CARTOON ANSWER :  THE DISTANCE BETWEEN NYC AND L.A. IN A PASSENGER JET IS 2,500 MILES – – –

WS   FT  RCH   EEI   EA   LS   =  AS THE “CREW” FLIES

Good Morning, Everyone!          ✈️  LORDS (AND LADIES) OF THE FLIES ✈️

🎶 Come FLY with me, let’s FLY,  let’s FLY away…If you can use some exotic booze, There’s a bar in far Bombay…Come FLY with me, let’s FLY, let’s FLY away…🎶  “Come Fly With Me” – Frank Sinatra  1958    http://tinyurl.com/y4cfrhjj

✈️ I think the days of Friendly Skies have somehow gone the way,
Of being comfortable and having baggage not for pay…
The times they are so different, CLASSY is not the norm,
We get packed in so WEASEL-like, a lot just can’t conform…
There’s those who FLAUNT an attitude, think they’re above the bunch,
And act as if it’s only them that feel the airline’s CRUNCH
The flight Crew has to deal with any MENACE on the flight,
The days of Coffee, tea or me…gone into that good night.
So when you close your EYELIDs hoping there’ll be no surprise,
Think kindly of them keeping peace up there AS THE “CREW” FLIES ✈️

See you in a little while…✈️🙋🏻…..OK, I’M BACK….

Of our 6 words today, CLASSY is appearing for the first time, well the first time since 2014 anyway. MENACE goes way back to 2015, EYELID to 2017 and CRUNCH was last seen in August of 2018. But with what may be a Jumble first, both WEASEL and FLAUNT are both our newest words, since they both last appeared together only 3 weeks ago, on February 20th. And this morning, it was only CRUNCH that caused a pause…

ABOARD a plane today, FLYING between NYC and L.A., we see 3 passengers and 3 Flight Attendants. And as Jumble FREQUENT FLYERS, many of you may recall that we were also aboard a plane quite recently, on February 16th, where we dealt with “CABIN PRESSURE”. There’s a lot of dialogue, and listening in, we hAIR that it all applies to the CREW’s FLIGHT of fancy…But for a CHANGE of pace today, I was a little UP IN THE AIR with the answer to our puzzle, and couldn’t just WING it. My initial thought of “ON THE...” caused a DELAY in solving once I glanced over to our words and saw that there wasn’t an “O”. So, I gathered my letters, and immediately picked out FLIES, and of COURSE “THE” for our 3-letter word. “CREW” then FLEW off the page, and immediately brought the solve into VIEW. AS THE “CREW” FLIES! And I had to laugh out loud at this ACE. AS THE CROW FLIES’,   https://tinyurl.com/y2ftmtfy   a pretty common idiom, is expertly put into play here…David, you’ve SOARED ABOVE the rest once again.

Ok, FLY candy. Of the 2 male passengers, one wears a burgundy sweater, and is asleep. The other, bespectacled and dressed in green, sits to the right of the PLANE, and is shown with his eyes looking down, intently focused on something…The sole female passenger, in purple, and nestled into a black neck pillow, is being served a drink with ice cubes visible, (great detail, Jeff), and is asking her male attendant about AIR sickness, and he tells her that he’s “used to it”…The uniform du jour is black pants, long-sleeved dress shirts of medium blue, burgundy vests and gold ties. The service trolley, gray in color, holds a tray of beverage cans and juice boxes, cups, stirrers, and a carafe of hot coffee, lines of steam emanating from the opening, and in the hand of the female attendant. It has 4 drawers, and two bottom bins. But the detail most DEAR? The male attendant at front, who’s sporting a stud in his left ear,  is holding 3 small yellow boxes, SNACK PACK written on each with a fancy cursive flAIR. And marked at the left hand corner, it reads: $20. $20! As I said...most $$$ DEAR! So, DEAR you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone!…And BUCKLE UP…Most of us across the country are in for some TURBULENT weather! ✈️🙋🏻

  1. Morning, Angela and everyone –
MENACE was the hardest clue word for me today. And FLIES was the first answer word I spotted, with CREW being the last. I never knew the meaning of the expression until I looked it up just now. Wishing all a great day.

    • Good Morning, Caroline! I just put up the rest of the post. We were out until 3 this morning, so I fell asleep at 4 and didn’t get up until 8! Funny you mention the idiom, I included a link without even reading your comment! And I saw FLIES first also. This was a real good one today! I applaud both David and Jeff on this one! It’s an excellent puzzle! Wishing you a great day too! ✈️🙋🏻

  2. Hi, I used to get your email daily, but now it’s hit and miss. Do you know why?

    • Hi Lori. I wish I could give you a definitive answer, but I’m unsure myself. A few of us are experiencing the same thing, and your use of hit and miss just about says it all. I can suggest you try re-registrating, that’s what I did and it worked for me. Although in all honesty, it didn’t work for some others. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help. Perhaps someone out there who’s had the same problem can shed some light. Thanks for hanging in there with us, and I hope you have a great day! .🙋🏻

  3. Hi all – Now this was an unusual experience for me – an easy Sunday Jumble.
If it’s not SEESAW it must be WEASEL; if it’s not YIELD it must be EYELID. I tried LY at the end of the last word, but when that didn’t work I just left the Y at the end and saw CLASSY. The layout of the answer showed “As the crow flies”, so I only had to look at the cartoon to see what different word the quotation marks indicated.

    Have a great day, everyone!

Thanks for all the details Angela, especially the $20 snack packs! I haven’t flown in a long time, but from what I read it wouldn’t surprise me. You inspired me to look at the picture online, and I noticed that the “S” in “Snack Pack” is formed by a flying plane and its vapor trail; another nice touch.

“The Tech-Bro thought it was CLASSY to FLAUNT the Google-glass camera above his EYELID at the bar, but the biker thought being photographed was a MENACE and loosed his pet WEASEL to CRUNCH it.”

    • Hi Steve… Good eye on the “S”!👏🏻👏🏻 Nice! I looked at it twice and it didn’t register. (What where we saying about doing things TOO early)! 😂😂 A very cute touch, indeed. And your sentence? Imagination run amok!👏🏻 I’m up to my elbows in chop meat, but as soon as I get these meatballs going, I intend to give it a try…Here’s 🍻 to a good one, G! ✈️🙋🏻

  4. When CRUNCH time came, the WEASEL down the street with the puffy EYELID, decided not to FLAUNT his CLASSY new roadster since some people might consider him to be a MENACE to society with his past record of reckless driving.

    • Hey Chuck..Good Afternoon..You nosed me out! I was doing the lasagna detail! 👏🏻👏🏻Kudos! Great meld! You’re definitely taking these to all new HEIGHTS! ..And as you can see, I chose to favor the WEASEL…Something about those bad boys just gets me every time!! 😂😂 Do the Times Puzzle yet? ✈️🙋🏻

  5. Chuck and Steve: Here’s my FLIGHT OF FANCY….

° Being known as a WEASEL ever since he chose to FLAUNT his droopy EYELID by having one tattooed on his bicep, they called him an untrustworthy MENACE and wouldn’t let him CRUNCH the numbers for the CLASSY affair they were planning..

° She liked to date the WEASEL, as he became known by,
She liked to watch him working out, a CRUNCH, a bend, a sigh…
To her he wasn’t grungy, nor would CLASSY fit the bill…
But definitely not the MENACE that they tried to her instill…
She’d FLAUNT him while out walking, she loved him by her side…
And when he’d wink that left EYELID, she’d get all warm inside…
So let them say whatever, to her it was all lies…
They’re all the same, and she dubbed them simply AS THE CREW FLIES

    • 🎵”Just because he doesn’t do what everybody else does
That’s no reason why I can’t give him all my love
He is always good to me; always treats me tenderly
‘Cause he’s not a rebel, oh, no, no
He’s not a rebel, oh, no, no, to me”🎵
(I always heard that as “He’s my rebel and old enough to be.”)

      • LOL! You do realize that a link would suffice, no? In fact, there’s this website, Tiny URL….😂😂🙋🏻

  6. Easy puzzle for a Sunday. I paused briefly at eyelid – another one of my favorite words that I never seem to remember at first glance – but figured out the other words and cartoon answer without problem. I’m ready for spring but we’re in for more rain this week. Hope all of you have a good day.

    • Good Morning, Betty. EYELID had you BLINKING again, huh? What is it with some of these words that just elude us every time? The Defeat Repeats…We’ve all got at least one! Spring…what a sweet memory! Who’s got rain, who’s got snow…that’s what we get for trusting those damn Groundhogs…the sneaky little WEASELS! 😉 Hope you’re having a good one too, Betty! 🐭🙋🏻

  7. FYI:To those of you out there thinking that the male attendant at front too closely resembles David…I’m going on record to say that it’s a BALD-faced lie! David doesn’t have his ears pierced! 😉🙋🏻

  8. Eyelid always makes me think of yield first, then trying to make it a __ly word. But the final solution was a given.

    • Hey, Prof. a few people saw Yield also…Hope you’re having a great day! ✈️🙋🏻

  9. Good afternoon. Another fun jumble. Menace was the last word I got which is my choice for the hardest word. When it came time to the cartoon,I saw As the crow flies right away but when checking the letters there was no O. After crossing off the letters crew remained. Another cute finish by the boys. Nice work Angela, old blue eyes came through for you again today. Can never go wrong with him. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Hey Brooklyn. Totally agree, toyally cute puzzle. Tks for the Shout Out. Hope you’re having a good one! 🎶🙋🏻
