1. The MASCOT was not known to recite POETRY and there was UTTER amazement when she WOUND up with a Shakespearean soliloquy.
   No problems with the words or the solution today.
   Not sure if I have solved the e-mail issue or not–I hope I am still on the list???

   • Hi Earl. I agree…I found it an easy go also…Nothing done here removes anyone from the listing…something just seems to go a little haywire with certain emails at times. We’re not sure why, either. I think Paul’s still having problems, after weeks. And y’day and today, my email went into my junk folder. Who knows? I hope you were able to clear it up. I enjoyed your take on the words…A lot of different ways to go with WOUND, right? Have a good one. 👯🙋🏻

2. Good morning. Nice work Angela from the song to the poem and puns. Earl,you keep rolling like a well oiled machine. Another easy day of solving the jumble. Mascot took an extra minute to get and would be my choice for hardest word. I had the cartoon answer lickety-split but,it didn’t match when I checked with the letters. I double checked and triple checked before I realized that I substituted e instead of o. Once the switch was done all was right with the world. Until tomorrow stay well.

     • I overlooked. your “tu tu much” quote, Angela, for which I am very sorry. I’ll try to make sure it doesn’t happen again! Your choice of song is great as Jolson was one of my favorites. I remember Larry Parks playing him in the movies and for a time I thought Parks was Jolson. Have a great weekend..

4. I didn’t get much from the blind solve today. The first word was obviously “to”, but the rest was not so obvious. After I solved the first three clue words, I saw “tutu” and it became clear that the whole thing was a big word play. MASCOT was also my hardest word. I gave up and ate breakfast, and then came back and MASCOT jumped out at me.
   Angela–I’ve been interested in Al Jolson for a while. He was born in 1886 in a Jewish village in Lithuania. Wikipedia says, “At the peak of his career, he was dubbed “The World’s Greatest Entertainer”. His performing style was brash and extroverted, and he popularized many songs that benefited from his “shamelessly sentimental, melodramatic approach.”

   • Hi Mike, Good Morning! Having sat through Ballet Recitals ad nauseam over the years, TUTU and the other TWO just fell into my lap! But, I have to say I’m surprised that MASCOT TRIPPED you up TOO, again, only because we just saw it 5 days ago. So…do you PLIÉ Bocce, TOO? 😂😂 Just a testament I guess to David’s way with those anagrams! I always had a fascination with Al Jolson TOO. And funny thing, any time someone says, “TOO TOO”, that song starts going off in my head…I sing it to the Littles all the time…albeit not with as much “vigor” as Al displays. The man could cut a rug, huh? And what d’ya make of those hips? Had me rollin’!! A while back I helped one of the kids do a paper on him, and like you, I was taken with his story. Melodrama?      • Tutu somewhere in the solution was a given as were the words to and two.Utter was originally looking like turret but lacked the second r.Yes,mascot was a quick repeat.

       I didn’t do the puzzle last Sunday, so I know not this previous MASCOT of which you speak. (Wish I had an emoji of the Philly Flyer mascot.) And I swear I’ve never PLIE’D bocce.✌

     • There’s a wonderful hockey column called “Down Goes Brown” which always includes a section titled “Three Stars of Comedy” with 3 funny things that happened in the NHL that week. He began one of the recent ones by saying “Look, I’m trying really hard not to have this be about Gritty every week, but then he goes and does something like this….”. (I think this particular example was when he crashed a wedding 😂)

   • Mike,one of the best movies I thoroughly enjoyed,that for me,the music was picked to go along with sections of the movie was ” Sleepless in Seattle”l can’t think of another movie that made such a perfect match together. The music was so great that I bought the tape to the movie. When it looked like Tom Hanks might get lucky on a first date since his wife died,the song that played was Back In The Saddle Again by Gene Autry. Al Jolson is also in there plus others. Totally fantastic set of songs. Every time I hear the song I think of the movie and smile. Sorry I posted so late. I had things to do and just remembered I never got this out earlier.

6. Hi all – There’s one of my bane words again, but this time I remembered MASCOT after trying MOSAIC. Likewise with POETRY after TROPHY.
   Saw TUTU while writing out the letters; thought it was TO THE TUTUS, then saw it was even better.

   My congrats to anyone who could make a sentence out of these words, no matter which sense of WOUND was used.

   And for coincidences, I have no idea why, but last night the line “if you don’t get a letter then you’ll know I’m in jail” was running through my head, and I used “agony of de feet” in a comment on a comic strip. 😂🙋🏻‍♂️

   • Yea, it was a Rootin’ TOOTin’ puzzle, alright! Thanks for the Shout Out..We did “Fractured French Fhrases” one night…I didn’t win, but I did have the Lous toasting me on that one!      He thought he could WOUND her with the POETRY about her MASCOT, but he couldn’t UTTER anything that affected her…

     The MASCOT for the POETRY Club only WOUND up being a bust, because he couldn’t UTTER a rhyme to save his life!
