CARTOON ANSWER:   THE ANT’S EGGS HATCHED AND SHE DIDN’T MIND A BIT WHEN THE BABIES STARTED – – –

HUN   BE   IG   RGG   =   BUGGING HER

Good Morning, Everyone!            🐜 A LITTLE MORNING ANT…ICS! 🐜

🎶 The ANTS go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah..the ANTS go marching two by two, hurrah, hurrah…The ANTS go marching three by three…the little one stops to climb a tree…And they all go marching down to the ground…To get out of the rain…🎶 “The Ants Go Marching” – (Unsure) First appeared in Barney’s Campfire Sing Along – 1990    https://tinyurl.com/y4otop6h

🐜🐜 I’m so turned off by insects, I take it to extremes,
The sight of any crawly thing can surely evoke screams.
The thought of Ant eggs hatching turns my mood to INDIGO…
The tolerance is just not there…I see a bug…I go.
I told the story here once ’bout waking during the night,
And seeing in my bathroom a spider…Ugh the sight!
My other soundly sleeping, should I HOUND him to awake?
But it was dark and I just froze, and how long might it take?
So standing there all GROGGY, I tried to BRIBE myself,
To just reach up for any spray…they’re right there on the shelf…
Instead I just took action, and reached out towards the candles,
And took the lighter lying there…was all that I could handle.
‘Twas much more easy than I thought, I just burned down the house…
I figured this way I’d be free of any future louse…
It’s like I said, extreme I know, but I’m sure you’d concur,
It’s never only one spider…I solved the BUGGING HER 🐜🐜

Once again today, all of our words are old favorites, with HOUND and INDIGO having made numerous appearances, the most recent being in 2018. BRIBE’s been featured twice, both times in 2016, and we’ve only seen GROGGY once before, on October 2, 2017. As for the level of difficulty? GEE…GROGGY caused a pause with that “G” CREEPING up over and over, and believe it or not, BRIBE caused a blink too. A few of the Early Birds saw BgIB and RIB and as a result got caught between the SMOCK and the HARD PLACE...Ok, on to our cartoon…

So, ANTS. Creepy, crawly, Mama with all her little descendANTS…Located in an underground home somewhere, we see our proud parANTS starting their day. While Dad’s bidding adieu, we see Mama having some quality time with her precious newly-hatched offspring. And there’s 13 of them. 13! What’d I tell you, Folks? There’s NEVER just one! And you guys know how I’m such a stickler for detail…so I looked real closely to see if I could determine their genders for you. Since I see only 6 with Jeff’s signature eyelashes, I’m going with 6 girls. GrANTed, 2 ANTS have their backs to the camera, and there’s 1, third from the top at right that has his/her head thrown back, but I scrutinized the rest, and I’m pretty sure I got it right. Usually you can tell an ANT’S gender easily…You know, you put them in water…Whoever sinks, Girl ANT. Whoever floats… buoyANT. Easy. But being at a disadvANTage here, I did the best I could. Anyway, despite the majority of them clamoring for attention, Mama seems totally unfazed. And keep in mind, Dad’s leaving her with all these little BUGgers! So I guess it’s true…she didn’t mind a bit when the babies started…BUGGING HER! Ha! Good one, David! BrIlliANT!

Ok, eye candy. Eggshells are strewn on the ground, surrounding Mama, and all the ANTS are a cocoa-ish brown color. RED ANTS I guess.  But it turns out that it’s Dad, heard saying that he’s “Off to work“, who really CREPT  in to get the attention. Seen leaving, standing in the doorway where a WELCOME mat lies at the threshold, he’s wearing a yellow hard hat, and carrying a lunchpail. But what got my ANTtenEYE up this morning? With his thumb extended in the air, he’s gesturing towards his place of business…Which turns out to be an ANT HILL! And we can see his 8 co-workers working their way up…HA! Leave it to Jeff to give us such whimsically extravgANT details! Kudos, Jeff! You outdid yourself with this one! So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone…And I’ll leave you with a little BUG humor…

A male ANT and a male LADYBUG got into a conversation. The Ant asked the Ladybug..”So, if you’re a male, why aren’t you called a Manbug“? The Ladybug answered…”Well, if you’re a male, why aren’t you known as an Uncle“? …SemANTics, huh? 🐜🐜🙋🏻

  1. With your aversion to those little critters I would have to be led to believe you probably are averse to being served ANTipasto in an Italian restaurant and I’ll bet squid is out too. That’s all I’ve got. If I solve these and get crossword done before I’m off to work it’s usually a good day.

    • Good Morning, Jim. LOL! No, I love my ANTipasto! But Bravo…👏🏻👏🏻! Good one! The squid? We refer to it as Calamari, and I love that too. With hot sauce, and lots of lemon…Wishing you a great day! 🐜🙋🏻

  2. Good morning. My choice for hardest word would be Indigo. It took me longer to get than the other three words combined. Once I put down all the letters for the cartoon and seeing all the Gs it didn’t take long for the answer. The creators are batting a thousand lately. Angela you’re right there with the boys from your use of the words, song choice, poem, puns and now a shot as a comedian. Eggcelant ending. Before I started I watched the song video and the melody to the song was driving me buggy. Even after the song was done I was still trying to figure out the real words to it when Eureka, it came to me. It was from one of my really old time favorite movies. The song: When Johnny comes marching home again. The movie:Starlig 17 with William Holden. It was about prisoners of war in a German prison camp. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Bright Sunny Morning, Brooklyn! I see you’re still languishing in No Name Land…No luck yet I guess. Yes, to the tune of 🎶When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again🎶 Turned it into a silly little kids song…makes my skin crawl! LOL…But it immediately came to mind this morning when I saw all those little critters. I so agree that the Jumble Boys gave us a cute one today. And it really wasn’t much of a stumper…But Kudos to Jeff. The details are so amazing! …So, I like the movie too. Bill Holden was good in anything he was in. And quite easy on the eyes to boot! Thanks for the Shout Outs, you’re a Gem, and I’m loving your EGGcelent…👏🏻👏🏻! Very well played! Have a good one, Brooklyn..🐜🙋🏻

    • Paul…Forget to mention…The “driving you BUGGY”! Another good one! 👏🏻👏🏻 Looks like you definitely had your Wheaties this morning! 😉🙋🏻

  3. While in a GROGGY mental state one night and having accepted a BRIBE from a man in an INDIGO overcoat, she now fears this indiscretion will HOUND her for the rest of her life and it’s really BUGGING HER.

    • Well, well, well…What have we here? Asked the Spider of the Fly?? Upped your game, I see! Very well done, Sir! 👏🏻👏🏻 EGGcelent, if I may steal a word from Paul! You’re getting more and more creative here on this WEB page, aren’t you? I love it! My offering, done a few hours ago is a tinge similar to yours, but I favor your use of “indiscretion”…Seems very relevant in our current state of affairs! 😉 Great job….You’re becoming a regular logophile! Wishing you a great day, Chuck! 🐜🙋🏻

° He was a HOUND…plain and simple…he hadn’t stopped BUGGING HER since she walked in, and if it wasn’t bad enough that he pretended to be GROGGY as he spilt his drink on her new INDIGO dress, now he thought he could win her over with his BRIBE of dry cleaning service…

    • Good Morning, Clay..,Thank you! Got a little compound usage out of that one…BOY-ANT..served me well! 😂😂 I wasn’t EGGSactly sure how I wanted to spell it, so I just WINGed it…But I gave myself a bigger laugh from the BIB and RIB…getting caught between the SMOCK and the HARD PLACE…Been there many a time! 😉 Thanks again, Clay, and hope you’re having a great day! 🐜🙋🏻

  4. Indigo was originally looking like doing with a left over ‘I’ .Otherwise easy going so to speak with a plethora of ‘g’ s.

    • Good Morning, Professor. GEE Whiz! Plethora is right…1 in Indigo, 3 in Groggy, another 2 in Eggs..and then the 3 in Bugging! We’ve definitely had our fill of G’s that’s for sure! Have a “G”reat day, Prof! 🐜🙋🏻

  5. Hi all – It was pretty obvious that the ING wouldn’t stay at the end of the third word, so it took a couple of looks to see INDIGO. Also obvious that ING would be in the answer, but had to write the letters to see the word.

Is an ant really a bug? I’ll let the entomologists NIT-pick that question.

So she’s a mama and an ant at the same time? Reminds me of the old song 🎵”I’m my own grandpa”🎵

Gotta love the guy walking out the door saying “I’m off to work” like it’s a big sacrifice to provide for his family, when you know he’s really thinking “Thank goodness I get to escape all these kids.”

    Have a great day everyone.
I missed a few days because my wife was sick. She’s better now and things are back to normal.

Great stuff with the ants in water, Angela. Sounds like my New England ancestors’ method of determining who was a witch!

“After getting drunk, the GROGGY promoter tried to HOUND one of the INDIGO Girls with a BRIBE to perform at his venue, but soon discovered that BUGGING HER was a very bad idea.”

    • Steve:
Technically only insects in the order Heteroptera are bugs, but as you alluded to, all insects and even some non-insects are commonly called bugs.

      • Thanks Mike! I’ll look that up, also to find out how to classify The Crickets and The Beatles! 😂 Always amazing how much you can learn by reading or asking the commenters here. I remember one of my teachers gently chiding people for referring to all bacteria and viruses as “germs”. 😂🙋🏻‍♂️

    • Hey Steve. Again, glad to hear the good news. You know, I didn’t see Indigo as a stumper. We’ve had it 5 times before, and it didn’t really cause much of a problem, but it looks like it CREPT up on you guys today….Mama and Ant-Good one! So, Dad going off to work? I mean with all those mouths to feed? Let’s face it, the man has to be working 🎶 hard for the money🎶, don’t you think? I’m sure he’s not just working for CRUMBS! 😉 Thanks for the Shout Out, G. As much as it CREEPed me out, it was a fun puzzle. And your sentence…👏🏻👏🏻 ! Very well done! Hope you’re having a great day, G. Enjoy! 🐜🙋🏻
