Jumble Answer for 04/13/2019

PUYPG – GUPPY

GUGOE – GOUGE

STIMIF – MISFIT

GRETTA – TARGET

CARTOON ANSWER: THE RACE CAR DRIVER HAD HIS OWN LINE OF DEODORANT CALLED – – –

PP   O   IS   TT  =  PIT STOP

Good Morning, Everyone!         🏎 DRIVEN TO SUCCESS 🏎

🎶 Love to see a perfect PIT, love to see them tag…love a last lap turn four pass and my guy takes the checkered flag…love it when they’re making lots and lots of noise, Can’t wait to hear d.w. say ” boogity, boogity, boogity, lets go racing boys..Nascar racing boys…🎶 “NASCAR Love- Let’s Go Racing Boys” – Toby Lightman 2008

🏎 For those who know of Race cars, the fit is quite a squeeze,
Not that one’d be a MISFIT, but it’s not exactly ease…
And those of you who know me, you know I love a race,
Well actually my love is Helio Castroneves’ face!
I do love Indy Racing, the 500 every May…
And that seems what we find ourselves relating to today.
It definitely is “TK” who’s the TARGET of our pic,
I wonder if that Pit Crew has a GOUGE within its’ tricks…
I’m going to pass on GUPPY, with car racing it’s a flop,
There’s no place for a tiny fish while making a PIT STOP…🏎

With all our words today being old favorites, we’re also seeing recycled anagrams, with the exception of Guppy. Misfit, last seen on January 4th, finishes in first place as our most recent entry, while Gouge brings up the rear, going back to 2014. And on August 18th, ’18, both Guppy and Gouge appeared in the same puzzle. So, with those little quirks out of the way, and none of our words STOPping any of the Early Birds this morning, let’s DRIVE forward to our cartoon…

While we usually don’t see an Indy 500 related puzzle until late May, today we seem to be off to a RUNNING START. Brought to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the home of the Indy 500, we’re getting a bit of a preview. Along the sidelines, we see Tony Kanaan, “TK”, the Brazilian Racing Driver, taping a commercial for his new line of Deodorant. The Director, being told by his assistant that Tony’s hand is TURNed the wrong way, and hiding the logo, yells “Cut“, and tells Tony to STOP and take a BRAKE. In an effort to add realism to the commercial, we see two members of Tony’s PIT CREW off to the side in the background working on his car. And with Tony saying that he can work up a “SWEAT driving 500 miles“…we can easily see our way to the FINISH LINE…The deodorant is called...PIT STOP. Good one, David! You’re always right ON TRACK!

Ok, eye candy. My eyes were drawn to the Assistant Directors cap. Worn backwards, we can see her hair showing through the opening of the adjustable back, and the two dotted enclosures are visible. Nice detail, Jeff. The red deodorant tube in Tony’s hand is nondescript, but we can see that it’s a roll-on. And the Jumble trademark “J” is patched in a circle on both Tony’s chest and shoulder. But what DROVE it all HOME for me? If you look real closely, on the shoulder, under the J? Jeff’s drawn a tiny “65” commemorating Jumbles’ 65th Anniversary this year! Great TURN, Jeff! It’s a WINNER! So, There you gave it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone!…And I hope you’re all REVVED UP for the weekend! 🏎🙋🏻

  1. Good morning. Shocked to see it posted already. Nice for a change. Now I can get things done. The boys took today off and gave us a Monday Jumble from beginning to end. I didn’t even need a cup of coffee to get me started. I even had time to watch Angela’s song choice which was moving, really really moving. The words were instant reads and the cartoon answer was solved on my second thought. Got to expect tomorrow to be extra hard. Until then take care.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Moving…really, really moving? 😂😂 Literally..or figuratively? Either way, you gave me a laugh…as you always do. Paul…Both Mike and I schedule the words to go up by 2AM. When I do the puzzle on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, most likely the write-up will be done early too. Mike and I live with totally different schedules. I think what you’re referring to is the ability to post a comment early. That’s my choice. Mike rather have the comments wait unti afterl he’s done with his post. 6 of one, 1/2 dz of the other…But you know we’re open 24/7…so whenever you’re ready, we’re always here…As for the puzzle? I totally agree…Definitely a WALK IN THE PARK…instead of a TURN AROUND THE TRACK! …I thought it was cute…Sooooo. The song? Uh…DID you like it or not? 😉🙋🏻

  2. The MISFIT GUPPY was nestled deep in the GOUGE which made him less of a TARGET by the bigger fish.

    • 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Well, excuse me! Was THIS before the coffee too? Bravo, Brooklyn! I’m loving the MISFIT GUPPY! And Guppies are so small to begin with! 😂😂 You definitely make my day, Brooklyn…and the way my morning’s been going? I needed the laugh! 😉🙋🏻

    • Paul…You’ve inspired me! 🐟🐟🙋🏻

° Tired of being the TARGET of their criticism and considered a MISFIT just because she held an affinity for her GUPPY, she wished she could GOUGE out a place to hide in…

🐟 He bought a GOUGE, he bought a wrench, he bought a hammer too…
Intending to repair the tank, he pondered what to do.
It’s not that he’s a MISFIT, he’s repaired things before,
But this time he was worried ’bout the water on the floor…
His mark was off the TARGET…he’s gonna need a mop…
The GUPPY leaped…and now what? He’s making a PIT STOP! 🐟

      • Nice work Angela,I see we also got Jim to join in. It’s interesting seeing the different slants. I did enjoy the music video.

        • Thanks, Brooklyn…And yep, the ENTRIES in this RACE are definitely increasing! I get a kick out of the different slants too. …And I’m glad you enjoyed the music! …Moving as it is! 😉🙋🏻

  3. Good morning – best shot after a long week
Hardly a yuppie, the driver he was
A mere GUPPY in business because
His intent to GOUGE on a MISFIT name
    Brought him much less fame
    And learned to regret
    His brand was off TARGET

    • Good Morning, Jim. I hope you don’t mind, I was DRIVEN to capitalize your key words. 👏🏻👏🏻 Kudos, Sir! You’ve taken a totally different TURN here…and VEERED towards the FISH OUT OF WATER! 😉.Whereas Paul and I went traditional! Nicely done! And nice to have you drop in. How’s the weather there on the Cape? We’re having rain this morning, but it’s warm…and of COURSE damp. Thanks again for your ENTRY, and I hope you have a great day! 🏎🙋🏻

  4. A Monday style puzzle for sure with the anagrams a snap, even gouge, that looked strange at first. With a 3 letter word, 2 p’s and only 2 vowels, and a race themed puzzle, pit stop was also a quick solve. My newspaper was readily available at 5:30 this morning, with our break from twin duty in Dixon, and a stay at home weekend. I’m sure Kate and Jane will be missing us,especially their gramma.
BTW A rain snow mixture is in the forecast for tonight in W Central Illinois.

    • Hey Professor..You deserve a little down time. Relax and enjoy it…Totally agree…This puzzle today is definitely an easy, breezy. And as I mentioned in my post, a bit of a surprise to be seeing the Indy featured so early. I’ve covered the race here the last two years, and I’m hoping we’re still going to have an Indy puzzle come RACE time. As for the weather, I heard it on the news…Strangest patterns, right? Stay dry, Prof! Enjoy your day! 🏎🙋🏻

  5. The pet shop owner picked the MISFIT looking customer as his TARGET to GOUGE when he (customer) asked about the price of the GUPPY.

    • Good Morning, Chuck. The creative juices are definitely flowing this morning! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Excellent! I like your use of GOUGE, similar to Jim’s but you used it financially. I really felt that both MISFIT and GUPPY would hold us back this morning, but we all seem to have merged victorious! 😉 And these definitely weren’t the easiest words to work with either. Well done, Bud! Very nicely done! 👏🏻🙋🏻

  6. Hi all – No trouble with the words, so on with the answer. If the driver were Mario Andretti the product would be “Arrivederci, aroma”. (Rim shot! OLD joke).
I saw that HOT something would fit, but there was no ‘H’. Writing the letters gave the only slightly better TOP SPIT, but then PIT STOP appeared.

Nothing much else to add, so I’ll just wish you all a great Saturday!

    • Arrivederci, Aroma? Yes, VERY old joke! 🙄 Are you TRYING to offend us Italians? 😉 And I don’t for a minute believe that you didn’t get PIT STOP right away. You’re just trying to throw us OFF TRACK! 😉 Oh…I think that’s you posting above. If so, thank you! You KNOW I practiced! 😉 Have a good one, G! 🎈🙋🏻

  7. Well, I may have to find a new source for Jumble again!. Uclick has had the same Robert Frost puzzle 3 days in a row and the Chicago Tribune still has yesterday’s newsroom puzzle.

    • HI Clay. I can’t speak on Uclick, because I don’t have access to it, but I use either the Chicago Tribune or the Orlando Sentinel, and I’m looking at them both now….And they both have todays’ puzzle. I know this my sound pedestrian, but maybe try refreshing the page? 🤔🙋🏻

      • Huh, no, that didn’t work! I ended up going to Shockwave.com games. It looks like Uclick but had today’s puzzle. Thanks for the idea anyway. Hopefully both will be back for me soon.

        • So odd, right? Clay, do you have the links bookmarked, or set up as favorites? If so, why not try deleting them both, and going in again? It might trigger them…🤔🙋🏻
