🇫🇷 By careFULLY being FRUGAL. and tightening his belt,
He managed to swing this here trip…he saved up enough gelt…
She thought that he was being a TEASE, for often she would query,
If they would ever do Paris…it got like DOMINO’s theory…
‘Cause one by one the years went down, and never did they go,
His secretive saving was something that she just didn’t know…
So now that it’s come true for them…her joy she cannot stifle,
And happiness is evident…for these two GOT AN “EIFFEL” 🇫🇷

As another work week draws to a close, today we’re given four words that we’ve SEINE before. FRUGAL comes in as our most recent entry, with a last appearance on the 4th of July last year, while DOMINO is stacking up to have its 10th Anniversary, since I found it way back 01/10/10. And with FULLY having been seen on 06/10/14, and TEASE, on 12/14/17, we’ve shed LIGHT on all of our words today, and can see that our anagrams are all cleverly new. …So now, let’s deTOUR to our cartoon…

Ah, Gay PAREE! The City of Lights! Finding ourselves on the Champ de Mars, in Paris, France, we join a couple as they marvel at the beauty of the EIFFEL TOWER at night. And what a SIGHT to SEE…But let’s face it, Folks…This one’s a true TOUR de FORCE. So with our question asking us what they got when they saw the “PARIS TOWER”…that LIGHT has to immediately go off…They…GOT AN “EIFFEL”! TRES BIEN, Monsieur..for sure!

Ok, eye candy. The Tower, illuminated in gold against the darkened Paris sky, stands surrounded by flowing tiny stars that are reflected upon the blue-black mirrored water of the River Seine, where a barge is seen floating. But the man’s right hand placed on the woman’s right shoulder as they gaze upon the beautiful sight? Pure AMOUR! As if he’s telling her…EIFFEL for you! Need I say ‘MOUR?   1. Although I love solving these word problems, I hate trying to fit my head around the solution. I think I am too logical to come up with an “off” the wall solution, which defeats the purpose of Jumble Solution. I don’t like having to leave the sense for this game to something that is irrelevant, such as guessing what is possible for a solution. I like the old way which affords me logical solutions.

    • Good Mornng, Rita. Since our function here on our blog is to report and comment on each day’s puzzle, I’m in no position to speak on the creation of them. Maybe David, who masterfully produces them, may see this and address it. But I’m sorry to hear that you’re unhappy, and I hope your day goes well. 🙋🏻

    • I totally agree with this comment and feel exactly the same way. I do the Jumble everyday and cringe at answers like today’s.

    • Hi Ray. Good Morning. Yes, it could. But since setae is somewhat of a biological word, I guess it would come under the umbrella of a medical entry. David’s said that he doesn’t use medical words of any kind, and both he and Jeff have mentioned that they only use words that are found in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary…And that’s all I got, Ray.   3. Good morning. It says Mike but the song choice is Angela. Way back when, we left Germany a day early to see the Eiffel Tower and other sights but got stopped at the border because they had stamped my mothers papers not returning. We stayed at the train station with my aunt while my mother and father went back to Bon Bon to straighten out the mistake. Because of that long delay we just saw it from the hotel window. My choice for hardest word was Frugal. Had the others in less time it took me to get that word. As for the cartoon,I actually had Eiffel at the very beginning but dismissed it. To me this was another lame answer. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn, yes it’s me! I didn’t notice that we failed to change the name. I’ll get on it…I love your story Paul. I’ve told you since I first met you, that you need to write them down, for your kids and your grandkids. Or at least record them. They’re wonderful stories. But I’m so surprised to see the displeasure with today’s solution. I think it’s such a great pun, and the word TOWER is serving EIFFEL up on a silver platter. IDK!       • Yes Angela you are correct about Eiffel being handed to us because of the way the sentence was worded but I just didn’t see the tree in the forest with the other two words. That’s my problem though. Most of the time I don’t think the answer is clever when it’s in quotation marks. Take care.

      • Thanks for the song Angela. My sister in law from your neck of the woods travels all over to see him sing. That’s her favorite singer. I usually end my conversations with my children saying I love you. They are never too old to hear it.

  7. I’m in the minority today but I enjoyed the puzzle. I do always find the quotation marks fun. I struggled with frugal as well as the cartoon answer because I kept thinking it would be “eyeful” but of course couldn’t quite figure out a way to get “Y” in there and had an “F” left over. At any rate, hope all of you have a Happy Thursday.

  8. Hi all – Only TEASE took two looks; everything else was instant.
    I guess there’s no accounting for taste. You know I’m with Angela, Betty and others – I think the Jumble is only half about unscrambling letters. The other half is getting the answer, and the answer is and *always* has been a pun, which I love and is a big reason why I’ve been playing all these decades. The quotation marks only appear when the pun requires a word that’s a homophone of the required word to make the pun work. (One of the characters in “Luanne” is named Ann Eiffel.) So keep it up Dave!

    • LOL! ..And thank you for that remedial course of Jumble 101! 😂 Different strokes. Steve. Not everyone’s of the same mind set. And I remember David saying that on any given day he’d be inundated with emails…both pro and con for the same exact puzzle. So it’s not that the “idea” has changed, but we have had a few puzzles that pushed the envelope. Did the stretch…So I can understand people becoming a bit disillusioned. You know it’s funny. In my paper, the NY Daily News, we’re given 2 X-word puzzles a day. For a while now, the 2nd puzzle has taken a turn, so to speak. It’s definitely different. The questions and answers are more “trendy” for lack of a better word, and there’s some puns and play on words sprinkled throughout. I enjoy it, but I really didn’t give it a second thought. Well, the last two weeks or so, people are writing in to the “Voice of the People”, complaining like crazy. They don’t like the “new” slant it’s taken, and they’re all up in arms. And one has to see their point. I don’t know what the answer is, (no PUN intended)! 😂 , but I can definitely see where some people are coming from..Phew! 😉 Anyway, Nice sentence….and on point! This is definitely not the time to be investing FULLY in the market. I’ve been very careFULLY diversifying! 😉 …And Sinatra? Mike could never go wrong! 😉 Have a great day, G! Enjoy!   9. Afternoon everyone. I got all four words then tried to GUESS the answer. I came up with “got an eyeful” since the answer was in quotes, I thought a play on words, wrong! It was spelled correctly.
    But, that’s what makes this puzzle fun, you have to think out of the box sometimes. Hope everybody has a deLIGHTFUL day. Sonny

    • Hi Sonny….Uh..well…spelling does count! 😉 But I have to say, everytime I’m reading “EIFFEL”? I’m laughing! It’s a great pun…and very witty. The EIFFEL was an EYEFUL! How clever is that? As I said earlier, I really felt today’s puzzle was a gift, as I like to call it. Once I saw the Eiffel Tower in the cartoon, and read only the word Tower and not EIFFEL Tower as part of the question?…It was a walk in the park…Or a walk along the Champ de Mars! 😉 To me anyway….But I live for a good pun, so I may not be the best person to go by….And yes, thinking outside of the box never hurts! But sadly, today, not everyone seems to be in agreement with David. So, where I FELL head over heels, others feel it fell flat.   10. I think you should have a vote on answer too! Many times I get the words but not the answers!!

    • Hi Dorothy. We recently did begin including the answer in our poll, when we saw that people were having an easy enough time with the words, but were getting stumped by the solution. If you look above, we’ve added it at the end of the poll, after the day’s words, and it reads just as the circled letters for the day do. Today it’s listed as: FLTEEFGAINO. And it has been an EYEFUL seeing the number of people who’ve been putting their votes in…Thanks for commenting, Dorothy, and we hope you’ll do so again. Have a wonderful day! 🇫🇷🙋🏻

    • Dorothy. I just realized something. The puzzle answer starts off at the bottom of the poll, but as the votes come on, it rises up the scale. You just need to look for that days’ answer letters to locate it on the poll. Sorry for the conflicting information. 🙋🏻

  12. I don’t get the complaints about this puzzle or any other Jumble puzzle. They use puns…a play on words. As soon as David omitted EIFFEL and simply put the word TOWER instead, one should know what to expect next! I am SMH.
