NOVEL ‘bout the problems that I’ve had,
With birds taking up residence, and driving me half mad.
They’ve nested in my awning, and ACIDIC droppings fell,
And I don’t have to tell you that it isn’t all that swell…
I’ve tried a million different ways to get them to go free,
Cajole, EXTORT, and bribery to lure them to a tree…
And all the WHILE resilient, these little guys don’t quit,
The property rights battles on, and I still DWELL ON IT…🐦

DWELL, DWELL…With no new words to CROW about this morning, we also have one of those RARE FINDS where we see a repeat anagram. HAWKward? Not in the least…I’d like to say, HERON now, that I’m SWOOPed away by how David manages to TWEAK out so many different variations of the same word, and I would think it to be a bit of a BIRDen…yet it obviously isn’t to him…The man definitely has a great TAILent when it comes to this! But today we do have a true TWEET Repeat with NOVEL. Last seen on 03/22 of last year as Volne, it also appeared exactly as it does today, VONLE on two previous occasions, 10/24/16 and 04/24/17. Our other anagrams are new, and EXTORT comes in as our oldest word, with a 10/14/12 showing, while ACIDIC is our most recent…last seen on 04/08/18. And the TAIL END, WHILE, was last in play on 07/23/16…And if I was forced to go OUT ON A LIMB, and choose the stumper of the day, I’d say it’s ACIDIC, since it is the most PECKular looking of all our anagrams today. Ok. Now, the NEST stop? Our cartoon…

FLEDGLINGS aside, many of you may find that today’s theme RINGS a bell. For SOAR we’ve been UP A TREE many times before in the past, in fact not too long ago, on July 14th, we CLAWed our way through a BIRD puzzle about Eagles…And FEATHER you remember or not, we pretty much FLEW right through that one…But we do seem to be BARKing up a familiar TREE. Today, we see a Bird Couple, Gregory PECK and his wife, TAILor SWIFT, (she kept her MAIDEN name). Looking for the ideal DWELLing to raise their future BROOD, we see them sitting on a LIMB that just isn’t suiting their SEEDS. We overhear Tailor telling Greg, as she points towards the ill-fitting NEST, that she guesses they can’t stay there, while he asSOARS her that there’s no reason at all to BROOD or FLY off the handle, and not to give it a second thought…There’s plenty of other places they can move to. You know, BRANCH out…Find another TREE that would better fit the BILL. And without going STORK RAVEN mad, they decide to not… DWELL ON IT! Good one, David! You always LIVE up to your reputation!

Ok, eye candy…There’s not much in the way of deTAILS today. After all, we are up in a TREE, HENce…the PECKings are slim…There’s really nothing deSKIESed. We see the ground, an expanse of green, and some black silhouetted foliage along the back, all under a clear blue cloudless sky. We have our two Brown Birds PERCHed on a Brown Tree. And the NEST shaded a golden hue, is a TWEETsed mess of straw and twigs…like it really was put together on the FLY…But I think I’ll go with Gregory. If you look real closely, you can see that he has his WING protectively draped around Tailor. Such a TWEET touch – they’re BIRDS OF A FEATHER…So, There you have it, FLOCKS…Done! Have a great day Everyone…And remember…You’ll never have a murder of CROWS, without just CAWS! BYE, BYE, BIRDIE! 🐦🙋🏻

  1. At first I thought these words were for the BIRDS, but then a few thoughts FLEW by me…🙋🏻

    📚Considering the first draft of his NOVEL to be too ACIDIC, the subjects tried to EXTORT money from him, WHILE he continued to ignore them, and refused to DWELL ON IT…📚

    🍯 The idea was quite NOVEL, vinegar that’s not ACIDIC,
    Although detractors cried out that it could be cataclysmic…
    He ignored talk of EXTORT, determined to succeed,
    And all the WHILE he studied how he’d use a mustard seed.
    They still berated him, and yet his tongue he constantly bit,
    The haters always hate, and he just wouldn’t DWELL ON IT 🍯

  2. Good morning. Well done Angela, Queen of puns. From that, to use of the words, to the song choice, you slam dunked it. My choice for hardest word is Acidic. I had to look it up. The cartoon answer took some time to get. I really had to Dwell on it to finally get the answer. Until tomorrow stay well.

  5. Hi all – I guess they really did decide to take it easy on us this week. The only pause was seeing CICADA, but a second look showed it had to be ACIDIC. The answer layout had to be something like ON IT, and the dialog made me smile when it led to DWELL.

    I like the perspective in the cartoon which I think we’ve seen recently, but I don’t have any observations to add, so I’ll just wish you all a great Friday and weekend.

    I also like Chuck’s sentence better than mine, but here goes anyway.
    “He came up with a NOVEL plan to EXTORT money from the power company – hack their emissions control system and wait for the pressure to build to pay the ransom WHILE the smoke became more and more ACIDIC”.

      • I’ve never experienced cicadas. However, my daughter and son-in-law spent two years in Nashville. They arrived at one of the years when it was ‘“cicada season”. They were horrified. We don’t have bugs like that here. Thank goodness.

        • UGH! Betty…you’re lucky! I’m sure your daughter’s told you. They’re horrid little creatures. And a few years back, during the Season, I never left the house without a hat….I heard stories of them falling from the trees into people’s hair….So many of them…So gross! 😖🙋🏻

  8. Still laughing at choice of words and answer. WHILE the ex-husband was left to DWELL ON IT in an anteroom, the ACIDIC ex-wife and her lawyer sought NOVEL ways to EXTORT huge alimony from him. Are the cartoonists going thru something?

    I couldn’t get acidic until I realized it was probably the last word and I needed an i. I also didn’t think of the two meanings of dwell right away.
