Good Morning, Everyone!                     🇬🇧 EN GUARD? 🇬🇧

🎶 Come gather ’round people wherever you roam, And admit that the waters around you have grown…And accept it that soon you’ll be drenched to the bone….If your time to you is worth savin’, Then you better start swimmin’…Or you’ll sink like a stone…For the times they are A-CHANGIN‘…🎶  “The Times They Are A-Changin'” – Bob Dylan   1964

🇬🇧 We’re back to Britain once again, for tourists it UNFOLDs
A visit to the Palace where some History beholds.
We stand out near the GUTTER, where decorum is expected,
The cameras at the ready, a trained MONKEY-like directed…
All for the Queen this pageantry, her HEALTH forever praised,
It’s not the place for ORNERY ones a dust-up to be staged…
Though years go by and olden ways SECEDE…it’s elementary…
Traditions do remain for some since the TURN OF THE “SENTRY”! 🇬🇧

No word today is new to us, they’re all a Sweet Repeat,
The anagram of GUTTER prints exactly to T…
Considering it’s Sunday, nothing really slowed me down,
So MARCHING on to our cartoon..once more about the Crown!
Our oldest word shows as SECEDE, from 2015 came,
UNFOLD is the most recent last December found its fame…
Ok, enough let’s GUARD against this taking too much time..
I’ve spent enough deciding to do this part in Rhyme!

Today once again, we find ourselves in Jolly Old England, for the fifth time in recent Jumble HISTORY. We’ve visited in May, August and September of last year, and as recently as last month, on July 8th. What is this fascination with LONDON? What BRIDGES the gap so easily that we continue returning here so often? Beats me…But today, once again…BUCKINGHAM PALACE, where we found ourselves back on May 24th. That day, our tourists were fit to be TIMED, because they were running late, and wouldn’t be able to visit Big Ben. Today, though they seem relaxed and in the presence of a private guide of some sort. I say that because they’re not standing a Zillion deep with the masses…And it does get crowded by the time the CEREMONY starts each day at 11AM. He’s telling them that the traditional CHANGING OF THE GUARD, the ceremony in which one group of SENTRIES in TURN replaces another, has been going on for CENTURIES…Hmm…Can you see where I’m going with this? So, with our dialogue telling us..”Hundreds of years” and “Wow. That long“?…we can deduce that it’s been going on since before the…TURN OF THE “SENTRIES” BLIMEY! Is this a pun or what? Great one today, David! ROYALLY funny!

Ok, eye candy…The entire panel is bathed in pink, the only color being our three figures…I have no idea why…PALACE Gates, and posts…nice depiction of the ROYAL CRESTS…The crowd, silhouetted in black, has one person raising an phone or a tablet to either take a picture or a video…The “guide” has the classic look of a European gentleman..His jacket has elbow patches! How SUEDE is that? And the woman’s tablet is showing a depiction of the marching GUARDS: A MINUTE ABSOLUTE! …Great detail, Jeff. But I’m going to go with what I see on the woman’s WAIST…It’s a FANNY PACK, if I’m not mistaken…And how trendy! They’re making a resurgence, you know…FANNY thing about them, though? I’ve heard so many people say that they saved theirs …Only thing is? They don’t fit anymore!!! Talk about…”Wow. That long”!! ….So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And to all our Anglophiles out there…CHEERIO! 🇬🇧🙋🏻

  1. I was trying the puzzle online and skipped unscrambling secede but was missing the e’s so when I went back to find an e for the,I saw the error in my ways, unscrambled secede, and was able to solve the puzzle,as I had found my missing e.My birthday was fine yesterday, but my Cleve Indians were done in by the lowly Orioles, and Alex Cobb, who was a terrible 3-15 going into the game.Ironically,we had seen him beat Cleve in a 1 game wild card playoff game in 2013 to eliminate the Indians from theplayoffs that year.As soon as I saw he was the starter yesterday,I recalled that 2013 game, and said uh oh despite his awful 2018 season.

    • Hey, Prof…Good Morning…Uh oh is right. Tough loss. Especially as you say, at the hands of Cobb. I hope it didn’t put a damper on your celebrating…SECEDE did look menacing at first glance, all those E’s…but unfortunately when I searched back for it, there weren’t any postings that day, so I couldn’t see if it stumped anyone last time out…We’ll see what happens today…Kudos on the solve! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and safe trip home…Ciao! 🇬🇧🙋🏻

  2. Good morning. I’ll try to get back later as I’m about to head out the door. Only was stuck on the fifth word. I gave up and looked for the answer which was Ornery. The cartoon answer was a blind solve. After checking, there was an s instead of a c. The solution was obvious. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn I found the answer obvious also, and we discussed ORNERY the last two tiimes it showed up…not an everyday word. So, no sweat…Enjoy the day! 🇬🇧🙋🏻

  3. Clever puzzle and easy solve this morning. So now I can read the rest of the news. Happy Sunday everyone!

    • Good Morning, Betty.Yes it was..easy, breezy, cute, clever…and fun! Too bad the rest of the news doesn’t follow suit…Have a good one! 🇬🇧🙋🏻

  4. Hi all – Got GUTTER with the double letter trick. Then ORNERY took an extra look but seemed recent, and SECEDE took the longest. Wrote the letters, crossed out OF THE, put ‘Y’ at the end, and the answer appeared. It also showed I had spelled SECEDE wrong, but no matter.

🎵”Everything’s happening At the Turn Of The Century.
I’m gonna buy myself a time machine, go to the Turn Of The Century.
And all those people passing by
And the town crier makes his cry
At the Turn Of The Century, Turn Of The Century.”🎵(Bee Gees)

Ah, the turn of the century, Netscape web browsers, CRT monitors, songs by Prince, the Y2K bug — Oh, you mean that *other* century! I could believe (unlike our history-challenged easily-amazed dude) that the changing of the guard has been going on since that other Millennium. Looking it up, only since around the 1660’s.

Have a great day all. (Does this fanny pack make my butt look big? It must have shrunk.)

    • …And yet you had no trouble with them last time out..Hmm. What can this mean??? 😂 Have a good one, G! 🇬🇧🙋🏻

      • Probably that I’m not learning from experience! 😂 It does keep things fresh everytime. 😂 Have a good one. 🙋🏻‍♂️
