CARTOON ANSWER:

THE LUNCH BUFFET AT THE TEXTBOOK WRITERS’ CONFERENCE FEATURED A – – –

CT  SB  FTE  NOL  AO  TNE  =  TABLE OF CONTENTS

Good Morning, Everyone!                🍪 BUFFET…YOU SAY? 🍪

🎶 I wish LUNCH could last forever…Make the whole day one big afternoon…We’ll begin with dessert, a little coconut tart, tastes as sweet as a piece of your heart…🎶I Wish Lunch Could Last Forever” – Jimmy Buffett 1989

🍪 A buffet sometimes can be just like CATNIP to a few,
So many different choices that UNROLL before of you…
One either can ABSORB it all, or FIXATE on one taste,
It all depends on if you TANGLE with a wayward waist.
This buffet that we see today, perhaps a SUBURB site,
The choices looking all so good..some heavy and some light,
Appealing and the diners seem drawn in by the good scents…
It sure looks like an easy read…this TABLE OF CONTENTS! 🍪

With our first Sunday puzzle of June, there may be a FRESH item or two on the menu. Not being able to locate SUBURB or UNROLL in the ArCHIVES, we may be adding two new words to the Jumble listings. Our other words…old favorites, with ABSORB serving up a DOUBLE HELPING of old and new, 12/03/14, and 11/28/18. FIXATE, having appeared six times before, was anagrammed just as it is today, back on 01/06/16. And the only word that the Early Birds had a bit of a hard time SWALLOWING, was UNROLL. Ok…Let’s SHELVE this PORTION of our puzzle…and get on to our cartoon!

Finding ourselves at a TEXTBOOK WRITERS’ CONFERENCE, we see four Jumble characters, marveling at how much FOOD is at STEAK at the LUNCH BUFFET. The TABLE is filled with so many choices, that it prompts the man at left to compare it to the Library’s spread. He’s saying that it’s much BUTTER here…The three other diners look equally interested…but perhaps with different TASTES. But there’s no doubting that this TABLE CONTAINS a plethora of gastronomical delight…So in answer to our query? The Conference featured a…TABLE OF CONTENTS! And how SAVORY is that? Good one, Guys! You’ve definitely WHET my APPETITE!

Ok, eye candy. I’ll mention FIRST…’COURSE I may be wrong, but I think the man and woman at left may be Jeff’s parents, Tom and Mary Lou. The other male, appears to be a teenager, and the woman at right seems a little under asSALT  over the Sodium CONTENT of a particular jarred item. Unfortunately, the TABLE’S completely shaded in a BLAND shade of beige, but I’ll take a BITE out of it and try to identify its’ CONTENTS. Here goes….From lower left…A plate of varied Crackers, a tub of Chocolate Chip Cookies, a covered platter of Cold Cuts or Deli Meats and Cheeses, a bowl of Potato Chips, two 2-Liter bottles of “FIZZ” Soda, a Ginger Ale perhaps, and a Cola. A tub containing something 2-colored, that I’d like to dub Ice Cream, but my mind’s sort of FREEZING up on the idea…A plate of Croissants, a platter of Crudités, and an unopened, unidentifiable tub. It’s a wonder how the TABLE’s holding up under the WEIGHT of OLIVE this food! It’s aMAIZEing really! But I’m going to go with that 2-colored tub, which happens to be next to a pile of napkins…If you look real closely, you’ll see that it’s marked “Jumble“. Hmm…What do you think, Folks? Is it Ice Cream? Is it FULL of Black and White cookies? Is it…oh, what WORD am I looking for?? Tell you what…how about you all DISH it out, and get back to me…MEN, ..U can start…So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! …And remember to leave room for Dessert! 🍪🙋🏻

  1. Good Morning, Chuck and Paul….This was a MOUTHFUL! 😉🙋🏻

° Reading through the TABLE OF CONTENTS, not wanting to FIXATE on that one point which might result in a TANGLE with the chairman of the newly-formed SUBURB development, he tried to ABSORB all the items that the meeting intended to UNROLL, but that one point was like CATNIP to him…and he knew it had to be resolved…

    • Second item on the MENU Guys! 🍪🙋🏻

° No one enjoys a TANGLE, no matter what the type,
You FIXATE on a certain thing…and it becomes all hype..
No matter in a SUBURB, or on a city street…
Issues UNROLL like CATNIP and you’re in the cat bird seat.
You try to make it civil, ABSORB both sides demands,
But usually you end up not looking all that grand…
You’re up against these residents all worried ’bout their rent,
It’s up to you to make sense of the TABLE OF CONTENTS…

  2. To ABSORB what is happening in the neighboring SUBURB, one has to FIXATE his attention on its CATNIP growing business and how they must UNROLL the TANGLE of a mess it appears to be in. Hope you’re having a good one, Angela.

    • Good Morning, Chuck! Kudos! 👏🏻👏🏻 I love UNROLL the TANGLE! It never even dawned on me to go with that! Well played! I’m doing well, thank you, and I wish you a good day too! 🍪🙋🏻

  3. Good morning. Had a horrible time with today’s puzzle. I was stuck on the two words with the double Bs. I finally had to give up and look for the answers. However, the cartoon answer wasn’t much trouble. It took only a few minutes to get once I had all the letters down. Another song that I never heard before. Thank God he knows how to make money. The good news is that I didn’t miss much. I know,I’m terrible but I do express my feelings, right or wrong. Nice job Angela and Chuck. You guys nailed it with your use of the words. Until tomorrow stay well.

  4. LOL! Brooklyn…You never fail to let me down..Even when you hate my music! And I definitely respect your opinion…Trust me, I knew you wouldn’t like it! But what’d’ya gonna do? This is life! I’m sorry you had a problem with the words today, Paul…but I’m glad you stuck it out for the solve. Thanks for the Shout Outs, Brooklyn…you’re always a gem! Have a great day! Enjoy! 🙋🏻

  5. Hi Everyone –
I struggled for quite some time with TANGLE. At first I wrote down galent, though it didn’t look right. Then I had trouble with the last word of the answer, thinking it would probably be a food term. A key clue turned out to be the woman looking at one item and noticing the sodium content .

    • Hi Caroline. Another enTANGLEment with TANGLE! 😉 Good thought on the SALT, I too found it important enough to highlight. Glad you stuck with it…it’s a good feeling when it all comes together, right? Have a great day, Caroline! 🙋🏻

      • Yes, that’s the reward. I kept wondering why this woman was talking about the sodium, which I also like to check on labels. It wasn’t until I finally got the last word that I understood. Wishing you and everyone a great day, too.

        • I agree, Caroline…It is so rewarding when that little light goes on, and you get that AH HA moment! I SAVOR those moments! And I too check the Sodium CONTENT on everything, since I have high blood pressure, I remember being so surprised when I saw that there was Sodium in Cereal! And here I thought I was being so careful..when all the while I was dealing with a CEREAL KILLER! The humanity! 😉 Wishing you a great day too, Caroline! Enjoy! 🍪🙋🏻

  6. Tangle was my most difficult word. Worried about a solution till “of” was entered & then letters “ta” popped out therefore table of something. Table of contents! Embarrassing that voters chose tangle as easiest anagram.
    Jamu

    • Good Afternoon, Jamu. Nice to meet you. Be assured, there’s no embarrassment to be felt…everyones’ minds’ eye sees differently. And how great that you held out for the solve! Thanks for commenting, and please do so again..Hoping you have a great day! 🙋🏻

  7. Hi all – Things started out ominously when I got stuck on the first word. After that things went pretty quickly. The ‘UN’ and double letter tricks both made short work of UNROLL, and I saw the metal polish BRASSO before ABSORB.
Went back and got CATNIP, and just happened to see the answer right away.

    Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Great job on the details Angela. I thought you might make a joke about the crudité of the cartoon, but it’s much too well-drawn to be appropriate.
I did have an instant thought on the ice cream, though. It looks like three flavors to me (dark on either end and light in the middle), and I assumed Jeff had dished up a tub of Neapolitan in your honor.

“When the feral population in the SUBURB began to FIXATE on the CATNIP garden and ABSORB its effects, they tried to UNROLL the TANGLE of blackberry vines to get a sweet treat”.

    • Hey Steve…I didn’t CHEWS any of today’s words to be difficult, and I’m glad the poll MEATS me on it…But as I said to Jamu, it’s all in the eye of the beholder…And comically, despite my aversion to cats, I laughed at CATNIP since it’s a long THYME running joke amongst us Round TABLE members. But aren’t you a Cat person? I thought for sure that that one would be easy, CHEESEy for you!😉 And as far as the Jumble tub goes? As much as I’d love for it to be Ice Cream, (I truly do have a love affair with Ice Cream), it really doesn’t seem FEASTible…Surely it’d be melted, and that tub looks perfectly intact. The 3-colored Neapolitan treat? The thought did cross my mind, but every site I looked at showed the same…as you say, two dark, one light…and to be Neapolitan, it would need to have two light shades and one dark …But thanks for the Shout Out to my people! We Napolitanos are a proud and lusty lot…and we do SAVOR our food! 😉 Plus I’m pretty sure Jeff isn’t aware that I’m one of the BUTTER Italians! 😂😂 Just one question…The crudités? You got me…I’m not following the “appropriate”, or why you assumed it’d give me FOOD FOR THOUGHT… Why would I joke about it? LETTUCE in on it, ok? …Anyway, great sentence, BTW…👏🏻👏🏻 I like your TAKE OUT 😉on it! Have a great day, G…Mangia, bene, Amico mio! 🍝🙋🏻

      • Just that if the drawing was bad, you could joke that it was “crude” since it included the vegetables plate, but of COURSE it never is. Have a good day! 🙋🏻‍♂️

        • Ah, ok…now I got you! Yes, Jeff’s drawings are always much more than MEATS the eye! He’s quite the CARROTure! And his EGGScelllant work does far surPASTA a lot of other graphic artists’ …He’s definitely a WEINER in my book! 😂 CHOW, G! 🍪🙋🏻

  8. TO WALT…WHO COMMENTED ON THE POLL:
Hi Walt..I believe you’re speaking of the U-Click version, since every on-line site that I use has the correct number of boxes, and the correct letters needed for the solve. I’m sorry you had a problem, and maybe you should write them, letting them know that they SERVED you up a half-BAKED puzzle! Hope you’re enjoying your day, in spite of it all! Take care! 🙋🏻
