Happy Wednesday, Jumble warriors! Our midweek puzzle didn’t offer up any new clue words to challenge our brains, but we did end up receiving three new anagrams to work with. COPOH was a doggone good anagram, and our only repeat, but it was its’ 5-letter counterpart that left me we with my tail wagging. FROND just wouldn’t come into view no matter how long I sat there and stared at it. Luckily this young pup knows a few tricks so I scrambled up the letters in the margin of my newspaper until it came into view. WEAKEN also caused a moment of hesitation. It looked like AWAKEN at first but I saw my error before writing the letters in the blocks. TICKET ended up being our oldest clue word of the day with an appearance on 1/11/16 while POOCH led the pack as the most recent with a gameplay date of 6/21/17.

Today’s cartoon featured three Jumble characters in the living room of a home. Mom and dad are both sitting on the couch while their teenage son stands cowering behind them. The dialogue and cartoon sentence informs us that their son is in big trouble for receiving a failing grade on his history test and all he can offer up is a measly “I’m sorry”. Think outside the box, kid! Tell them that it’s not your fault because all of that old stuff happened before you were born. Maybe even say that you actually came out on top of those who failed. That should do the trick!!! All kidding aside, he’s now forced to enter the realm of adult responsibility and will have to suffer the consequences of performing poorly. The video games will be easy to part with but the no cell phone borders on cruel and unusual punishment!

The only extra details in today’s panel that I could spot were located on the exam. There were eight questions in the form of squiggly lines on the left side of the paper with answer choices of A B C & D on the right. The young buck circled A on every one and ended up getting two correct. The odds were surely against him with that big F circled in the bottom right-hand corner. There’s so much red ink on the paper that mom and dad can save and reuse it as a Christmas card!

The final solve was an angram consisting of 6-letters. The answer blocks indicate that one word is two letters in length and the other would be four. ON, OK, and NO all seemed like good candidates, but I happened to read the anagram backwards and spotted KNO stacked together. This brought KNOW to mind leaving NO for the finish.

Did you pass your Jumble test this morning? Be sure to let us know in the comments section down below and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow.

  1. The TICKET to getting the POOCH to WEAKEN his grip on the FROND was to throw a bucket of cold water on him. Best I could come up with, Angela. Have a good one!!

    • Good Morning…Our ships passed in the morning!
Yea…That’s the TICKET! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Great play! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» Kudos, Chuck! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  2. Good Morning, Everyone!
Chuck: I went with both uses of POOCH..I realty enjoy the double meanings…Have a great day! πŸ” πŸ™‹πŸ»

Β° Standing at the concession stand, dressed in FROND-printed workout gear, she held the free Snack TICKET in hand and realized that the lack of exercise that caused her stomach muscles to WEAKEN and resulted in this POOCH was aided along by too many of these NO KNOW snacks….

Β° For failing to curb his new POOCH, the cop gave him a TICKET,
And now a leash with FROND-like folds kept the dog ‘hind the wicket…
He hated to confine the pup and WEAKEN his resolve,
But money for these tickets…something he could not dissolve.
Some discipline was needed, before this pup would grow,
The learning of the yeses and the definite NO KNOW…

  3. Good morning. My demeanor became WEAKENed because my POOCH ate the FROND at the floral show which caused me to get a TICKET.

    • LOL! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» This was in Brooklyn? They had FRONDS? They had an actual FLOWER SHOW?!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Nice one, Paul! You done good! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • Of course every year at Easter time at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. “Dogs not invited”

        • LOL! Oh right…I forgot about that! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Just joking….I love the Flower Show. I love the Botanical Gardens…And you know I love Brooklyn..β€οΈπŸ™‹πŸ»

  4. Good morning. My demeanor was compromised because for over two hours I have been trying to open today’s jumble to post. The words were easy for me except for FROND which had me scrambling the letters and twice I came up with the correct spelling but didn’t recognize the word. Upon checking,I still had to check its meaning. I love the fact that you really are never too old to learn something new. The cartoon answer was simple once I looked at the letters. I knew enough to know that by not knowing this answer would really bring down my demeanor. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Paul….You knew what Fronds were, but probably didn’t hook it up to the word. Fronds are Palms. What we get on Palm Sunday. Just a fancier way of saying it….And don’t let a little thing like a puzzle affect your demeanor…You’re way too sweet for that! 😘 Have a good one, Brooklyn! πŸŒ΄πŸ™‹πŸ»

  5. Hi all – I FRONDly remember seeing that word and WEAKEN fairly recently (possibly in the Just Jumble app), so didn’t have a problem with the words.
The cartoon caption shows that the answer can’t start with a vowel, and that gave the answer away.

I guess the old saying is true – the kid didn’t remember the answers to the history test, so now he’s condemned to repeat it.

Of course this website’s not cheating; that’s what FRONDS are for.
I hadn’t noticed that he just circled all the β€˜A’ answers. I guess that’s a good strategy if you have no idea.
Funny coincidence that I was adding stuff to my calendar just yesterday and stumbled on the fact that Palm (Frond) Sunday and Easter are coming up.

I’m off to do more errands in the rain. Have a great day, everyone!

  6. Weaken has tripped me up in the past but I got it today – small victories. I too am familiar with fronds because of Palm Sunday. The answer came easily so all in all I’m off to a good start this Wednesday. Happy day to all.
