With all of our words being old favorites, I was surprised to see DEBATE amongst the group, since we only tackled it a week ago today, when it appeared as BEDTEA. It didn’t pose any problem then, and so far this morning, it hasn’t come up for DISCUSSION. Amongst our other words, the oldest entry is LEAKY, which DROPPED in on March 22nd, 2017. No one’s voiced any concern with any of today’s entries…But I wish I could say the same for our answer. Being familiar with the word “LODE” in relation to mining, either from crossword puzzles ORE just general knowledge, and knowing about BEARING and Retaining Walls since I’ve helped to gut apartments and build a She-Shed or two…the solution was an instant read, especially seeing the words “SHORE UP” in the dialogue. But since a few of the Early Morning Jumblers have CAVED on the answer, I’m not SHORE if this one will be that easily solved. It could just be a question of MINE over MATTER, but I’m SHORE it’ll explain it all a lot better than I ever could…
Since our cartoon today has us underground, AND IN THE DARK, the panel is showing a yellow-lit background coming from the flashlight held by the Miner at left, and the Head Lamp from the Hard Hat of the Miner at right, who’s holding a pick hammer. Both are clad in Blue work shirts and Brown work shoes. Miner left is wearing Blue pants held by suspenders, while Miner right wears Black pants with an extra open-front shirt. And as they discover the “LODE”-BEARING wall, I’ve discovered this as eye candy…Miner left’s head seems to be covered with a Red cap, instead of a Hard Hat. There is a circular image showing at the front of the crown, but it’s not that clear, so I’m not SHORE if it COVERS it…So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone and after all that eating most of us did yesterday…Today seems the perfect day to just kick back, relax and take a LOAD off! 🔦⛏🙋🏻

I first thought gold bearing,then,load bearing,but finally lacking letters,lode bearing worked.Turnip was looking like upturn at first,all in all a challenging puzzle for the post Thanksgiving Black Friday.

Good morning. No problem with any of the words but when I got to the cartoon that was a different story. After three quick attempts and having a “who gives a darn attitude,”I decided to look for the answer. It was explained so well by head engineer Angie that it should have come to me after awhile. Speaking of her. I read the entry twice and thought at first it was Mikes but further down it looked like Angela’s work. But wait, where is the song that’s always at the beginning! Did the poor girl eat to much turkey and her mind was clogged. Did the Grinch somehow sabotage Angela’s work. Other than the mystery of the missing song,it was a masterpiece of work. Earl,you turnup a cornucopia of interesting work every day. Thanks. On a serious note. The best part about Thanksgiving to the end of Christmas season is that we are with family and friends and people in general are much more friendlier. most people smile and even say good morning etc as you pass one another. Shame it doesn’t last the whole year round. I often tell the grouchy guys at the bocce court that you waste more energy being mad than being glad. It doesn’t get you anywhere being in a negative frame of mind. Hey that’s enough preaching. Until tomorrow stay well.

Thanks Chuck for the explanation about Tom and Angela. It’s nice they get together on Thanksgiving but I wonder if it’s also Christmas and Easter as well. But then again it’s her business not ours. Lol. She did redeem herself with the absolute perfect song choice with Loretta Lynn.

Hi all – TURNIP took the longest after trying INPURT. DEBATE continues quite a stretch of words putting DE at the beginning instead of ED at the end.
When the miner said there was a lot to mine, I thought the answer might be “VEIN”-GLORIOUS, and it actually fit, and there was a G! Alas, no V or U.
There was GOLD in that thar answer’s letters, but when I saw LOAD, I got it, most likely from seeing displays about the Comstock Lode silver deposits when I’ve been in Nevada. (It’s a great place to get married!) (Nevada, not the Comstock Lode).
