CARTOON ANSWER:   BETWEEN THE BALTIC AND THE MEDITERRANEAN, THEY VISITED SITES – – –

FEE   OES   SOR   MET   =   FROM “SEE” TO “SEE

Good Morning, Everyone!      🚌 “SEA-SAW”….THEY TOOK A TOUR 🚌

🎶 Deep in the night I climb the stairway to the SEA…And pretend you are there beside me. So close beside me, watching the SEA, I see us there upon the stairway to the SEA…Where the mist softly kissed two lovers…hiding from others our love by the SEA…🎶. “Stairway to the Sea” –  Johnny Mathis  1958  https://tinyurl.com/y5p55q3s

🚌 While on a trip to Europe, these people that we see…
Boarded a bus and took a tour from sea to shining sea.
With many miles between them, these Seas of shining blue
Can cause a FEVER in your soul…the beauty there for you…
You stop along the beaches, you eat ’till your OBESE,
You may see a young SAILOR on a weekend’s pass release…
You make a special MOMENT and there’s pictures you will take,
Form memories to stay with you…the feelings from its wake.
A wondrous tour, you’ll ne’er forget, part of natures’ beauty,
They visited and so enjoyed the tour FROM “SEE” to “SEE“🚌

Today’s words offer up bit of a twist. MOMENT which seems to be such a common word was seen only once before in July of last year. SAILOR, making its’ 6th appearance was just seen three weeks ago, on February 7th, as SIRALO. FEVER was used in 2014, 16, and 18, and OBESE appears to be here for the first time. Quite a mix, wouldn’t you say? And the only one to cause a slight WAVE this morning was SAILOR…It had a few of the Early Birds giving it a second look…

Our cartoon today brings us to the Mediterranean. We see a tour bus, stopping along a tour route to take pictures at a scenic beachfront strip. I’m not familiar with the area at all, but there’s a chance we may be in Latvia, in the city of Jūrmala, https://tinyurl.com/y5cyebnv a spa resort. Again, there’s just a chance. Nat Geo I’m not…There’s a man climbing from the bus, seen speaking with a woman. We see another man, with two women, looking out over the barrier taking pictures. And here, in the dialogue, Jeff’s given us 2 huge hints towards our puzzles’ solution. SEA the woman at left saying..”We SAW so many things ALONG the way”, while the man is saying..”Will you LOOK…”? So much dialogue about what they SEE! And notice how David purposely avoided mentioning the word SEA in the question?  So, the answer to our puzzle? They visited sites FROM “SEE” to “SEE”! Good one, David! I’m SWEPT AWAY!

Ok, eye candy…The panel is shaded in beige, and the only color is the blue of the SEA and the clothing of the three characters at front. Off in the background, mountains are visible. These mountains may dispute my guess of us being in Jūrmala…but again, let’s keep in mind that this isn’t a Geography exam…The woman at front, at left, with two ear piercings holding hoops, is wearing a dark peach top, khaki shorts, a yellow straw hat with a black band, and sports what’s CURRENTly back in style again, a blue Fanny Pack. Fashion sense took a deTOUR here. The man wears a khaki hat and shorts, with a light blue polo shirt. Both of them are wearing eyeglasses. The woman at right is clad in a purple top with a black skirt. Both women are taking pictures with their cell phones. We can see the beach below them, and Jeff’s drawn a slew of umbrellas pitched into the sand, and I’m counting five people sitting under them. Two sunbathers are seen sitting on the sand, and a couple is strolling by the waters’ edge, holding hands. Four figures are seen wading in the water. The details are amazing. Sunhats off to Jeff! But let’s back up. I’m pretty sure the man leaving the bus is Jeff. The hair, the glasses, the Poi Dog Pondering T-Shirt, the grin. But here’s where it gets a little confusing. The woman that he’s speaking with..I can’t be sure that it’s his wife Kathy. It resembles her, but her hair is straight, and Jeff usually draws her with wavy hair. But then again, we are in Europe…the water’s different….maybe no conditioner? I’m just not sure. And if it is Kathy, what is she holding in her hand? A selfie stick? A paddle of some kind? Is it not Kathy, but the TOUR GUIDE? …I’m totally at SEA with this. And unless Jeff sets us STRAIT?…I’m simply LOST AT SEE…Oh…and way off in the distance? Jeff’s adorable signature sinking SAILBOAT. So, There you have it, Folks! Done! Have a great day, Everyone…and I’ll SEA you tomorrow! 🚌🙋🏻

  1. Snow continues to fall gently outside while I drift back to my days as a sailor.
The fever races within to Don a uniform but will clearly need it tailored.
Forty years have passed – old pants lack their crease
And not sure they will fit as I’ve grown a little obese.
Savor the moment of days long passed. And don’t lament til the next storm stirs my past.

That’s all I’ve got. Have a good day!

    • That’s all? Ha! That’s plenty! 👏🏻👏🏻 Great job, Jim! Really!!! 🌟🌟🌟 I’m left wondering what’s fact and what’s fiction…the imagery is wonderful….See, I knew it was you that wrote a poem last year relating to the days’ puzzle about being back in your bachelor days and learning that it was key to keep your home neat in the pursuit of a woman …I had asked if it was you, but you didn’t reply. Now I know I was right…And I’m pretty sure I saved it, but it’s a little hard to locate without knowing the date..but I’m determined to find it…Thank you for taking the time to write..I love it! Hope you have a great day, Jim! You’ve gotten mine off to a great start! 🙋🏻

  2. Good Morning, Chuck! …LOL! A Twist! 🙋🏻
° It’s seems within a MOMENT that the SAILOR grew OBESE,
HIs service years behind him, decades since his release…
But food became a passion, the FEVER burned so bright…
The “Ship Ahoy’s” now Chips Ahoy…each and every night!

  3. Hi, Angela. Here’s what I came up with. Because he was still a bit delirious from his recent FEVER, the SAILOR was caught up in the MOMENT and didn’t realize that the OBESE woman- waiting at the bottom of the gangplank- was his sister.

    • LOL! You crack me up! Again, the imagery! Good Morning, Chuck. Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Good content, and funny, besides! A great combination! Too bad I’m in a rush to make an appt, because I have a few more…I’ll catch up later when I get back..🙋🏻

    • Hey Chuck…For you. I have 2 others, but there’s no way I’d get around the censors! 😷🙋🏻

° He never meant to let it go, his constant over eating…
And now he’s gotten so OBESE, his happiness is fleeting…
He never thought he’d use that word to mean something gone by
A SAILOR’s thought of fleeting…should just mean his ship on high…
But caught up in the FEVER of Italian food so good…
He indulged more than normal, once back in the neighborhood.
And now the only MOMENT when he’s not in food so deep,
Is when he gets himself to bed…and finally falls asleep…

° Picture it: SAILOR on leave and it’s been awhile…. he remembers a lot of liquor, OBESE twins singing a drunken rendition of “FROM SEA TO SEA”, and that fleeting MOMENT….and now, the FEVER….

  4. Jim, I enjoyed your thoughts about your Navy days! Just wondering if you ever came into contact with the vessel USNS Upshur..

  5. Good morning. For the Moment the Obese Sailor having a Fever and falling overboard still remains afloat in the ocean. Having been a sailor I was surprised that that was the word that took me the longest to get. As far as the cartoon,I did see right through those quotation marks. Angela I will check out the song after I end here. Just loved your poem and word usage. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Brooklyn in the House! And representing! Love it, Paul…despite the macabre tone! Good Morning! You guys are just getting better and better. I think I’ve created a band of monsters! And you couldn’t get SAILOR? Too funny! ! 😂😂 Thanks for the Shout Outs, Bud, you’re such a Sweetheart…😘 I wish I wasn’t in so much of a rush, cause I got a few more up my sleeve…but I gotta run. I hope you like the song. Not one of my favorites, but I felt it fit the puzzle. I do like Johnny though…Catch you later, Brooklyn. Ciao, Bello! 🙋🏻

  6. Agree, easiest puzzle of the week w no problems, not even with sailor.Plus the final solution from see to shining see,was a given with the quotation marks.

    • Good Morning, Professor! Yep, Easy breezy…like sailing out on the SEA! And yep, it was a given…cute, clever, and a gift! 😉 Have a great day, Prof! 🙋🏻

  7. Hi all – Since they mentioned the seas by name, I thought that they might be going for a pun on “strait”, thinking of the Dardanelles. But that didn’t fit, and when I looked it up, I found I was confusing the Black Sea with the Baltic.
Had to write down the letters to get SAILOR, which I thought was very ironic, because I had already wondered whether Angela would post a song for Paul –
🎵”I joined the Navy to see the world
And what did I see? I saw the sea”🎵
(By the way Angela, are you channelling your inner Lina Wertmüller here?)

Have a great day everyone. We get a chance to dry out a bit until tomorrow night.

  8. Angela – I wonder if the woman at the bus is the tour guide and holding up one of those signs to keep the group together. I think I’ve seen that, especially with groups of Japanese tourists.

    • Yes, that’s why I mentioned it in my post…and the “paddle” also, which you see the Guides carry. And she is standing at the door as they do while the passengers alight. (Or is it alit)? So then, is it Jeff? So then, where’s Kathy? So then..Do you think I take this too seriously?😉🤦🏻‍♀️

  9. I think I know the song “Saw the Sea” from an album my father had which was a collection of songs from WWII, including “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree”, “They’re Either Too Young or Too Old” (a *great* song), “Into the Wild Blue Yonder” (with the original lyrics “Nothing can stop the Army Air Corps”), but my favorite was always “Coming In On a Wing and a Prayer”.

  10. “By the Sea By the Sea By the Beautiful Sea, You and Me You and Me Oh How Happy We’ll Be”… Sailor has tripped me up before but not today..Obese was the word that took me the longest to solve. The cartoon answer was a given. Happy Thursday everyone. Hi

    • Good Morning, Betty! I like your intro! 🎶🎶 Yes, it was a given. And a great drawing ✍🏻 Happy Thursday to you too! 🙋🏻

  11. From memory, some lyrics for the song above, sung by a woman lamenting the fact that all the eligible men are in the service:
🎵”They’re either too old or too young
So darling you’ll never get stung
There isn’t any gravy. The gravy’s in the Navy
They’re either too young or too old
They’re either too fast or too fast asleep…
Tomorrow I’ll go hiking with that Eagle Scout unless
I get a call from Grandpa for a snappy game of chess”🎵 😂😂🙋🏻‍♂️

  12. Who or what determines if the poll (survey) is published.? I find it interesting how the other players fared and what word gave them problems.

    • Hi Al. Good Afternoon. Mike started posting the poll a while ago. And readers, besides you have expressed that they enjoy seeing it’s results. I mentioned putting it up in his absence, but he decided to do it when he posts the puzzle, which is Monday through Thursday. But now, with him being on vacation, and the posts being done by me each day, it won’t be up again until he returns. Sorry to disappoint you. Hope your day’s going well. Take care. 🙋🏻

    • Yes, it was…Especially when there wasn’t an “A” to be SEAn! 😉 Happy to SEE you, Denny. Hope you’re having a good one! 🙋🏻
