CARTOON ANSWER: THE BOUTIQUE WAS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS, SO THEY HAD A – – –

TAL   COE   STEO   SLUH   =   “CLOTHES -OUT” SALE

Good Morning, Everyone!            πŸ‘—CLOTHES ENCOUNTERS πŸ‘—

🎢 I move to dissolve the corporation…In a pool of margaritas,
So let’s switch off all the lights…And light up all the Luckies, crankin’ up the afterglow…’Cause we’re GOIN’ OUT OF BUSINESS…EVERYTHING MUST GO…🎢Everything Must Go” – Steely Dan 2003 https://tinyurl.com/yb3ft4jg

πŸ‘— Despite the no exchanging, no refund or no return,
A Going Out of Business Sale has many a head turned…
You’re in a COUPE and driving by, or maybe on a walk,
Or maybe you already knew…by hearing others talk.
You get to TRAWL for bargains, on the street if it’s not SLUSHY
And there’s so much that one can buy, especially those not fussy.
Some stores may use a STEREO, to blare out to the street,
Drawing attention to the shop, and there the owner greets…
And let’s you know that bargains wait, cause she’s about to bail,
The warmer weather ‘waits her..so here’s the “CLOTHES-OUT” SALE! πŸ‘—

In what might be a first, today we bring 3 new entries into the Jumble FOLD…The only word that’s a Sweet Repeat is STEREO, which we’ve seen 6 times since 2014, with the last appearance being July 14th, ’18, where it was anagrammed as TREESO. All 4 words caused a slight pause this morning, with TRAWL and SLUSHY calling for the most attention…That being said, let’s CLOTHES OUT this word portion, and MOVE on to our cartoon…

Today we find a ourselves outdoors at the PEEK-A-BOUTIQUE, where a GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE is in progress. We see the owner, Doreen Tail, (who goes by Ree for short), telling a customer that she’s CLOTHESing up SHOP and “moving someplace warmer”. I guess REE TAIL feels that she just doesn’t want to RACK her brains anymore worrying about the cold weather…The customer she’s speaking with, happy to be “walking by“, can be seen going through BLOUSES of various colors, while holding a Blue SCARF draped over her arm. Another woman is off to the side, looking through a display of SOCKS. And with 80% OFF, you know these items are marked to MOVE. But once the inventory’s gone, so will Ree be…The business will CLOTHES…So our solution? The Boutique’s having a “CLOTHES-OUT” SALE! Good job, David! You’ve SOLD us!

Ok, let’s adDRESS the eye candy…The panel’s colored pink. Except for the Red 80% OFF sign seen right above the CLOTHES RACK, all the signage is bright Yellow. Ree is DRESSed in a Black scalloped BLOUSE with Gray SLACKS. The woman she’s speaking with is wearing a Black MAXI SKIRT, with a White BLOUSE. And our second shopper is clad in a Purple top and JEANS. The 4 BLOUSES on the rack, all either Short-Sleeved or Sleeveless, are left to right, Mauve, Black, Red, and Peach. The customer is holding a Green one. At the curb, we see a stand, reading EVERYTHING MUST GO, holding 3 BERETS, Peach, Brown and Beige, with a few Green SCARVES folded beside them….It’s a nice LOOK, but nothing’s really catching my eye, so I’ll just CLOTHES this OUT…So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And keep in mind…Serious SHOPPING is not for the faint of heart…You need to take CHARGE! πŸ‘—πŸ™‹πŸ»

  1. My, my! Steely Dan!! A favorite, especially the 70’s for me. With some notable exceptions, not so familiar with the stuff after they got back together but this song demonstrates how much their lyrics contribute to the enjoyment. Excellent choice!
β€œNow we dolly back, now we fade to black.”

  2. Good Morning, Anonymous! Thank you. Yes, it’s my first Steely Dan entry here. Not that I haven’t considered them in the past…They did have some rich lyrics…(you’ll note that I left the opening lines out of my post) But Haitian Divorce…That Quickie Divorce? It said it all right? That burning love..(that turned the Preachers face red)! Marital strife…Domestic Violence…Threat of divorce…Reconsider?…Over indulgence…(Too many Zombies from the Cocoa Shell)! Flirtation…That Merengue’ll get you every time…And your Dolly Back…and Fade to Black? Infidelity…Then Regret. But…Reconsider, again…Reconciliation…And…Baby, Baby…But Who’s your Daddy?….Phew, huh? Well, that’s my take on it anyway…Great piece…and THAT’s an excellent choice! Anyway, glad you enjoyed my choice and thanks again! Have a good one! πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ™‹πŸ»

  3. Good morning. It took a little time to get the words today. I had a different word for stereo. I was so sure it was Rosete that I didn’t realize I was wrong until I checked all the words. Rosette as one can see has two Ts. I use to make them every once in awhile on the elevator cable ends when they had to be shortened. The cartoon answer was fairly easy believing that the last word was Sale. Out had to be the second word leaving Clothes for the wrap-up. Angela another fine use of the words poem and puns. The song choice was another first for me. Your father did good by you grasshopper. He gave you a vast knowledge of all music. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. The Early Birds are in agreement with you this morning, the words took a second glance, and the answer was the easiest of it all. (I liike your “clothes wrap-up”)! You know, I wasn’t sure if you’d enjoy my song choice, I know it’s not your taste. But the laid back calypso vibe is a nice sound, right? Thanks for the Shout Outs, Bud, especially the one to my Dad. β€οΈπŸ’” He definitely did instill the “fever” in me! Hoping you have a great day, Brooklyn! Ciao, Bello! πŸ‘—πŸ™‹πŸ»

  4. Doctor Wu and Aja are my favorites by Steely Dan! I miss music when it was actually music!

    • Hey Clay…Aja and Dr Wu? Who knew? πŸ˜‰ I oft wonder how many women in their early 40’s are running around out there named Aja? I bet there’s a slew of them….And the line…🎢 I was halfway crucified🎢…I think it haunted and defined me for years…Yep, when music was REALLY music….Hope you’re enjoying it all, Clay! πŸ‘—πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Hey Professor…General consensus is the answer was a given….clever, but easy. And hoping you’re keeping warm too. Have a good one, Prof. πŸ‘—πŸ™‹πŸ»

  5. Like others, I found the cartoon answer more easily than the clue words. For some reason stereo seems to cause me pause every time it appears. Thinking of all of you back there with your cold cold weather. We had lots of rain last week but are enjoying warmer and sort of balmy days. No further rain predicted here until next month. Happy Friday everyone.

    • Hi Betty. I think a lot of people have those certain few words that are thorns in our sides. You’re not alone. Thanks for the well wishes, and I’m glad you got your much needed rain. Balmy…now that I’m jealous of! Wishing you a happy Friday too, Betty. Be well…πŸ‘—πŸ™‹πŸ»

  6. Hi all – I took a second look at all of these. Before TRAWL i saw TWARL (what a cowpoke does with his lariat), saw RESTORE and then actually missed the word, since I thought it was SORTEE. The last word was looking like ULYSSES before SLUSHY.

Speaking of β€œslushy” and β€œmoving somewhere warmer”, the forecast for the Twin Cities next Tuesday is for a HIGH of -7 and a low of -23, and I had to laugh when the weatherman said β€œThere’s nothing between the North Pole and Minnesota but a barbed-wire fence.”

Doesn’t it seem like the normal price of those gloves should be 20% off anyway, since they’re missing 20% of the fingers?

Angela, Doreen is going to a place so much warmer, she’ll need her VISA!

    Happy Friday, everyone!

    • I also saw sortee first rather than stereo. Our WCentral Illinois temps are to be Minn like next Tues w a forecasted low of -17.

    • IDK, Steve…I’m finding it a little hard to GRANT you an ok on the ULYSSES..πŸ˜‰ The VISA? πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»! Have a good one G! πŸ‘—πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • I guess my answer just didn’t fit the ($50) BILL! πŸ˜‚
For the consolation prize, I’ll have to try Groucho’s question – β€œWho’s buried in GRANT’s Tomb?” πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

  7. The sixties teenagers, in their Chevy COUPE with the STEREO blaring, navigated the SLUSHY terrain so that they might see their friends TRAWL from a fishing boat.

    • Hey Chuck! You just get better and better!’πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» Hope your day is going well…πŸ‘—πŸ™‹πŸ»
