CARTOON ANSWER:

THE CONCEITED ACTRESS HAD A SPECIAL DRESSING ROOM AND WAS SHOWING OFF HER – – –

VITNAI = VANITY

Happy Monday, everyone! David and Jeff offered up a simple puzzle to start off our week of Jumble duties. I’m sure it was a much needed respite for those players who had a difficult time with the envelope pushing surprise answers that we saw during the final days of Guest Jumbler Week.

All of today’s clue words were familiar favorites with GITEN being the only repeat anagram. They were all instantly visible upon first glance so I’ll leave a poll down below where you you can pick the stumper of the day. The oldest word in the pack was VINYL and it was last used on 6/4/16 and scrambled as YILVN. After solving all of the words, they were in reverse alphabetical order.

With Guest Jumbler Week #6 in the books, it’s time to welcome back our familiar cast of characters that we know and love. In today’s panel we see two women having a conversation in a dressing room. The woman on the left has a surprised look on her face as she observes the luxurious surroundings of her friend. The woman on the right is described by the cartoon sentence as a “conceited actress” which explains the over abundance of mirrors.

My eyes were instantly drawn to the large tri-fold mirror sitting upon a small table. Upon it is a hand mirror as well as another picture frame mirror. I was surprised that the table didn’t have any drawers for hair brushes or accessories. Since we’re only getting a small glimpse of the room, I’m sure there are other areas where those items are kept. There is a portrait of the actress in an ornate frame hanging on the wall which was a bit creepy to see. My favorite detail within the cartoon was the bust of her face on a pedestal. It has the same pointy nose as the actress as well as a stiff botox injected upper lip!

The layout for the final solution was a 6-letter anagram. VANITY jumped out at me instantly making this one an quick solve. I’m sure we’ll have some challenging puzzles later this week and maybe even a Thanksgiving themed cartoon on Thursday. Have a marvelous Monday, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

  1. Good Morning, Mike. I SEE you too enjoyed today’s puzzle! Have a great day! πŸ‘€πŸ™‹πŸ»

  2. 🎢 You walked into the party…Like you were walking on a yacht, Your hat strategically dipped below one EYE, your scarf, it was apricot…You had one EYE on the MIRROR and watched yourself gavotte…And all the guys dreamed that they’d be your partner…They’d be your partner, and…YOU’RE SO VAIN…you probably think this song is about you…YOU’RE SO VAIN…I’ll bet you think this song is about you. Don’t you? Don’t you?..🎢 “You’re So Vain” – Carly Simon 1972 https://tinyurl.com/ycnalwdc

πŸ‘€ Mirror Mirror on the wall…for her isn’t enough,
This woman here, so self-absorbed she’s one of fawn and fluff…
No imitation VINYL would ever she endure,
She’s all for glitz, no FIZZLE…and more is really more.
A view from every angle, so she could primp and preen,
And looking at herself, to her is just so PEACHY keen.
With her there is no regret, there’s not a TINGE of doubt,
She takes her beauty quite in stride…conceit’s what she’s about…
So Mirror, Mirror, all around the only certainty…
And view she will herself all day…her name is VANITY! πŸ‘€

With all of today’s words being Sweet Repeats, there was really no problem SEEING our way through this morning. But there were two small DOUBLE TAKES…TINGE and PEACHY. Four of the Early Birds claimed they STARED at Tinge for an extra second or two, despite it having appeared here as recently as June 18th. And Peachy, last seen on August 3rd, 2017, was a little FUZZY at first glance…But they all were solved soon enough, and we went LOOKING forward to the cartoon…

Today we SEE ourselves in the dressing room of the Actress, IMA REAL-LOOKER. The woman with her seems to be her Mom, SUE REAL. (After Ima’s brief marriage to a Mr. LOOKER, she decided to keep his last name, because it just fit her IMAGE so well). The women are SEEN discussing what Ima’s done to DRESS UP the room..and how it truly REFLECTS her personality. She’s had a special TRI-FOLD MIRRORED VANITY installed, so that she can SEE herself from “every angle”. Rumors abound that she may have gotten the idea from the movie she’s currently starring in, “A Room With a VIEW”. Hmm..Anyway, we can SEE that Sue’s a little shocked, since she didn’t raise Ima to be like this, conceited…and she’s thinking that her daughter really needs to take a GOOD HARD LOOK AT HERSELF…Unfortunately though, she already is! So…With the VANITY on display, and Ima’s VANITY way in play…Our answer today…Ole, Ole? It’s VANITY! So easy to SEE…Good one, David…This one was just STARING us right in the face!

Ok, eye candy…What do we SEE? As the picture unFOLDS, we SEE Sue dressed nicely, in a Purple PLEATED Skirt, with a Black Blazer and Black low-heeled Pumps. With her hand being held up to her mouth, we can definitely SEE that the whole thing REFLECTS her feelings of incredulousness. Ima, clad in a sashed green Dressing Gown, and wearing ball shaped hanging earrings, is pointing towards her light Brown colored TRI-FOLD MIRRORED VANITY with pride. Oddly, we can’t see her feet…A framed photo of her, wearing the same earrings but with a diamond necklace, and showing highLIGHTing around her CROWN, is seen hanging on the wall. Atop the VANITY, sits a square stand-up MIRROR, and a red hand-held one…I mean you can never have enough MIRRORS, can you? The VANITY has a Peach colored cushioned sitting stool, with ornately shaped gold legs, and it’s placed upon a fluffy white throw rug. And lastly, we have a blonde wig sitting upon a Wig Block as the canvas head-stands are called. But, as PRETTY as our picture is, Folks? There’s nothing really STRIKING..So, today we’ll go with what we don’t SEE…Two things,..Ima’s aforementioned missing feet, and the little oddity I can’t get past with the VANITY. It’s drawn with what appears to be LIGHT bulbs at top, three on each fold. But there’s no sign of illumination drawn, and they’re colored in the same LIGHT Brown shade as the VANITY. And one would think that with an ego as big as Ima’s..wouldn’t her FAME be up in LIGHTS? So, There you have it, Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone…And keep in mind…”EGO” is a little word, but it carries a lot of weight. Be a bigger person: Skip the “E” and let it “GO”! πŸ‘€πŸ™‹πŸ»

  3. Good morning. The Vinyl record that had a Peachy Tinge to it did Fizzle at the sales department. Today’s entire jumble was a typical Monday. Just a slight pause at Tinge but everything else including the cartoon was an instant read. Angela, good song choice and enjoyed everything else. Yesterday I had to go out early and never got a chance to post. Your song choice for yesterday was a first for me. I had a little trouble with one of the words but like today, the cartoon answer came very quickly. You could say an instant solve. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Hey Brooklyn. Good Morning. About yday…I knew as soon as I realized how late I was posting for a Sunday, that I’d miss you. My schedule was really screwed up, and I didn’t get in here until late…Sorry to leave you hanging. Y’days song was a first for a lot of people. I don’t know if you saw a late comment from a new recruit named Ed, who said that he didn’t even think anyone else besides him even knew of the song. But it is a funny one, right? I hope you enjoyed it. Kudos for your sentence here, you never fail to make me laugh…Thanks for the Shout Outs, and have a good one, Paul. Here’s LOOKING at you, Kid! πŸ‘€πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Hey Chuck..Good Morning….Nice reminder…And I’m sure you’ll SCORE with some History Buff FOUR it…Have a good one! πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • LOL…You’re very welcome, Chuck. Lincoln was always one of my favorite Presidents. Speaking of, have you by any chance seen this week’s episode of “Will and Grace”? Jack, the eternal Peter Pan, makes an attempt to put on a play about Lincoln. I literally Laughed out Loud through the entire episode. Irreverence is putting it mildly. Typical “W&G” fare. If you haven’t seen it, and you could use a good laugh, check it out….Have a good one, Chuck! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  4. The maid had a major TINGE of regret when the PEACHY dessert dropped on the VINYL floor and the aerosol topping tin set off a frenzied FIZZLE.
Not easy words to sensibly put into one sentence. πŸ€”

  5. Hi all – PEACHY was my hardest word, and I had to write the letters to get VANITY.

Mike, thanks for pointing out an alternative interpretation of β€œstiff upper lip”. πŸ˜‚

Angela, your poem called to mind the old saying, β€œVanity, thy name is … Jumble!” Turns out Shakespeare didn’t actually say that, but rather β€˜β€œFrailty”.

All of that dressing room is amazing, but upon further REFLECTION, it’s the three-part mirror that’s a real TRIP-tych.
For me, the scene instantly called up the attic room full of mirrors in one of the scariest TV shows I’ve ever seen; a 1961 episode of β€œThriller”, hosted by Boris Karloff and starring a young William Shatner, called β€œThe Hungry Glass”. It’s on YouTube here:

    Have a great Monday everyone!

    • Hey G…Peachy got you last time out too. Guess you can say it’s the PITS, right? πŸ˜‚ You know I think you guys are missing the forest for the trees. Years ago, all women had VANITIES. Just like Jeff’s drawn here. Women would sit there and do their make-up, their hair, or have a facial, etc. .There’s nothing odd or scary about it. The pun is absolute perfection…David knew exactly what he was speaking of. My Grandmother had a tri-fold mirrored VANITY just like the one depicted here. She passed it on to my Mother. And when my Mother married, she bought her own, as did all her sisters. Bedroom sets were sold with a Vanity as a standard piece. So there’s really nothing that odd about the puzzle…Well…maybe the 8’10 glossy on the wall, but she IS an actress! πŸ˜‚ LOOKS like our Miss IMA REAL-LOOKER may not really be that conceited after all! Have a good one, G! πŸ˜‰πŸ’„πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • I just went back in to correct all my typos! I really need to to trim these claws! πŸ’…πŸ»πŸ™‹πŸ»
And I did it again!!!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
