CARTOON ANSWER:  SHE WASN’T SURE SHE WAS GOING ALL THE WAY IN THE WATER AND HAD A – – –

ITA   SDE   TWD   UNE   IAT   AE  = “WADE IN SEA” ATTITUDE

Good Morning, Everyone!      🏊🏻 WHERE THERE’S A WILL, THERE’S A WADE 🏊🏻

🎶 Somewhere…BEYOND THE SEA…Somewhere waiting for me…My lover stands on golden sands…And watches the ships that go sailin’…We’ll meet (I know we’ll meet) beyond the shore, we’ll kiss just as before. Happy we’ll be BEYOND THE SEA…And never again I’ll go sailing…No more sailing. So long sailing…So long, farewell…Bye-Bye sailing…🎶 “Beyond The Sea” – Bobby Darin 1960

🏊🏻 Water, water, everywhere…it rises up real SUDDEN,
You enter quite precariously, you’re not one for the floodin’
As if you were an INFANT, your thoughts slowly ACCRUE,
“Should I just plunge into the deep…or carefully make my due”?
The signs, some in ITALIC, show warnings of high waves…
You never were real keen on this…you never were that brave.
You move TOWARD the deeper end, but all the while you think…
“They’ll have me on a GURNEY if I mess up and I sink…”
You know you may look foolish, and you really hate to brood…
But better safe than sorry… A “WADE IN SEA” ATTITUDE 🏊🏻

So, today’s words…I can’t help thinking…SEA what happens when you go around looking for the challenge? You find the challenge. But…you may not feel that kindly TOWARDs it! Our words today have certainly made a SPLASH! Despite them all being Sweet Repeats, they made WAVES according to most of the Early Morning Jumblers…And as it stands now, ACCRUE has ACCUMULATED the most votes, with GURNEY a close second. And the real STRETCHER? ITALIC hasn’t been seen since way back on February 18th, 2015, but no one’s WRITTEN in about that one yet…So, how’d you Folks fare today? Sink or SWIM? Let us know…

Now…our cartoon. We’re out at SEA, and we have a woman, hesitantly TESTING the WATERS. The man she’s with is calling out to her to “Hurry up, the WATER’S fine”. But she’s answering that she wants to feel warmer…Giving him a little COLD Shoulder, so to speak… My first glance gave me “Wait in SEA Reaction“. Correct number of letters, and I saw an “R” in both TOWARD, and GURNEY…So I figured, Ok, SHORE, I’m good… But then I thought, it’s really not much of a pun, is it? And why’s the quotation mark preceding the Wait? Of COURSE, then I was like..”WATER you kidding me? She’s WADING…” Now that’s a pun…But then, when I went over to our words, and saw that there was no “R“…I now thought…“R” you kidding me”? (Yes, there was a lot of that FLOATING around this morning)! …So I RODE out our letters…and those “T”s just fit like a T! …”WADE IN SEA” ATTITUDE! WATER you know?…”Just when you thought it was safe to go back in…” 😉 (Sorry, I just couldn’t resist…A little SWIMMING Trivia…I hope you’ll WADE in and let me know if you get it)…Anyway, Bravo, David. From what I’m hearing so far, this one definitely went OVER a few HEADS this morning! Great pun!

Ok, eye candy…Beautiful clear Turquoise water…Reminds me of being in the Bahamas…Puffy white cloud, wafting over a white mountainous area. Pretty Blue sky. Woman, WADING...A little SEASHELL showing on the sand in front of her, surrounded by tiny shards… Man, SWIMMING…A little girl can be seen along side him, FLOATING in shallower water. Out in the deep end…Jeff’s Sinking Sailboat can be seen…Boy, that Boat SHORE has stamina…But the item causing the biggest SPLASH for me this morning? Way over to the right? Just at the SHORELINE? Four men, playing SPIKEBALL! Just like last Sunday…Is this now the WAVE of the future? So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone!…And I hope you’ll BITE at my little Trivia reference…🏊🏻🙋🏻

  1. My paper had a totally different puzzle this morning and it was a repeat of one we had two weeks ago. The Clue words were: hyphen, ensign, cloudy, gerbil, warmth & marred. The Cartoon said “He wanted to go to the mountains. She wanted to go to the beach so they… Searched High and Low”. I thought it was all coming together pretty easily for a Sunday morning. Happy day everyone.

  2. Unfortunately I did look at your post figuring that you probably had the same experience as I did, obviously not. Maybe Steve will think to check online first and avoid my error. Oh well at least I recognized al the words and the cartoon solution so that’s a plus. No harm done.

    • Hi Betty – I was telling Angela, I always do the Jumble from the East Bay Times on Sunday since it’s bigger, the Chronicle’s isn’t in color then anyway, and they printed the correct one! And I always do the Jumble before reading any of these posts or comments. Hope the Jets aren’t too loud today!

    • Oh, Betty, I’m sorry…It’s such a good one today too…If it ever happens again, just post and tell us, and one of us will send you the link…I did give Steve a heads up, but he was already aware of it…Can’t fool that wild and crazy guy! 😂😉 Well, sorry again..Hope the rest of the day is smooth sailing! 🙋🏻

  3. Accrue was also the toughest for me because I remembered my past struggle with gurney. My first attempt at the answer failed. I tried again a few hours later and thought of wait and wade, which led me to the very clever answer. At Barnes and Noble bookstore this morning, my husband ran into a man looking for a Jumble puzzle book, but I don’t think he found one.

    • Hi Caroline…Accrue is definitely leading the pack today, so you’re in good company…I really think the WADE is brilliant..I can’t remember the last time a pun gave me such a LOL..Really good puzzle all around today…And so cool that you came back to conquer it!…That poor guy..not finding a Jumble book. And they usually have such a large selection of puzzle books…Hopefully he mentioned it to them.. that sometimes spurs them into placing orders…Wishing you a great day, Caroline..Enjoy! 🏊🏻🙋🏻

  4. Hi all – The words were no problem. The IC trick worked for ITALIC and the double letter trick worked for SUDDEN, INFANT and ACCRUE. GURNEY took a second look, and I’m sure it would have taken much longer if I hadn’t spent so much time working in and hanging around hospitals.
The answer was a different story – stared at it for 15 minutes and gave up.
I was *sure* the last word would be DECISION. When the letters weren’t there, uh-oh, back to square one. The letters didn’t support any of my guesses – no ‘R’ for Sink or Swim, Make or Break, Do or Die, Test of Her, couldn’t even use WATER. A good and fun Sunday challenge.

Actually, my first reaction to the cartoon was, “Hey Buddy, she just said it was too cold for her, so listen to her and quit telling her it’s fine!” I can relate, because I’m one of those “wade in slowly” wimps, from swimming in the New England waters, and out here it’s even colder!

    Have a great day, everyone!

Angela, you’re “going to need a bigger” trivia reference than that to slip past us.
And I love the Bobby Darin song (he was always a big band singer trapped in a rock n roll era), but I thought you might use this:
🎵”And now the poor little girl’s turning blue.
Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore!
It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka-dot bikini.
That she wore for the first time today.”🎵

    • LOL..So I’m sitting here thinking..Does he know the difference between a Bikini and a One-piece? 🤔 It’s a BIG difference! 😂 Funny that your first reaction was DECISION, and mine was REACTION.. I love seeing the different ways we all see things. (You know like Bathing Suits)! 😉 And as for the little Trvia reference…I knew you’d get ..JAW always on top of things! 😂 Have a good one, G…🏊🏻🙋🏻

      • It was the fact that they were both cold that brought the song to mind. The suits were irrelevant. (Interesting, but irrelevant. 😂🙋🏻‍♂️)

      • 👏🏻 …Ah..I see. That helps.😉 …But trust me, once you go Bikini…😉 ..Have a good one, G! 🙋🏻

  5. The GURNEY carrying the INFANT bassinets with ITALIC lettering was headed TOWARD the elevator when a SUDDEN stop meant that the inventory would not ACCRUE to the target that day.
My difficulty today was GURNEY—could not get beyond GUNNERY for some reason—the others came quite easily. The solution was another matter. Took quite a while to get “wade” for the first word but then the rest flowed naturally, like the tide.
Great song choice Angela. Very appropriate for the cartoon and for this “oldies afficianado.”
Being a beach lover I loved the cartoon and your poetry and puns—would have enjoyed them even more on the PUN-toon boat the family used to own.
I wanted to post earlier but when I tried to do that using my iPad in a public place, the dratted WiFi kept cutting out when I had 3/4 finished. After four attempts and mighty cursing, I gave up and waited until now.
Salubrious Sunday y’all. (That’s a tip of the hat to our southern Jumble lovers. not a natural for me!

    • Hi Earl..How’re you doing? GURNEY..today’s runner up. But I can’t help thinking of the irony here….You volunteer at the Hospital…isn’t it always😉 the way? Great work with today’s words..They were a bit of a challenge…And I especially appreciate the puns you’ve sprinkled throughout your post. 👏🏻 Thanks for the Shout Outs, it was a fun puzzle. And I’m glad you’ve made it here today. It’s becoming second nature to see you every morning..Hope you’re enjoying the rest of the day…And salubrious, indeed! .🏊🏻🙋🏻

  6. Good evening. I just didn’t bomb out, I kamikaze’d out. Angela, now you’re in my wheel house with your great song choice. You hit the high note on all aspects of your post. Terrific all around. I had a devil of a time with Italic, Gurney and Accrue. The first two I thought were something else and the last word I had reversed the r and u. The cartoon answer eluded me as well. If you get points for signing in and then getting half the words, put me down. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • LOL..Kamikazed? Suicidal? That bad? 😂 It was a toughie, Brooklyn…And of course you can have points for whatever you’d like…Good enough just to see you here…Thanks for the Shout Outs. it was fun…Hope your day went SWIMMINGLY!, Bud! 🏊🏻🙋🏻

    • Hi Clay, How’re you doing? I use the link here. My paper prints in color all 7 days, and I love that, but of course it’s only a 2 inch panel. This link’s colors are exact. Only drawback here is that when enlarging this site’s panel, it can distort details. Which is why I go back and forth between this and the Post Star (Even though my paper gets here at 4:30, there’s no way I’d catch all the tiny “eye candy”). But, using an iPad, I tap on this, and it does open up larger, and then I can pinch and spread it more. You may not get the clear minute details that you do with the Post Star, but as far as color goes, you can’t top this. Give it a try, and let me know what you think…Hope you’re enjoying your evening…🙋🏻
