Good Morning, Everyone!         💃🏻 LAST TANGO IN…MARRIAGE? 💃🏻

🎶 Will you be my Mr. Right?…Can you fill my appetite? I can’t be sure that you’re the one for me…But all that I ask is that you DANCE with me…Oh I need you, by me, beside me, to guide me, to hold me, to scold me, ’cause when I’m bad, I’m so, so jbad…So let’s DANCE, this last DANCE..Let’s DANCE, this last DANCE..Let’s DANCE, this last DANCE, tonight…🎶 “Last Dance” – Donna Summer 1978

💃🏻When “Dancing With the Stars” began so many years ago,
I think most people thought..”Dancing? Boy, what a joke this show”…
To take professional dancers and try to UNIFY a team,
With stars and teach them how to dance…far-fetched is what it seemed…
The stars we thought would be SCARCE, but little did we know,
The show became an instant hit, on air and VIDEO.
We saw a renewed interest in dancing where there’s touch…
With backgrounds of PAGODAs and Castles and the such.
The romance found resurgence, more couples took a chance…
And soon enough we got to see much less of “AVOID DANCE”! 💃🏻

OLE…Friday! Today’s words, while all Sweet Repeats, in my opinion, are anagrammed with a little more difficulty this time around. The oldest of our group, VIDEO, last appeared back on December 15th, 2016, but as Voide. A lot easier to SEE…And so far this morning, this is what I’m hearing from the Early Morning Jumblers: Avoid and Endive. Endive? N ..where’s the N? And the other stickler, SCARCE, seen a mere three weeks ago exactly, on October 13th as Racesc, didn’t cause any of the brouhaha that it’s causing today. Im getting a lot of Saucer! Well, U know there’s no U…So, if you’re going to DISH it out…etc, etc…Anyway, our remaining two words, both last seen in 2017, were easily side STEPped…So with that said and done, let’s TROT over to our cartoon…

Today we find ourselves in the living room of JUANA and ROCK. Juana, dressed to the nines, is looking forward to TANGO DANCING the night away, but Rock is doing anything he can to SHIMMY out of it, and SIDESTEP  the idea by giving her some JIVE excuses…I say, “What a CON. GA on, Rock…dance with the woman! Claiming you’ve got work to do and puzzles to catch up on? What a HUSTLE! I can’t even BEGUINE to FIGURE you out…” Oh, it just makes me want to STOMP my foot…But what’s the POINTE? It doesn’t look like we’re going to get Rock to MOVE off that chair…Because no matter how we TWIST it, I doubt we’re going to get past his…”AVOID-DANCE“! Well what do you know, FOLKs! David’s given us another PAS..O, he’s good!

Ok, eye candy…Within a Blue shaded panel, we see Juana decked out in a Cranberry colored dress, fringed in Black at the hem…Her shoes are Black spikes, sexily laced up at the ankles. She’s wearing 2 Bangles on each of her wrists, and BALL-shaped hanging earrings…Perfect jewelry, not an overabunDANCE…Her hair is styled high upon her head, in two buns. I wonder if a low PONY tail may have worked better, though. But she looks beautiful, and you’d think she’d definitely SHAKE Rock up a little…Rock, on the other HAND…JIVE looking. Sitting clad in casual clothes, shoeless with black socks, we see him reading a newspaper. Featured on the page are a Jumble puzzle with a puppy, Jeffy from Family Circus, and a SQUARE shaped cartoon that I can’t identify. If anyone can make it out, please let me know. Except for Rock’s Brown easy chair, and matching side table with a Gold-shaded reading lamp, there’s no other furniture showing…So what will the eye candy be? I have to go with Juana’s SHOES…They’re just so on POINTE! So, There you have it, Folks, Done. Have great day, Everyone…and remember…Never stop DANCING…It’s so good for our SOLES…💃🏻🙋🏻

** I just realized that the Email sent out this morning had the letters VDN listed as being taken from VIDEO. It should have read the letters VD only. I apologize if the typo caused any confusion. Thank you.🙋🏻

  1. Protesters were SCARCE around the ancient PAGODA after the government broadcast a VIDEO to UNIFY the people for a national holiday.
No difficulty with the scrambled words and after isolating DANCE from the circled letters, the pun came instantly to mind—clever.
I don’t recall this Donna Summer song Angela, but it’s a lyrical winner. I thought of “Shall We Dance” but that’s more of a waltz, right? But given the two characters in the cartoon, maybe not too far-fetched.
Great poem and I liked your post filled with so many fashion points. I went to another website to see the colours and her dress certainly stood out. I guess Rock, as you called him, just could not get that bulk out of his easy chair and used puzzles as his excuse.

    • Good Morning, Earl…Shall We Dance? The King and I? Yes a waltz,..but also kind of a bit formal for what we have here today, don’t you think? ..The Donna Summer? Thank you, and I’m sure you’re going to recognize it once you hear it…It was a major hit of hers. I’m with you on today’s words, but my friends started group-texting at 3:30, TWISTing the letters of those 2 words around..I just listen, and let them figure it out! 😂 The fashion today…gorgeous! In fact, I was very impressed, since I have almost the exact dress…except mine is a dark green, and the fringe is longer..💃🏻.It’s definitely a DANCING dress…But her shoes? To die for! Those I have many pairs of, in many colors. So definitely, today’s fashion is a 10! And that’s why I dubbed her Juana! She just JUANA dance! 😂 But as for Rock? You know I noticed the paunch, Earl. But maybe we’ve been wrong to body shame these guys. Although we do seem to see a lot of of them in the cartoons. Why? IDK! Thanks for the Shout Outs, and your sentence today is right on point👏🏻👏🏻Seems like all we have lately are protests of some sort. The whole social climate is out of whack, and I so wish things were different… …Have a great day, Earl..Stay dry! 💃🏻🙋🏻

      • The male paunch used to be a sign of wealth and position, much like the Reubensque female figure. Now? Indicates something else. If a little body shaming would get men moving? Something lost something gained 🚴‍♂️🏸🏐🏉🏌️‍♂️🏊‍♀️

        • Yes, Earl, I’ve heard that said. One was prosperous enough to eat very well…I just think that even though we’re joking here, and the characters are all fictional as a rule, it still might hit a nerve by making weight comments. But it’s Jeff who seems to be partial to the paunch.. 😉 for whatever reason. Anyway, I’m neutral for the most part…And I’m trying to find the right words to say what I’m thinking…only they’re not coming to me! 😉 So I’m just going to keep my “thoughts” to myself! 😉😉And that required 2 winks! Looks like rain all day for us down here…Better today than Sunday, with the race planned..🙋🏻.

  2. Video was my hardest word, which is embarrassing, since unlike CAVIAR, it’s a word I use all the time. When I finally got VIDEO, the resulting string of answer letters looked so weird that I didn’t think I’d be able to solve. But then I saw DANCE, and the rest fell in. I wonder if Jeff is trying to tell us puzzle solvers something with the paunch on Rock. All this talk of “Last Dance” makes me think of “Dance With Me” by Orleans.

    • Hi Mike…Good Morning! Where’ve you been? Good to see you. I hope the water situation’s righted itself…I totally get it…not only are the 5-letter words sometimes harder than the 6, but quite often it’s a case of the forest for the tress…Look at the Early Birds this morning…I mean Endive? Guaranteed this guy has never eaten Endive in his life.😂 and yet here he is at 3:30 coming at me with Endive! Who knows what the eye sees? But yes, Dance LEAPT off the page, and the rest was strongly hinted at in the dialogue by Juana specifying “finally”. I meant to put that in my write-up, but I SLIPped up and forgot..And the paunch? Again, as I just told Earl, I don’t let it WEIGH on me…I’m sure Jeff’s not just WAISTing his time by drawing these guys as such…There must be a reason…As for the DANCE music? There’s a gazillion songs out there with DANCE in the lyrics, and I’ve always liked the soft, easy sound of Orleans.. It’s a good one..but somehow the lyrics to 🎶Last Dance 🎶 just seemed to fit what I felt Juana might be thinking…And that’s what promoted my..”Last TANGO in Marriage”! 😂😂 Hope you have a good one, Mike..Don’t be a stranger…💃🏻🙋🏻

      • Angela:
Yes, we’re drinking the water once again in Austin, Texas. The boil notice was lifted at 3 p.m. Sunday. The mayor, city manager,, and water manager all appeared on camera lifting their glasses. 😜
Where are these Early Birds that you keep talking about? They don’t appear on this page, do they?

        • LOL…Mike, you read my mind! I swear I was thinking…So who Guinea pigs this water? I think I’d still be a little gun shy! That’s too funny with them going on TV…But did you see them actually run the tap? You can never be too sure! 😂😂 No, I’m sorry, I thought you knew. The Early Birds are personal friends of mine…They don’t post, they all just manage to FLY under the radar, and enjoy pecking at me early in the morning…We’re all old friends from around the country…Chicago, Vegas, Florida, Indiana, No Carolina, and my other friends here in NY. A motley crew, whose wit and word prowess sometimes humbles me…but who for the most part just succeed in ruffling my feathers while I’m trying to write! 😂😂 🙋🏻

  3. Good morning. Angela, another solid hit with your song choice. There are certain songs that can not be improved by another singer and this is one of them. This song comes to mind when her name is brought up. Another overall great post. Earl, you never cease to amaze me how you fit those words so easily into a sentence every day. Today’s jumble was for me a little hard. The five letter words took some time with Scarce being the hardest. The cartoon answer was solved once I noticed Dance. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. It looks like the guys were right this morning…Between you and Mike, you’re giving me VIDEO and SCARCE, just as they did…Thanks for the Shout Outs, and I agree..Donna Summer truly owns that piece of music…I’m glad you enjoyed it…It is kind of enDANCEing! Have a good one, Brooklyn. I’m not sure how you’re doing there, but we’ve had rain since last night…It’s ok tho..beats the snow! 💃🏻🙋🏻

        • Hey Brooklyn..You did a lot better than us. Rain and gloomy all day, with heavy winds. Supposed to be a storm on the way…Hope your night goes well…🙋🏻

    • Good Morning, Chuck. The guy didn’t want to dance with his wife, so he came up with a ton of excuses. From the wife’s comment, it wasn’t the first time either, since she used the word “finally”. She would ask, and he’d “AVOID” her questions regarding DANCEing! So, she couldn’t get past his “AVOID-DANCE”… Also, see below…I hope this helps…Have a good one, Chuck! 💃🏻🙋🏻

      a·void·ance
      /əˈvoidəns/Submit
      noun
1.the action of keeping away from or not doing something.
“one third of cancer deaths could be prevented by avoidance of smoking”

    • You’re very welcome, Chuck, anytime. But it’s not a term/phrase, merely a word. David made it appear to be a phrase, in order to get the pun in…Here’s some example sentences I’ve come across…I threw the last one in just to SHAKE things up a little! I read it 3x’s and I’m still scratching my head! 😂😂 Try DANCING to that tune! Have a great day, Chuck! 💃🏻🙋🏻

1- You are very skilled at avoidance, you know.
2- In marriage, no avoidance of similarity of name is required.
3- The whole enterprise fell through, owing partly to the death of Koniecpolski before it was matured, partly to the hastiness with which the king published his intentions, and partly to the careful avoidance by the Porte of the slightest occasion of a rupture.

  4. Final solution was obvious, but I had to back into scarce. Another weekend ahead with our 4 year old grandkid twins, Kate and Jane, in Dixon. The other Chuck.

    • Good Morning, Professor! And how do you know that he’s not the other Chuck?😉 I, personally don’t chuck around with the Chucks…😂 Anyway, another notch for SCARCE. Slowly becoming the front runner…it may end up the SWING vote today…And yes, the solve was pretty obvious, once you got DANCE out of the SWAY…Enjoy the kids, Prof. See you tomorrow! 💃🏻🙋🏻

  5. Hi all – I first saw OVIDE, something to do with eggs, or maybe a Latin poet, but VIDEO then jumped out. Got SCARCE quickly only because two tricks worked – separate the double C’s, and try SC whenever I see them.
For the answer I thought RELUC-DANCE or RESIS-DANCE, but writing the letters gave the correct one.

I know I swore off fashion commentary, but did she use the same scissors (pinking shears?) on both her dress hem and the lampshade?

“Dance like nobody’s watching”? Believe me, if I dance, nobody *is* watching; they’re rushing away in horror.

Instead of DANCE, it was AVOID that recalled a song for me:
    🎵”Sometimes I think that you’re avoiding me
I’m ok alone, but you got something I need
Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key“🎵

    Have a great day!

Mike M. – Your song reminded me of the Beach Boys great cover of Bobby Freeman’s “Do you want to dance?”. Also covered by Bette Midler later.
I also wanted to say what a good choice yours was of “Somebody to Love” as an example of great singing.

    • Hey G..It’s been a while since we heard from Melanie. Nice..👏🏻 . But Fashion? ❌! 😉 Have a good one, Bud! 💃🏻🙋🏻

  6. I needed pen and paper to get SCARCE and VIDEO, and avoid was the first word of the answer I got.
Angela, got a big kick out of Juana Dance and pointe. Tough words for Earl, but he nailed them.

    • Hi Caroline..It’s amazing that the same two words are everyone’s picks for the day. But I think you may be the only one who went with Avoid first…So you’re our winner! Originality rules! 😉 And thanks…Juana just broke my heart this morning…All dressed up and nowhere to go..and all she wanted was to “kick” up her heels! 😉 Hope you’re having a great day, Caroline! 💃🏻🙋🏻

      • Thanks, but dance should have been obvious to me. I tend to focus on unusual letters, which led me to focus on the v. I didn’t think the other two clue words were easy either, but I was able to solve them without writing anything down.

        • Caroline..So sorry, I seem to have missed this last night. There’s so much mail… But, either way? The polls were closed, and the judges word stands! 😂 You’re still our winner.🏆 I think coming up with Avoid first showed an exceptional eye! 👏🏻👏🏻🙋🏻
