👓 When shopping for new glasses, it’s sometimes hard to choose,
So many frames considered, it’s often win or lose…
EPOXY plastic, tortoise-shell, the ones shaped like a SLEIGH,
And ones that make you feel like you’re a BIKER chick at play.
You’re sitting there so FREELY, the colors, shapes abound
It’s hard making decisions with so many choices ’round…
Designer names among them, the name upon the frame,
Not really that impressive, ’cause they’ll fit you just the same…
But like our girl we see here, before we make those buys…
Perfection’s what we look for…and that’s “BE-FOR” HER EYES!👓
While none of today’s words were new, there were a few tics here and there. FREELY last seen on September 9th, didn’t come so freely, a few of the Early Birds BLINKED at BIKER, and SLEIGH slayed 3 of the guys…Our oldest entry today: EPOXY, not seen since September 2016, and posing no problem…Ok, LENS SEE what our cartoon has to offer…
Our puzzle today brings us inside a neighborhood EYEGLASS Emporium, the HOCUS FOCUS. We see Sarah, the Optician, EYEdentifEYEd by her name tag, fitting our girl, EYEleen for a new pair of glasses. Her dialogue, stating “fit you perfectly NOW“, let’s us know that this isn’t the first LOOK…we’ve walked in on the second FRAME of this picture. But this time, Sarah has adjusted the glasses to an EYEdeal fit, and EYEleen is loving it…So much so, that she’s LOOKING forward to wearing them out…And why not? Let’s FACE it, every woman wants GLASSES that make her LOOK SPECtacular, am I right? And a little SPECS Appeal doesn’t hurt either…So of course EYEleen wants what’s perfect FOR HER…So, in answer to our question? The new GLASSES are right…”BE-FOR” HER EYES!
Ok, EYE candy! Really…EYE candy! There’s a few things to FOCUS on. The entire FRAME is SHADEd light blue, as is Sarah’s blouse, which kind of BLURS her into the background. She’s a redhead, something we don’t SEE all that often. EYEleen is wearing a purple sweater, with some nice RIBbing. The sign, HOCUS FOCUS with its EYEBALL logo, is a great LOOK, inSIGHTful…As are the three rows of FRAMES to the right of it. But as good as it all LOOKS, and as OPTOmistic as I was about the EYE candy, I feel like I’m not making CONTACT, since nothing’s really catching my EYE. So LENS just go with the happy smiles of our two girls…they’re so beFITTING! So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! Freely gave me room to pause.What I didn’t understand was that the cartoon seemed to depict HIM getting the new glasses,but the comment was “HER ” new glasses.FYI We did make it home before last night’s 4-6 in. of new snow here in WCentral Illinois.My paper delivery person’s track was the only car track on our street at 6:30 this morning,and her foot steps from the street to my front door were visible in the new fallen snow,so she could put the papers inside my storm door.Is she the best ever or not?
Good Morning, Professor. I’m glad you made it home safe. I hope you can stay put for the duration of this craziness that seems on tap for us all. The weather reports are ominous. Chuck, I’m a little confused. I’m thinking you did the puzzle from your paper alone, but then I guess you didn’t read my post.(Not that there’s anything wrong with that)! 😂😂 From the paper, it’s very hard to notice that it’s a woman in the picture, with a very close-cropped Afro hair style. Hence, I named her EYEleen…No wonder it was hard to put together. And it is almost impossible to see Jeff’s little signature heart-shaped lips, and eyelashes that he gives all his female characters.(There’s also a third determining feature…BUST I won’t mention it…Jeff’s not really BIG on this one)! 😂😂😂 Anywayyyyy. Your delivery woman? I commend her. She sounds extremely conscientious and kind too. Definitely Top Ten…But the best? My error.I didn’t read through your complete commentary on the cartoon, and though doing the puzzle from the newspaper copy, I failed to notice that the customer was a female with a short hair cut, rather than a male.Again, I should have taken a closer look at the cartoon.

Chuck you’re not alone. For the longest time I was trying to figure out if it was a girl or a guy in the picture. Then I noticed the caption, “Her new glasses”, which set me straight. It’s not cut and dry nowadays. You see someone walking in front of you with a pony tail, doesn’t mean it’s a girl anymore. Oh for the simple days.
Good morning. Had to use the calendar to get this today. The BIKER-SLEIGH broke apart on its first try in the snow because the EPOXY was too FREELY applied. Today’s words were of little trouble but not as easy as Monday. The cartoon answer took some time because I put down the X instead of the Y. After getting that straightened out, I was able to make Eyes after having Her. Another fine finish. Thanks Angela on an interesting post from your song choice to poem and puns to the hidden treasures. Until tomorrow stay well.

Thank you very much for both songs. The second one I played for a half hour. There was some great instrumental music. My oldest son made me a CD of just instrument playing songs like some that I just heard years ago. It was part of a birthday gift. The fiddle players were great. Roy Clark was great with a fiddle or guitar.

° Cruising FREELY, the BIKER sneered at the EPOXY laden SLEIGH as he passed it by.
° Since he possessed only a 6th grade education, the BIKER FREELY accepted the tutors’ corrections on his essay…SLEIGH instead of slay, and EPOXY instead of Epoxee…
° Insisting that the EPOXY would hold, and that he’d used it many times before on all his SLEIGH repairs, the mechanic put the BIKERs life in danger, by setting him FREELY on his way…
Sleigh took me the longest to solve this morning. Had to back into it. Like Paul & Chuck I too thought that the customer receiving glasses was male.

Hi all – Used the double letter trick to get FREELY more quickly. Looked twice at the last word and then had a suspicion that the GH would combine somehow, and that’s when SLEIGH popped out.
The answer reminded me (as I’ve probably mentioned) that we have an optical chain around here called “For Eyes” (as well as one called “Site For Sore Eyes”). At one time, calling someone “Four Eyes” could have been teasing, even sometimes cruel, but since both David and Jeff wear glasses I’m figuring that behavior was from back in my day and not theirs.
