Happy Thursday, Jumble fans! All of today’s clue words were familiar old favorites, butt two of the anagrams were new. Since weave seen both of the 5-letter words before, they were quick to be solved. The 6-letter ones took me quite a bit longer to corral. Of those two, I’ll go out on a lamb and choose SUBMIT as the most difficult anagram of the day. CREPT was our oldest word today while SUBMIT was our most recent.

The setting for today’s cartoon brings us to a rugged mountainside where we encounter four sheep. The main action within the panel is occurring between the two male sheep, otherwise known as rams, in the foreground while the two female sheep look on at the calambity from the rear. The dialogue of the rams informs us that they’ve decided to go head-to-head in a display of shear dominance. The ewes don’t seem particularly impressed by their rambunctious behavior, but have decided to stick around rather than hoofing it out of there.

Since the setting was a mountainside, there wasn’t a whole lot of extra detail to be seen. I’m not sure how Jeff could have added anything else even if he was so inclined. We did get a few tufts of grass, a small rock, and some excellent shading underneath all of the animals. The determination on the rams faces was perfectly captured as were the delicate facial features of the female sheep.

The final solve was an anagram consisting of 12-letters. For the second time this week, part of the answer would contain quotation marks. The layout was extremely cryptic and I thought the best way to tackle it would be by solving the 2-letter word. There were way too many choices though, so I circled back to the cartoon for clues. Noticing that the rams were about to BUTT heads, I found those letters first. OF and COURSE took quite a bit of extra time to decipher from the remaining letters making for a very punny finish. I hope the solution came easier for ewe because it left me with quite a headache! Have a terrific Thursday, and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow!

  1. Good Morning, Everyone…Chuck and Paul…..These words were way too much fun to play around with…πŸπŸ™‹πŸ»

Β° With the professor’s disdain for him already in BLOOM, and not looking to RUFFLE his feathers any further, he quietly CREPT into the classroom to SUBMIT his overdue paper; only to be seen…and met with…”Mr Marino…late again…BUTT OF COURSE”…

Β° When she asked the florist if she could make a change to her bouquet, he said..”BUTT OF COURSE I can SUBMIT a new order to add a RUFFLE or two, but be aware that with this particular BLOOM that you’ve chosen, they’ve CREPT up at the edges at times when bound together, looking too fussy”…

🐏 She loved to see the ivy BLOOM, it CREPT along the walls,
And she was willing to SUBMIT to its’ rises and falls…
But when it formed big RUFFLE-looking clumps near windowsills
She knew the time had come to trim back all the over spills
She called a local nursery and heard from the new boss…
“You got the green, then you’ll be seen..I’ll be there BUTT OF COURSE”…🐏

  2. Good Morning, Mike…Calambity? πŸ˜‚ πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»Kudos! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  3. 🎢 RAM a-Lam (ding dong)…RAM a-Lam (ding ding dong)..Oh, oh, oh, oh…I’ve got a girl named RAMa Lama..Lama Lama Ding Dong…I’ll never let her go…RAMa Lama Lama Lama Ding Dong..I love her, love her so…And she’s mine, all mine…🎢 “Rama Lama Ding Dong” – The Edsels. 1958

WOOL, WOOL, what do we have here? Some MEADOWdrama? We see two RAMS, going HEAD to HEAD…The RAMbunctious one on the left, AL, looks like the type that would bully EWE anytime it beHOOVEd him. Walking around like he’s RAMbo or something…And I’ve HERD that AL PACAS punch…BUTT the one on the right, BAAb, seemingly being HORNed in on, while not going around RAMming his opinion down others throats? Well, he doesn’t exactly appear SHEEPish either. AL does look considerably older, and maybe Baab’s thinking…”Oh, you’re PASTURE prime..”. BUTT EWE wonder if there’s a back story…Where they friends at one time, was there a partnerSHEEP? Did Al GOAT Baab on one time too many? Did he FLEECE Baab out of a business deal?…CUD it get any worse?…Too many bad EWEphemisms? Am I RAMbling about them too much? Ok, let’s take a look at the women…The one speaking, wearing a look of SHEAR disgust…I think they’ve seen HERBIVORE, because she’s like..”MANURE not impressing anyone…” I don’t know… I guess it all comes down to two guys just LOCKING HORNS…and goes to prove that even amongst the animals, rivalry is Alive and WOOL. I only hope that they can work things out, so there won’t be any RAMifications…And it’ll just be a case of All’s WOOL that ends WOOL….And that’s all I GOAT…Have a great day, Everyone! BAA, BAA! πŸπŸπŸ™‹πŸ»
Oh..I saw a tiny bit of eye candy…The RAM on the right? He’s got a little bit of facial hair sprouting…And I immediately thought of…”No, not by the hair on my chinny Chin Chin”. BUTT that’s a RUMINANT from the Three Little Pigs…so I’ll just eschEWE it…πŸπŸπŸ™‹πŸ»

    • We were crossing lines when I finally finished and submitted mine Angela, Loved you sentences. Your song choice brought another smile and your puns were over the top. When you can get groans and laughter out of it,you have done a puntastic job.

      • Yea, that’s me alright…good for a groan!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ What can I say? There’s really MUTTON I can..I’m just a glutton for PUNishment..and I love the SHEEP thrills! πŸ˜‚ BUTT Thank EWE for the Shout Outs, Brooklyn..You’re a LAMB! πŸ˜‰πŸπŸ™‹πŸ»

  4. Good morning. Mike, tish, tish, tish. Did I detect a freudian slip with the remark regarding the female sheep waiting in the back ground. Thank goodness we are not animals.!!We sheepish men wouldn’t be able to share in the female company. I for one submit that submit was not the hardest word. At least not for me. Even though I voted that none were hard,it took me seconds longer to get CREPT. Two days in a row with quotation marks and I sailed right through and got the answers. I almost patted myself on the back BUTT I’m to humble for that. Until tomorrow stay well.

      • Of course Mike and I very seldom say something to be hurtful. I only say things that I perceive as funny. You and Angela never deserve a dig with all the work you both put in.

  5. As he CREPT among the vases in the flower shop, which were mostly all in full BLOOM he was well aware of how he would RUFFLE the feathers of his boss- when he would SUBMIT to him his letter of resignation. NOT one of my better ones, Angela. Hope your day is advancing nicely.

    • Hi Chuck…HAY…Why’re you doubting yourself? BUTT OF COURSE it’s good! πŸ˜‰ It’s a great use of the words..πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» EWE, Sir, are way too hard on yourself. You definitely need to look PASTURE insecurity….we don’t BUTT HEADS on this blog…we champion one another! And I like your use of RUFFLE! πŸ˜‚ It’s a great word, right?… and I was excited to use it as a noun, verb and an adjective! A little Logophile’s Hat Trick! Very rare! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Tks for your well wishes, Chuck…and I hope your day’s going WOOL too! πŸπŸ™‹πŸ»

  6. Good morning. Not to RUFFLE anyone’s feathers,he had to SUBMIT a formal complaint regarding a Mr BLOOM who CREPT into the contest after the dead line.

    • And Brooklyn’s in the House! Good Morning again, and Bravo. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» Well played! BUTT I doubt you’d rat him out…We’re from Brooklyn…we’re no Stoolies! πŸ˜‚ Hope you’re having a good morning, Paul! πŸπŸ™‹πŸ»

      • I don’t know Angela. I especially dislike cheats and liars with a passion. Think I’d enjoy ratting him out. Especially if he thought he got away with it.

        • Hey Brooklyn…Yes I do too. BUTT I guess it depends on the situation…πŸ˜‰πŸ™‹πŸ»

  7. Submit gave me fits, but upon getting that solve along with the others, led to a quick butt of course final solution.

  8. Quite a Drove, Flock, Down, Hurtle, Fold, Pack, and Trip of sheep that Jeff drew there! Actually, more names for the group than the number of sheep pictured!!

    • ….I guess Jeff just GRAZED the surface? πŸ™„ Good Morning, Clay! πŸπŸ™‹πŸ»

  9. Hi all – CREPT and SUBMIT took me about the same amount of extra time, but I’ll also go with SUBMIT as the hardest. I first tried β€˜MIS’ as a prefix which gave MISBUT which seemed funny given the cartoon – maybe when they lunged at each other, they missed!

    Have a great day, everyone!

Nice connection on the song too, Angela – One of those contestants will soon be singing that lyric – πŸŽ΅β€I’ve got a girlfriend, RAM a LAMBa…β€πŸŽ΅ (as I always HERD it) πŸ˜‚ I think I know the backstory also – yesterday’s songs where there were β€œTwo Trains Running”, and the situation finally came to a HEAD.
Loved the AL PACA comment too β€” maybe it’s really been RAM A LLAMA DING DONG all this time?

β€œThe southern CA park ranger heard a RUFFLE among the poppies as the trespasser CREPT up the hill to see the super BLOOM and forced him to SUBMIT to an arrest”. (I think I also heard him say β€œI’m gonna BUSTIM!”)

    • Hey G…Nice sentence.πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» BUTT you know I needed to RAM, I mean push the envelope to go for the pun..πŸ˜‰ The old…🎢LLAMA said there’d be days like this…🎢..Ok, ALPACA my stuff and go! πŸ˜‚ Hope you’re having a good one! πŸπŸ™‹πŸ»

      • I tried really hard to get VICUNA in there, but never succeeded. πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

        • That would really be pushing it…Too WILD…UnHERD of regarding RAMS…πŸ˜‰πŸ™‹πŸ»

  10. Hi Everyone –
I got the words but not the answer this morning, though my husband did think of BUTT. Trying again this afternoon, the rest came to me. I was wondering if the whole answer could have been in quotes, with single quotes around the BUTT. I can’t recall if David ever puts replies, especially by animals, in quotes.
