Happy Monday, Jumble friends! David brewed up a great pun to start the weak, and it surely perked me right up! All of our anagrams were brand new, but their solutions were recycled favorites. HARDER was the only one that caused me to pause which will make it my pick for the most difficult anagram of the day. I thought PADDLE was going to be a contender as well, but the double D’s brought it straight into view. Since all of the words were used in 2018, I didn’t have to search too hard to find them. SNIFF was served up back in December which made it the freshest, while HARDER last appeared back in March making it the boldest.

My Monday morning wouldn’t be complete without looking back at the polls from last week to see which words gave us the most trouble. Here’s a list of the most difficult anagrams from Monday to Sunday. And just a word of caution… They might stir up some sedimental feelings:

  • SCRITT
  • DILMED
  • PIAMHS
  • TAWEYS
  • SSWITE
  • KAMBER
  • VESEWR

Moving along to today’s cartoon, we see four Jumble characters on the edges of a coffee plantation. The brewmaster appears to be Java Joe himself, but he’s not serving up a palatable product. The sign on the make-shift counter indicates that he’s asking a premium price of $4 per cup which is a tall order for these tourists to swallow. There are flies buzzing around the sack of coffee beans to his right, and one of his customers has spotted a twig bobbing around in her brew. Poor Java Joe has a latte problems going on with his business right now and it looks like his best days are behind him. Maybe it’s time for him to bow out of the daily grind and move oolong to something else!

The final solve was an anagram consisting of seven letters. The HA coupled neatly together brought HAS into view leaving BEAN to be easily deciphered from the remaining letters. The grammar police might knock the guys for omitting a hyphen in the answer layout, but I think it’s brewtiful pun no matter how you look at it. Have a marvelous Monday, and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow!

  1. Good Morning, Mike. Good Morning, Everyone! ☕️ BREWS fooling who? ☕️

🎶 Way down among Brazilians…COFFEE BEANS grow by the billions, so they’ve got to find those extra cups to fill….They’ve got an awful lot of COFFEE in Brazil…🎶 “The Coffee Song” – Frank Sinatra. 1946 https://tinyurl.com/y49o5ay4

☕️ Have any of you tried to conquer life without Caffeine?
Are you like me, who’d rather give up your old favorite jeans?
One SNIFF is all it takes for me..it just keeps getting HARDER,
Addiction comes to mind if I just look into my larder…
Like up that stream sans PADDLE, without coffee I’m no good,
I love the BULKY sweater scene with walks around the hood…
A cup of steaming coffee ensconced within my hands,
And I’m completely satisfied, my day is looking grand…
So I can’t blame these people…From the looks of what we’ve seen?
Reverse cup runneth over… he deserves being HAS “BEAN” ☕️

  2. Good morning. Happy Monday to all. No problem with the words or the cartoon and I didn’t even have my coffee yet. Until tomorrow stay well.

  3. As a heavy & bulky boater I always have to paddle harder to get across the lake…. sniff….sniff.

  4. …From me to BREW…Have a great day, Everyone! ☕️

° It was HARDER to PADDLE while wearing the BULKY slicker, but he could SNIFF rain in the air, and he was determined to finish and not be labeled the town HAS BEAN…

° The suitcase still too BULKY, some stuff just had to go…
But it was HARDER than he thought, how come he didn’t know?
He still could SNIFF her perfume as it lingered on his clothes,
Should he just leave his hand ball PADDLE? …Yes, he did suppose.
Things all would be so different now…no longer could he lean…
    On her because she’s had enough…and now he’s a HAS BEAN…

  5. With all of the BULKY boxes on the PADDLE boat filled with coffee grounds, it was HARDER for the drug searching dogs to SNIFF the scent of the illicit merchandise on board.

  6. Hi all – Saw the answer from the cartoon and that gave me the ‘H’ at the beginning of HARDER which I hadn’t seen at first.

That’s the most minimalist coffee bar I’ve ever seen. How does he even heat it up? Java Joe’s has-bean is ripe for a roasting by a Peet’s moving in.

Everyone’s got the sentences covered nicely, so I’ll just wish you all a great day and cooler weather.

    • They say the GENESIS of coffee resides in the story of a man named Kaldi. The 9th-century Ethiopian goatherder is said to have discovered coffee when he noticed how excited his goats became after eating the beans from a coffee plant.

          • Trying to work “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” and the goat into a joke….and failing miserably… 😂🙋🏻‍♂️

            • Lamb running feverishly from the scene of a crime, (that a goat committed), so as not to be blamed, trips on Broadway and can’t get up…Lying down, he gets run over by a cab…
              Sanitation Department arrives.
Worker, city boy, who wouldn’t know the difference between a goat or lamb if it was staring him in the face, starts to remove the splattered carcass and says to his partner…”Well, I guess we got our SCRAPEGOAT”….
              Pass the Pashmina…🐐🐑🤦🏻‍♀️

  7. Hello again my friends. I’m sure Angela knows what song goes with those words. I’m stuck with what comes next. Anyway, thanks Mike on those 8 jumbled words that we had before. It was fun doing them again and not getting stuck on a single one. Take care.
