Happy Tuesday, Jumble fans! I had no problem stitching together all of today’s clue words for an easy-breezy solve. We did have a newcomer to the party in HUMAN, and for such a simple word, you would have thought we’d seen it before. We have been graced by HUMANE a half-dozen times over the years, but the lack of an “E” made it a no-brainer. I’m pleased to report that all of our anagrams were brand new. Their solutions were all used in various months in 2018 with January’s MIDDLE being the oldest and December’s EXPAND being the most recent.

In today’s cartoon, we see a middle-aged seamstress that can’t seam to get her head above water. She’s surrounded by piles and piles of dresses that are in need of alterations and her co-worker has just brought her another one that needs to be finished by the end of the day. She doesn’t appear to be frazzled by the urgency of the request, so perhaps she’s a little too good at bottling up her emotions. She better be careful, though. If she keeps her mouth zipped up too long, she might turn into a sewciopath!!!

The final solve was an anagram consisting of 8-letters. At roughly half the length of yesterday’s layout, the answer came into view rather quickly. The “HME” towards the middle allowed me to find HEMMED which left IN for the snappy finish. Overall, I thought the cartoon was cute as a button, but the lack of difficult clue words made it a sew-sew challenge.     The seamstress is a God-send and each DIGIT of her hand,
    Makes our clothes look just perfect, so that we can look so grand…
    And I’m sure if there’s a deadline, then much to her chagrin,
    She wishes we’d all eat less…so she wouldn’t be HEMMED IN! 🧵

    Finding the HUMAN DIGIT in the MIDDLE of the expedition made him regret his decision of looking to EXPAND his horizons, and instead he felt terribly HEMMED IN…🙋🏻

  4. It is HUMAN to raise the MIDDLE DIGIT in traffic occasionally, but we need to EXPAND our sense of community.

    • Good one. Not to be redundant, but been there, done that. Thank God not any more. Guess I grew up. Too much negative energy wasted. I now just let things slide.

    I was happy to learn from Lelia’s daughter Joyce that she just had a party for her 80th birthday!
    She is busy with other things, as well as taking care of her husband.

      She brought nothing but joy and happiness to the blog and was always regaling us with her larger than life stories. I feel comforted knowing that both she and Jerry are doing well and I hope she’s still doing the Jumble every day. 🙂🙂🙂

  6. Thanks Caroline on the heads up on Lelia. Over time people have asked about them and nothing was said. My friend Marie from Brooklyn and I were concerned. We had thought the worst. I’m very happy she and husband are doing ok.

  9. Hi all – HUMAN was not a no-brainer for me, as it took me three or four tries to get. The rest were no problem, and seeing the letters gave the answer.

    Mike, your pun made me chuckle and made me think about taking a hike down the socio-PATH.

    Speaking of which, thanks for JOGGING my memory with that great song I haven’t thought about in forever, Angela. I hope I don’t find a human digit while jogging there, and I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to think along the lines of Mike M.

    • Hey, Steve…We’re out on the water, and for some reason the WiFi is THREADbare today…IDK why…It comes and SEWS, but we’ve never had a NEEDLE for another connection, so I’m at SEA as to why it’s happening…I’m typing REEL fast, before I lose it again…
      You want to know something, G…For whatever reason, I never stopped listening to this song. No matter how many times I update the playlist, it always makes the cut. There’s just something about it. And the funny thing is, when you’re around little kids, you constantly hear…”Yea, well so what”… and most times a “Well, SEW your pants” in response. It’s inevitable…I don’t know why, but it is. And every single time we go thru the scenario..(which is quite often)!…this song starts playing in my head…It’s all a chain reaction…
      And I’m laughing because I too went down the same ROAD as Mike, but I thought maybe it SEAMed a little “iffy”, so I changed my HAND! 😂 SEW..no, it wasn’t just you! 😉

      • I think I’ve heard that with kids, with the response being “sew buttons”. Another regional thing maybe? I can see that it’s hilarious up to a certain age.
        Out on the water sounds nice! Maybe the WiFi signal is getting interference from the WAVES. Have a great trip; later. 🙋🏻‍♂️

        • Steve..The “sew buttons” I remember my Mom saying to us when we were kids…But trust me, there’s nothing hilarious about the Little Buggers when they go off on one another…(Maybe that’s why I immediately go to the Tymes… to shut them out😉)…The Wifi and the waves? 👏🏻👏🏻 But not today…they’re barely reaching a foot….Tks for the wishes…Talk to you later. ⛴🙋🏻

  10. Easy peasy today w the anagrams and puzzle solution.We’re leaving this afternoon for NY state so I’ll be away from a rel newspaper so the online version will have to come thru for me.
