CARTOON ANSWER: THE NEW CLOCK THEY ORDERED WOULD BE DELIVERED AND INSTALLED – – –

MIE  SCT   WEO   HMNE = WHEN (The) TIME COMES

Good Morning, Everyone!      ⏱ TIME…WAITS FOR WOE MAN?

🎶 Does anybody really know what TIME it is (I don’t)…Does anybody really care (care about TIME)..If so I can’t imagine why (no, no)…We’ve all got TIME enough to cry…🎶 “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is” – Chicago 1969 http://tinyurl.com/y3jxmyme

⏱ Not to MINCE words, but maybe what they needed was to be
A little more firm with the SCOUT from the clock company…
While working with a deadline, it just would seem HUMANE,
To have an idea when they’d need more workman and a crane.
Delays are like a WEAPON when there’s payrolls to be met,
And anything that’s not nailed down can only cause regret…
I guess they’ll have to wait it out, to pressure they’ll succumb
The best laid plans of mice and men?…Simply WHEN THE TIME COMES ⏱

The Ides of March...Supposedly the day to settle all debts. To us here in Jumble-Land? A day to close out our WORK week with a …“WOP WOP“? Yep, WEAPON! Cut like a knife! Seen only once before, way back in 2015, making it our oldest rerun, it definitely took its toll! With all four of our Friday words being Sweet Repeats, and all of our anagrams being new, it was Weapon and SCOUT, our most recent entry from June 11th, ’18, that caused the Early Birds a slight bit of a pause. But since TIME waits for no man…Let’s get on to our cartoon…

Today we find ourselves outdoors, at a construction site. A CLOCK Tower is either going up, or shoring up, and we see a man and a woman discussing the arrival and installation of the Tower’s new CLOCK. Obviously on a schedule, and counting every MINUTE, their conversation, and the rather worried looks upon their faces, leads us to believe that they may be SECOND-guessing themselves. Is the Clock company reliable? Will their deadline be met? Does TIME wait for this man..and WOEman? I guess we’ll know…WHEN THE TIME COMES! Ha! Now how’s that for a reason to COUNT our blessings? Good one, David! Once again you’ve made the WAIT worthwhile!

Ok, eye candy. Our man of the HOUR, is dressed very nattily in a purple suit jacket, black pants, a white dress shirt and a pink tie..Hmm. Ok, maybe not so nattily…We see him holding blueprints in his hand, showing the Tower built to scale. There’s the MINUTE figure of a man standing alongside the Tower…Nice detail, Jeff. Our woman, well..she looks very well PUT TOGETHER. Clad in a fitted black blazer, worn over a gray top and gray slacks, she’s sporting a single chain of jewelry at her neck. And we woman know how you’ll never SECOND-guess yourself with the classic understatement of a single piece of TIMELESS jewelry.
But of course it’s the Brown Tower itself that STANDS to be the highlight of our cartoon. Set upon a gray marble slab, it’s surrounded by lush landscaping. There’s scaffolding surrounding it, and the space for the missing Clock is hard to aVOID! But if you look closely, you’ll see that there’s three Construction Workers standing working on the Tower, at the SECOND, third and top level. They each have trowels in their hands, but the one at far left can be seen holding a HAWK! Now that flies! http://tinyurl.com/y585zfty
And how’s that for a piece of eye candy? I tell you, Folks, you HANG out here long enough, you learn something each and every TIME! So, There you have it, Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone….And it’s TIME for me to throw in the TROWEL! ⏱🙋🏻

  1. Good morning. Noticed I’m first in line. No problem with the words but my choice for hardest would be Weapon which took thirty seconds longer than Humane to get. The cartoon answer took about ten minutes for it to finally come into my head. Angela, read your last comment and don’t worry you didn’t bring me down. I find that the older I get the more sentimental I become and now can shed tears at the drop of a hat. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Yep, you’re the Early Bird today… And Weapon, IMO, was masterfully anagrammed. As for last night? Paul, you’re so not alone. As TIME goes by, we all see things differently…and sentimentality just comes with the territory. You think you can shed tears at the drop of a hat? HA! Try being a woman! 😉 Anyway, nothing wrong with a tear or two…Just reminds us that we’re human. Have a great day, Brooklyn! ⏱🙋🏻

      • Nice work Angela. You got a big smile out of me twice with your perfect song choice and added comment. Thanks for all those hidden treasures I’m not seeing, even with a magnifying glass. All I see is the guy at the top. Take care.

        • Brooklyn…Any day I can make you smile is Aces to me! Thank you…you’re a Gem! ♦️ As for the details? You’re gonna have to give in and look on line, Bud….there’s no other way. I swear, as stubborn as you are…you’d think you were Italian! 😂🙋🏻

  2. Angela:
I really appreciate the song by Chicago. Chicago is a great group, and Robert Lamm is a great songwriter and singer.
I didn’t have much trouble with the puzzle. I thought TIME would be in the answer from the beginning, and then I got enough of the CW’s to see WHEN, and the rest fell in.

    • Good Morning, Mike. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I was always a fan of them too. Yes, TIME was a shoe-in, and the rest wasn’t much of a stretch. Cute puzzle. You know at first I was thinking Big Ben, with the construction going on there and the fact that Jeff had us in London y’day. But there was no spire at top, so I squashed the idea and moved on…You know what they say…TIME waits for no woman! 😉 Have a good one, Mike! ⏱🙋🏻

  3. Without taking time to MINCE words, the boy SCOUT leader said the HUMANE thing to do was not to use a WEAPON on the snake, but to just walk away.

    • Good Morning,,Chuck. I’m talking with a friend, and completely lost track of the TIME, and forgot all about this…👏🏻👏🏻 Well done! Good one. Very nice angle with the snake…Ok, I’ll throw this out there, and whip up a quick poem for you…in no,TIME, I hope! 🙄🙋🏻

° While acting as a SCOUT for the Mets, he decided to not MINCE words, and used the phrase “(in) HUMANE treatment” to describe how once again this Season, the bats weren’t acting anything like a WEAPON!

    • Ok, Chuck. Quick one…But I forgot to include the answer words in it…Rats! I’ll be back! 🙄🙋🏻

The SCOUT troop needed badges, use of WEAPON was up next
The boys not feeling comfortable, a few looked quite perplexed..
They felt it wasn’t HUMANE to have something that killed,
But how else would they earn the badge? The leader wasn’t thrilled…
He looked at them and said real loud..not looking to MINCE words..
“Get tough and get this done boys…this waiting’s for the birds”!

    • Ok. Had to hang up on my friend….needed to concentrate! 😂 Got the words in…Here you go…🙋🏻

° Training the new chef, for WHEN THE TIME COMES that he retires, he took his sharpest knife, and told the lad to wield it as a WEAPON and begin to MINCE the garlic…but the boy slit his finger and it was only HUMANE to drop everything, SCOUT around for the nearest cab, and get him to the hospital…

° She walked into the party, the men all turned to greet…
The looks of them just made her grin…she knew they’d be MINCE meat…
Her beauty like a WEAPON, she knew that she was fine…
And it would hardly be HUMANE what she had on her mind.
She did a quick SCOUT ’round the room, she heard the battle drums…
She set her sights…for now it was surely WHEN THE TIME COMES

  4. It was the two 5-letter words that gave me trouble today. Had to back into both.
I always enjoy reading the funny and clever sentences that posters come up with!

    • Hi Caroline. I thought of you yday, we were listening to Prine’s latest album…I know from now on whenever I think of him, I’ll think of you…(and a certain “special” friend, who if he’s reading this, will surely get jealous if I don’t say I think of him too)! 😂 As I mentioned, COACH had a few of my friends doing DOUBLE and TRIPLE takes this morning…And, no pun intended, but 3 of them COACH Little League! 😉 I swear, you can’t make this stuff up! And then they wonder why I drink! 😂😂😂 Glad you enjoy the literary offerings. It’s a fun exercise! Wishing you a great day, Caroline! Let’s enjoy the warmer weather! ⏱🙋🏻

      • Hi Angela,
And Prine makes me think of you two. (Other things do, too, and not just Peet’s.) I also thought of Lelia today because I saw my first robin of the season, which she used to tell Mike to look for.
That’s really funny about your friends who are coaches having a problem with the word.

        • Hi Caroline…It’s funny right? How we now think of certain things and relate them to one another. Like Poutine (drool) and Broadway shows make me think of you, and how I can’t go into a Farmer’s Market anymore wiithout you crossing my mind. And how pigs and nurses make me think of Betty…etc, etc. I guess it’s only natural, I mean we all do “speak” to one another every day. I have cousins I don’t communicate with half as much! 😂😂 And I think of Lelia too, and Earl…Robins…you know here on Staten Island, a lot of them never leave. The block where I live, and the surrounding area used to be a Bird Sanctuary..you wouldn’t believe what I see around here..(and in my awnings)! My friends, the Coaches? Caroline, I swear, sometimes I listen to them speaking, and I really question my standards! 😂😂 Too funny! ..And I have to tell you, I’m so psyched for you seeing Prine. If he’s half as good as he was last year? You’re in for a thrill…👏🏻🙋🏻

        • Maybe I should elaborate a little on the pig reference to Betty. Her sister collects all kinds of pig-related items. So now whenever I see a little ceramic, or some of the kids toys, Betty and her sister come to mind…So I hope my comment’s BACON more sense now…😉🐷🙋🏻

      • And I think of you in association with Brooklyn (along with Paul), Italy, puns, poetry, Frank Sinatra and many other good things!

        • Thank you, Caroline. I’m honored to be amongst such illustrious company! ❤️🙋🏻

  5. Your imagination never ceases to amaze me, Angela! The Ides of March are upon us. Did you find anything about Arbuckle and Hope? Have a relaxing weekend..

    • My imagination never ceases to SCARE most of the people around me! LOL! Bob Hope…No, not yet. But I have a TO DO list, and it’s right near the top…The Ides of March? How was Rome split in two? With a pair of Caesars? No, I don’t sweat the Ides of March…It’s the Ides of April 💸💸 that get me! …😉😉 Have a good one, Chuck! ⏱🙋🏻

  7. Hi all – Each of the words took an extra look or two today. HUMANE took me the longest, but once I saw A HUMEN it became clear. I expected the answer to be “When the time came”, but writing the letters showed what they wanted.

The real reason for the delay was that the company sent their workman to the secondhand store to buy one for the clock, and he hadn’t returned yet.

I guess Chicago got tired of people responding to “Does anybody really know what time it is” and decided to answer it on the next album with “25 or 6 to 4”.

    🎵”Hours are like diamonds
Don’t let them waste”🎵 (“Time waits for no one”, the Stones)

    Have a great day, everyone!

I had never heard the term “plasterers hawk” Angela. Thanks for a new word!
Also thanks for the Just Jumble App info. The update showed up before I went to bed last night, so I made sure to answer one puzzle and get a one day headstart on the consecutive day streak. Still wondering why they don’t pick round numbers – now it’s “1,668 Punny Puzzles”.

    • The SECONDhand store? Did you not read the cartoon? David said It was a NEW Clock, G! Sorry..but I can’t give you the TIME of day on that one! 😉 ( but it is good)! The HAWK. You’re welcome. Yep, once again I thank my Father for my love of Music, the ability to swing a bat…and for knowing how to hold my plaster!!! 😂😂 And you made me go look…Sure enough my update was there also…Consecutive though? Did you still have some puzzles left from the last update? I finished them on both iPads. Like going through withdrawal! And it’s not the end total that seems odd to me…The numbers? 71-73-88-76-?… Seems so random. Makes me wonder if there’s a method to their madness! 🤔 Here’s to a good one🍻, Steve! And take your TIME with these NEW puzzles! 😉🙋🏻

  8. Being on the road,I just got to the puzzle, and had no problems, not even with weapon. The solution was close to As Time Goes By.We’re off to visiting and seeing all 8 of our grandkids scattered from Utica to Dixon to Naperville th is weekend through Monday!

    • 🎶As Time Goes By🎶…Now that’s a beautiful song! Kudos to you, Prof, for the easy solve. Enjoy the weekend, enjoy your family…It sounds great! 🙋🏻

  9. None of the words for the answer are supposed to appear in the caption, nor in the cartoon voices. Yet the word “when” appears in both the answer and the woman’s words. I think the woman was supposed to say ” the day it was finished ” instead of ” when it was finished” but that may have been erroneously edited for space.

    • Hi Mark. Good eye, I didn’t even notice. And I could be wrong, but I think the hard and true rule applies more to a word that’s a direct reference to the pun in the answer, like “time”, or like in y’days puzzle, where you’ll notice how the word “round” was avoided. They used spherical, because I think saying round could automatically give us “flat”. And your reasoning regarding space could be correct too, but I’m pretty sure that any editing is done with David’s sanction. But also consider this. Having the woman say that they’d be notified “the day it was finished” puts them in a bit of a bind, IMHO. They’d need to have the proper manpower on hand, a crane on premises, etc. I think a few days heads up would be more appropriate. But then again, it’s just my opinion. Maybe David might see this though, and shed some light…You never know. Thanks for your thoughts, Mark, you may have opened up a can of worms! 😉 And please consider commenting again. We appreciate the exchange of ideas. Wishing you a good night! 🤔🙋🏻
