THE BIRTHDAY BOY SWUNG THE BAT AND CAUGHT THE PIÑATA RIGHT IN THE – – –

TW   ESS   OP   ET   =   SWEET SPOT

Good Morning, Everyone! 🍬 HOW SWEET IT IS! 🍬

🎶 Alright everybody gather ’roundThe CANDY Man is hereWhat kind of CANDY do you want? Sweet choc’late, Choc’late malted CANDY, Gum dropsAnything you want
You’ve come to the right man, ‘Cause I’m the CANDY Man🎶The Candy Man” – Sammy Davis, Jr 1972

🍬 Piñatas can be so much fun, the colors and the treats,
You TWIRL around just hoping that your bat and it will meet.
Then NINETY things are strewn about, as MESSY as can be,
And all the kids go runnng round and pick up what they see…
The parents don’t OPPOSE it, all the kids love what they got,
A party’s not a party ’til the bat hits that SWEET SPOT! 🍬

As we start off another Jumble week, and while none of our words today are new, we are seeing a SWEET little quirk. One of our words may very well be in a class by itself. TWIRL. Before today, we had seen it on 02/06/16, and 06/07/18. And oddly enough, with today, it’s been anagrammed all three times exactly the same way, as RIWTL. How’s that for a PIECE of Jumble trivia? I really think it’s a first…And our other words not only go back in years, but they’ve all made recent appearances too. MESSY was in play back on 08/01/12, and again on 02/20/19. NINETY, seen on 07/30/14, also appeared on 09/26/18. And OPPOSE, seen back on 06/24/15, was also again in play quite recently on 01/03/19…where its anagram was the same one being used today. Another SWEET Repeat. And while the Early Birds did take their SWEET time in solving this lazy Monday morning, they all agreed that today’s puzzle is a definite HIT, and none of our words posed a problem. So, with that all taken care of…let’s see what TREAT’s in store for us this morning…

Today we find ourselves outdoors at a child’s Birthday party. It’s Piñata time and we can see that it’s a big HIT! Three little ones, two girls and a boy, are cheering on the Birthday Boy as he blindly swings at a traditional Piñata which is usually a Donkey as seen here. Having made contact with the Donkey, we hear a little girl yell, “CANDY“, and the two male parents in the background are heard saying that the boys’ “nice swing” has resulted in what in Baseball would be a “home run”. The little boy has hit the SWEET SPOT. Just the right place to release all the SWEETS inside. Great pun, David! And in case you’re not familiar with the term, here’s a good explanation

Ok, eye CANDY…The two male parents in the background are holding drinks, one a can, the other a cup. The children are all dressed in shorts and T- shirts and are shoeless, and our Birthday Boy is wearing a maroon colored blindfold. We can see his degree of concentration, since his little tongue is SWEETly hanging out to the right. The Piñata is colored red and gold. Numerous colored pieces of candy are seen flying around. But what I SPOT as the SWEET thing this morning? What OPENED my eyes? At top right, six pieces of treats are seen aloft. Going from left to right, piece # 4 is pink, and it reads “YUM”. A piece of Bubble Yum Gum. Definitely something I could sink my teeth into! So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, EveryoneAnd always SWING for the SWEET SPOT! 🍬🙋🏻

  1. GOOD MONDAY! the first day of the rest of your week. “The sweet…..post(?)stop(?)spot(?) I pick…….SPOT! Hey guys, it’s a good day, sun peeking o’er horizon, 78°, coffee, headline – USA WINS!

  2. I tried HITTING the right tone with today’s words…These might not be SPOT on, but being so busy, I’m not able to take all my SWEET time this morning…But, here goes…🍬🍭🙋🏻

°While he didn’t OPPOSE the idea of being given only NINETY minutes to clean up the MESSY yard, he feared that there was too much of a TWIRL with the wind, and the vortex in the area called the SWEET SPOT was going to be a problem to control…

°She longed to be a cheerleader, she saved the NINETY dollars,
And having paid the entrance fee, she couldn’t wait to holler…
She learned the cheers, did all the drills, some of them were quire MESSY…
But she had help from her good friend, the girl next store named Bessie.
She learned to TWIRL, did not OPPOSE correction when it came,
She was determined to succeed and cheer at the next game…
And maybe once she got it down and error there’d be not,
She hoped that they’d assign her the coveted SWEET SPOT

  3. Good morning. Thank Goodness for Monday’s. We can recover from a disaster on Sunday. I should learn not to be critical about Jumble being kindergarten 101 on some Mondays. At times I feel like a dummy and insulted that they make it so easy, but it’s still better feeling that way then after failing miserably. Ninety is my choice for hardest word because I actually had another word first and then realized I was wrong. The cartoon answer came quickly after writing down the letters. Nice job Angela. Song choice was good, but with your great powers I would have thought you would have picked The Candy Man by Sammy Davis Jr. He blows that group away. Thanks for the extra blue notes. It was very interesting about the sweet spot. I thought it was at the end of the bat, not a couple of inches up more. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • I knew it..I just KNEW it! LOL! 🎶 The Candy Man 🎶. Paul, you know I definitely had it in my head, but I just used that song not too long ago. I can’t remember exactly when but I know it was quite recently. I’m going to look. But I love how you’ve jumped on my bandwagon! We’re definitely in TUNE with one another! 😂 Anyway, Good Morning, Sunshine! ☀️And thanks for the (left-handed) 😂 Shout Out. As for the SWEET SPOT, how’d that get passed you all these years? See that, you can learn something new here every day! 😉 Have a great day, Brooklyn…and this one’s just for you…Enjoy! 😘🍭🙋🏻

    • Paul…I found it. May 31st. But I changed the lyrics to “Dandy Man”, because the puzzle was about a Tuxedo Shop. And you know what? You’re 100% right…I should have gone with it today. First instinct is almost always the right one…I think I’ll change it…🤔🙋🏻
Ok..Changed. I did want the word SWEET in there, but since there’s a gazillion songs with SWEET in it..I’ll just save it for another time…

    • What group was there first as it appears the song was switched to Sammy’s version?

      • Hi Clay. Good Morning. I had the Drifters 🎶Sweets for My Sweet”🎶 …And now I think I’m second..or is it third? 🙄 guessing myself! 😂 Maybe I should have done both! 🤦🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning Paul. Remember when I predicted that doozies we’re coming after I whined about composed long hyphenated puns? Well, the first was Friday, so stand by.The next might be alternate puns.Today with alternate clue(s) could have been “stewe pots” (olde English)

  5. Being MLB All Star game week, the puzzle solution, batting on the sweet spot, could be loosely baseball related.Today and the days after the All Star game, are just about the only days there are no major league sports games,eg. baseball, football, hockey,or basketball games being played.

    • Good Morning, Professor. Nice observation…I didn’t think of it related to the All-Star game, but how clever is the connection…Sweets and the Sweet Spot? A gem. I always enjoy the All-Star games, even tho as a National League fan I don’t get much to cheer about! 😂 Have a good one, Prof! 🍫🙋🏻

  6. I would like to receive this every day at my e-mail address. Any way to do this? Enjoy your answers. E-mail.

    • Hi John. Good Morning. Agree..it was an easy go of it today. Cute, clever and quick. Wishing you a good one! 🍫🙋🏻

  7. Hi Everyone –
I’ve really enjoyed the answers and drawings this past week. Fun! Today’s was very clever.
I pulled out my old wooden bat, and I see it has Yogi’s name and some writing on what I assume is the sweet spot/zone.

    • How lucky are you? Good Afternoon, Caroline. I envy your bat! 😂 And yes, the puzzles have been especially cute these past few days. A lot of whimsy…Hoping your day’s going well! ⚾️🙋🏻

      • It’s not Yogi’s signature, though, Angela.
Not so hot today. I just took a break from mowing the lawn. I’m seeing lots of toads this year for some reason.
Hope it’s a good day for you, too, and everyone.

        • Hi Caroline..Oh…it’s not? Well I won’t tell if you don’t! 😉 It’s not that bad here either, 75 ish…but the saving grace is that the humidity is below 60. It’s the humidity that’s lethal. I won’t touch on the toads, though..I’ve already got enough princes in my life !!! 😂😂 Here’s to the rest of a good day for us all! 🍷🙋🏻

  8. Hi all – No real problem with the words today. Thought about the answer for a minute, but “Candy” in the dialog gave it away.

They left out what seems to be the most important information these days – what was the kid’s launch angle, exit velocity and distance?

Funny that we were just recently talking about bubble gum (Bazooka, Double Bubble, etc), but I’m not really familiar with Bubble Yum. I see that it’s not a turn-of-the-century invention, so I guess it was past my prime gum chewing days. The “Yum” made me think of “Yum! Brands” which owns KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut, but not Wrigley’s as far as I know.

    Have a great day, everyone!

“The rink operator would OPPOSE taking a TWIRL on the ice whenever the temperature exceeded NINETY because things got so MESSY.” (Common conditions for a June Stanley Cup playoff game these days)

    • Good Morning, Steve. Yea, we’ve talked about “baseball by the numbers” too…A brand new world! 😉 Great take on the sentence……👏🏻👏🏻 Sweeeet! 😉 Have a good one, G! 🍫🙋🏻

  9. Hi everyone. Another easy one today. The words came to me quickly and the answer was just as fast. Two days in a row. The hard ones are on there way. I didn’t think I would get the puzzle today, because of to much partying last night. Needed three cups of coffee to wake up. Angela, you picked two great songs. Love both of them.

    • Hi Marie. Wonderful to hear from you again. Yes, we were given another gift today…easy, breezy. But let’s not worry about what’s coming. I think everyone’s getting so good at these, that there won’t be a problem at all. So…is there really such a thing as “too much” partying? 😂 I’m still learning! 😂 And thanks for the Shout Out. I think though that I may have created a monster with Paul😂 …he’s my in-house critic! But I still love the big lug! 😂 He’s the SWEETest man! Have a good one Marie…and maybe try some espresso? …☕️..Give you that extra kick. I sometimes just hook up a syringe! 😂🙋🏻
