Happy Thursday, Jumble geniuses! We had a super easy puzzle this morning that surely didn’t take any rocket science to figure out. All of our clue words were old friends and three of the four anagrams were new. PUNTI was the only one that’s been used before and it was as easily solved today as it was last June. TEACUP ended up being the only part of the entire puzzle to slow me down so it’s my choice for the most difficult anagram of the day. POMPOM was our oldest word and was last used on 3/9/15 while SENSE was our most recent with a gameplay date of 9/20/18.
Our cartoon gives us a small glimpse inside the “Eagle” which was the name assigned to the Apollo Lunar Module that was, and still is, the only crewed vehicle to land anywhere beyond earth. Inside the vehicle we see two astronauts that would change the course of human space exploration forever. Their names, of course, are Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, with the cartoon dialogue indicating that Neil is the astronaut on the left.
The panel gave me the feeling that Neil was a bit nervous about leaving the safety of the module and wanted to review the plans one final time. Buzz is especially enthusiastic about getting the mission started and his dialogue goads Neil on by assuring him that “we’re all good”. In case you were wondering why Neil was chosen to be the first person to walk on the moon, the answer isn’t quite as surprising as you might think. NASA explains it was the simple fact that Neil’s positition within the Eagle lunar module was closest to the exit hatch so he was to be the first one out.
Since the cartoon panel shows us an extreme closeup inside the lunar module, there weren’t many extra details to be seen. I thoroughly enjoyed the view from the window which shows the moons cratered surface. Both of the astronauts had their helmets on their laps and we can see a small American flag patch on the left side of their suits.
The final solve was an anagram consisting of only 8-letters. IT was already spelled out for us at the beginning of the anagram which left STEP and ON clearly visible in the remaining letters. Since today’s puzzle was a cakewalk, I have a sneaking suspicion that David and Jeff have a difficult one in store for us tomorrow. Have a terrific Thursday everyone, and get out there and rocket!!!

Spring has sprung, our first full day…too bad there’ll be a storm…
Today the Jumble’s offering something out of the norm!
Today, I think we may be seeing a first in Jumble History. Twice within three days, we’re seeing the exact same answer to two different puzzles. On Monday, our answer, “To The Fullest” was a repeat from 05/30/14. And today, our answer, “STEP ON IT”, is also an exact repeat, this time from 09/27/16. On that day, Godzilla was featured, doing what he does best, and our Cartoon Question and Answer were: To destroy the town and get home for dinner, Godzilla had to – – –”Step On It”. I’m sure over the years, with all the clever puzzles David’s given us, that it’s inevitable that an answer would fit more than one scenario, but I doubt very much that it’s happened within such close proximity. And with today’s puzzle dealing with the Moon Landing, it also brings us back to the puzzle we had last year, on 09/07. That day, we found ourselves in a typical American living room, joining a family of four (which very well may have been Jeff’s, but he never verified that for us), as they watched the landing unfold. That day we were challenged with, “Everyone who saw the Moon Landing on TV thought is was…” and we answered with, ” Out Of This World”…Which in a way fits our little Jumble Quirk today…. Is it a first? Has Jumble History been made? Is it a little ironic that we hear Buzz telling Neil that it’s…”Time to make History”? Yes, Jumble Fans, I think it is! I really doubt there’s been a CRATER Jumble coincidence before…

Good morning. At first I drew a blank at all the words so I put up the coffee. When I returned I got the six letter words right away followed by input. It didn’t make sense that SENSE took a full minute longer to get than my quick reads. After writing down the letters the cartoon was an instant solve. Until tomorrow stay well.

Have the Russians been meddling with Jumble? The first word anagrams to PUTIN. It also anagrams to UNTIP, which is what I would do if Russia were a restaurant run by Putin and I was eating there. Namely, untip; i.e., don’t tip anything. I also note that if the first word were UNTIP, then the solution would be STEP UPON, which is incomplete. Step upon what? But the Jumble’s intended answer has the same problem. STEP ON IT. Step on what? The Moon, of course. I’d say this was a loony Jumble.
Apollo 11 was not the ONLY crew to be able to land on the moon there were six successful moon landing missions Apollo 12, 14 15, 16 and 17 all successfully landed on the moon as well.
In all, 12 human beings walked on the moon surface.
Exactly right, but what he said was “the Apollo Lunar Module was, and still is, the only crewed vehicle to land anywhere beyond earth.” That is also a correct statement, not implying that Apollo 11 was the only time a crew had landed beyond Earth.

Easy one today for the most part but I too paused at teacup even though I know it’s been around before. So far it’s been an easy week but then again that could all change tomorrow. Have a good Thursday everyone.
Hi all – I was expecting UP to start both the words that contained it; nice that it wasn’t that easy. TEACUP also took me the longest, and the answer was obvious.
So Neil was rushed, eh? Maybe that’s why he flubbed the line and didn’t say “One small step for A man”. It was way too early for autocorrect, but I have no problem blaming it on radio static. I hope and suspect that we’ll see a similar Jumble on the actual moon landing date.

Hey Steve…I thought the same thing. We’re just three months away from the 50th Anniversary, which is a milestone, so I wondered too why they didn’t save this cartoon for then. But with the puzzles being submitted at least 6 weeks in advance, it could be feasible that again, as I mentioned in my verse, since we all knew that last night’s Full Moon was going to be a Supermoon, maybe that’s why they just chose to do it today. I read that Neil had written out what he was going to say when he stepped foot on the moon and he only showed his brother to get his opinion. Nobody else, not even NASA knew! That’s definitely not what would happen nowadays… Hope all is well, Steve! 🙂🚀

I was a kid, and I still remember it. The hot summer night, all of us crowded around the TV, the anticipation mingled with fear and wonder…it was like one collective rapid heartbeat. That’s what I remember most. That and the men cheering, raising their glasses, and the women all crying. It was one hell of a night. And you Sir, watched it at your Aunt’s house because she had the biggest TV screen. 😉 No…I didn’t remember THAT. I saw it when I looked back. I did watch the moon landing from Helsinki. I had a little nit with today’s puzzle having Buzz telling Neil to get out there as soon as they touched down, cuz I remember it didn’t happen like that, When they touched down, it was announced that the plan was for the astronauts to take a nap for several hours before venturing out. In Helsinki it was 10 or 11 pm, because of the time difference, and as soon as that announcement was made, everybody at the viewing party reacted in disbelief and headed for the bars or to bed. 😢 I do recognize that David and Jeff do have the right to take a liberty with history for the sake of a good joke. 😒
Hi, Mike..Yes, I know you did! As I said, I remembered that, because I found it so fascinating. As for Neil’s hesitation, it’s just a little tongue in cheek humor on the Guys part I’m sure. You know, to get the pun. I know I’m guilty of it…many a time over. I have no shame when it comes to puns! 😂😂 You know, I think a lot of us tend to forget that these are just cartoons…and this is just a game…I laugh at myself sometimes, when I get so wrapped up in the cartoon. You don’t want to know half the things my friends say to me about my passion…😂😂 But I just do my duck routine..and let it roll right off my back! 😂 (And then I hear that I’m a quack)! 😂 Anyway, far as I’m concerned, I go by the Golden Rule…”Every knock’s a boost”.
