Happy Thursday, Jumble fans! Today’s puzzle seam’s like a repeat of Tuesday’s “NEIGH-BORS” answer. We’ve come to expect more of a challenge at the end of the week, but it looks like our favorite duo wanted to keep us on a level playing field. I have to give them credit for all the effort they put into creating these puzzles day after day. Not an easy task!

All of the anagrams were brand spanking new, but their solutions were tried and true favorites. None of them kicked me around and I was able to decipher them at first glance. The double T’s at the front of OUTFIT made it the trickiest of the crew so it’ll be my pick for the most difficult anagram of the day. DOCKET was last used on 5/31/17 which made it the oldest, while PRINT came into play on 5/8/19 making it the most recently used.

Today’s soccer themed cartoon was very timely seeing as though the FIFA Women’s World Cup finished up on 7/7! In today’s panel we see a couple of (future) soccer stars in the foreground while the team’s coach and talent scout HAMM it up in the background. Were you able to make out the path of the soccer ball from all of the action lines that Jeff added? He even slipped in a barely visible circle to indicate the ball bouncing off the player’s knee. Jeff sure is a keeper!!!

The final solve was an anagram consisting of 8-letters that would form into two words. Since the answer was in quotations we had to use our heads… no free kick here! Mr. Hoyt provided a brilliant defensive layout for such a small amount of letters and he practically spelled out RUN in the first few letters to try and trip us up. I happened to see FOUND by working the anagram backwards leaving PRO for the funny finish. Have a terrific Thursday, and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow!

  1. A special Shout Out this morning to our favorite cartoonist Jeff Knurek, on the occasion of his 12th Kidneyversary. 12 years ago today, Jeff donated a Kidney to his cousin, Bobby. Here’s to Jeff, here’s to Bobby, and here’s to the University of Michigan Health System’s Transplant Center. The Gift of Life. Respect…🍷🙋🏻

  2. Good morning Angela, Chuck, Steve, the anagrams we’re easy & the answer profound. As I’ve droned about before, I really appreciate split words & not the loong hyphenated & made up ones, so thanks guys.

    • Good Morning, Jamu. Yes, It was another easy go of it. And the answer was SERVED up by “Major League” giving us the PRO, and the dialogue “got 2 more” giving the FOUND. The bonus? …”Effect” = Profound! Very clever…But the long hyphenated and/or split? It’s all for the pun, Jamu. ..We all just wanna have PUN…Have a good one! ⚽️🙋🏻

  3. Good morning. The words were easy but as usual I have a closed mind when it comes to answers in quotation marks. I have my own which fails compared to their clever finish. Even though FOR POUND is lame, I think I should get a 1/2 point for something. Until tomorrow stay well

  4. Good morning again. Why the workers didn’t cover the court room in tarp was unforgivable because, the GROUT ruined the PRINT on the DOCKET papers and got all over the judges OUTFIT. Take care. Glad to hear that both parties are still doing fine after all this time. The gift of life is very precious and equally shared by both parties.

    • You beat me to the punch, Brooklyn…And you’ve done quite well! 👏🏻👏🏻Kudos! I can tell you’re really starting to enjoy this! And yes, what greater gift, right? I remove my cap to Jeff. …❤️🙋🏻

° Scrubbing so hard to get all the different kinds of PRINT out of the shower tiles caused it to smear all over…into the GROUT, onto the floor, and especially onto her OUTFIT…now her entire DOCKET for the day was ruined…and this had a PROFOUND effect on her mood…

° He ran a tidy OUTFIT, his DOCKET kept quite trim,
He started this new business, which made her proud of him…
Today he’s tackling bathroom GROUT, tomorrow laying floors,
Just like the PRINT says in his ad…”Jack of all Trades …and more”
Determined and hard-working, the business’s off the ground…
And she admires all he does…respect for him PROFOUND!

    • IMO, “soccer scout” was a little too obvious of a clue in the cartoon sentence, Chuck. It might have been more difficult if they alluded to who he was without stating it. Fun finish though! 🙂 🥅 ⚽️

  5. Hi all – Got all the words, but had no idea what the answer, or even the three-letter word could be until I wrote down the letters and saw PRO. Very cute!

I couldn’t come up with a good sentence, but Paul, I thought yours was, pound FOR POUND, your best yet!

Mike, HAMM it up? Mama Mia! 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Have a great day, everyone!

The music playing at the thrift store yesterday was a trio of disco hits: “Get down, boogie-oogie-oogie”, “Don’t stop till you get enough”, and Kool and the Gang’s “Celebration”, so I got to tell the clerk “Hey, the music’s so old today I recognized it!”
