CARTOON ANSWER:   EVERYONE WATCHED HIM PULL IN THE FISH – – –

IM   LE   IEN   RET   =  IN “REEL” TIME

🎶 I don’t like you, but I love you…Seems that I’m always thinkin’ of you, Oh, oh, oh, you treat me badly, I love you madly…You’ve REELY got a hold on me…You REELY got a hold on me…You REELY got a hold on me…You REELY got a hold on me…Baby, I don’t want you, but I need you…Don’t wanna kiss you, but I need to…Oh, oh, oh…You do me wrong now, my love is strong now…You’ve REELY got a hold on me….🎶 “You’ve Really Got a Hold On Me” – Smokey Robinson and The Miracles – 1962

🎣 There’s nothing like some time away, to LEAVE it all behind,
To grab a drink, a rod and reel…and go after that find.
The INTENT being to relax, not SKIMP on being chill…
FORGET the hassles of the day, just go out, get your fill.
And hooking up a big one?…Nothing could be more sublime…
So capture it, get bragging rights. Do it all...IN “REEL” TIME, 🎣

Good Morning, Everyone!            🎣 Live STREAMING? REELY? 🎣

🎶Summertime…And the livin’ is easy...🎶..And easy, breezy were our words this morning…All Sweet Repeats, they seemed to fit the mood of today’s cartoon just perfectly…Let’s SEA.. Out on the Ocean, today Jeff has us REELY enjoying our Summer. Showing us a FISHERMAN, sitting barefoot, a SAILFISH on his line, it looks like he may be somewhere in Hawaii…He’s accompanied by a friend, who’s capturing it all on his tablet, while LIVE STREAMING to  FACEBOOK...It’s all there for us, Folks, right in the dialogue…So, the solution to our question…Everyone watched him pull in the FISH...IN “REEL” TIME! Good one, David! You REELY pulled off another winner!

Ok, eye candy…The FISHERMAN’S wearing cool yellow shades…And there’s a tiny bead of sweat by his ear…The FISH splashing as he pulls on the line is a nice touch…Two Palm Trees sway, way off in the distance…But the CATCH of the day? If you look REEL closely, on the iPad, you’ll see the perfectly drawn image of the FISH. And that’s no FISH STORY! So, There you have it, Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And always remember…Anybody can CAST a LINE..but it’s the FINish that counts! 🎣🙋🏻

  1. It was never his INTENT to SKIMP, but he did FORGET to LEAVE the major valve open, as instructed by the gas company.
Agree Angela that today’s words were fairly easily unscrambled. I thought the solution might cause some problems with those quotation marks, but the answer came easily with all the bait in the cartoon.
Like Smokey Robinson and the song you referenced this morning is FINE—thanks for highlighting it today.
Your poem presents a possible past experience with a parent?? :Pretty picture.
    Puns? REELY REELY relevant, right?
Have a good Friday everyone. If you are on the east coast, I hope you are not in danger of flooding or sever storms.

    • Good morning, Earl. Love your sentence, as always. I see you agree with me that the cartoon was great BAIT! Good one! It was a really a gift today, and everyone who DROPPED me a LINE this morning said so too…Smokey…That voice was always as calm as the waters we’re out on…Happy you enjoyed it. Thanks for the Shout Out, but your Poem Nom has me a little AT SEA. I’m thinking you went with parent to enrich the alliteration? TBT, the only time I remember being “on board” with my Parents was when I saw them off on the cruise to Bermuda that I gifted them for their 25th Anniversary. Beautiful memory, but that was the extent of it…In my mind, the FISHERMAN is me! But since I started getting calls early this morning from friends in Virginia, and Queens…it kind of put a serious damper on things. I wasn’t in a PUNNY mood at all…So much damage is being done. So I pretty much phoned it in…I hope you have a great day too, Earl. Be well… 🎣🙋🏻

      • Hey Steve—thanks for the link—I don’t often go to YouTube but this was worth it.
Memories are made of this, right???
        Have a great day.

      • Angela–I went with “parent” because of the alliteration but also thinking perhaps a papa may have taken you fishing—just casting around for a possible hook.

        • “Casting” around for a possibly “hook”! 👏🏻👏🏻 Kudos! No, He left me an OCEAN’S worth of valuables, but the art of FISHING wasn’t one of them…😉🙋🏻

    • Glad you enjoyed the link Earl. My favorite part was when he said he could assure the audience that the demo had worked in multiple rehearsals because he had ‘been standing in water for about six hours.’ 😂. Ah, live TV!

  2. Good morning. Angela, great choice on the song. You had me talking to you like you were right here. Terrific poem and use of the words. Unlike the Yankees and Mets you scored a win. Thanks Earl,I always look forward to see how you put the words in a sentence. You never fail us. I don’t know about you guys but I felt that we were in kindergarten with such easy words. I felt like this one was for dummies 101. Even the cartoon answer was an almost blind solve. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. I’m ON BOARD with you,…today’s puzzle was truly a gift. Thanks for the Shouts Outs..it was all very easy to work with. I’m glad you like the song, I love it too, and I still listen to Smokey a lot. As for talking to me? Feel free, Bud, anytime, any where! 😉 I so enjoy speaking with you! But I’m not going to touch our Baseball teams, I’m feeling down enough this morning…Let sleeping dogs lie! Have a great one, Brooklyn. I’m figuring allergy suffering’s all gone?🎣🙋🏻

      • Basically it’s gone. Still have a little cough but at least I’m not aching or tired anymore. Just have one more pill left to take. But now I’m staying with Claritin-D everyday. Hope you rebounded as well.

        • Hey Brooklyn. The cough may never go away until Fall! It’s the pollen. I stay with the Claritin-D too, and I’m coping, but depending on how much I’m around the trees and the grass determines how my throat feels….At least you’re rounding home! Hang in there, Bud! Be well! 😘🙋🏻

  3. Morning, all –
Angela, I got a big kick out of your song choice and all the reelys. Earl, your sentences seem to pack more and more meaning. This one had me worried.
Leave was the only word that gave me a little trouble. Aleve came to mind but I realized I was thinking of the drug by that name and the word alleviate.
Lelia, congratulations to you and Jerry a little late on your anniversary. 58 years, wow.

    • Good Morning, Caroline I could use some of that Aleve this morning! And it would have worked, too..but as far as I know, David never uses proper names. Thanks for the Shout Out, and I REELY had no choice with the song…It had a HOLD on me as soon as I saw the cartoon! Hope you have a great day! 🎣🙋🏻

  4. I guess there was no sinking ship in the background because it would have looked pretty callous of the men to be too busy recording their catch to actually help!

    • Keen observation, Clay! Good morning. I looked for it myself,..And you may be right…But have you ever taken notice of some of the things that go viral on Facebook? Not everyone has your kind sensibilities…I SMH at least 10 x’s a day at the insensitivity of human nature! 🙄🙋🏻

  5. Okay, Caroline, count me in with the Aleve crowd. That was the first word that came to mind when I saw those letters but of course it didn’t work with the cartoon answer, and Angela is correct that proper names are not used. All in all it was not a difficult solution today. Happy Friday everyone.

    • We all went the headache route, huh? 😂 Good Morning, Betty. And, yes, as you and everyone seems to be feeling, it wasn’t a difficult OUTING…Betty, have you tried the new App? I’ve never been a fan of Word Search, in fact this was my initial attempt. (I even wrote that in my review)… But I gave it a shot, and it’s Interesting. It takes a bit of a different slant. Just passing it along..You know..WORD of mouth! 😂 Happy Friday to you too, Betty! Enjoy! 🎣🙋🏻

  6. Yes, Angela I did download the Word Search app It’s okay but I’m really not crazy about it. I tried the Just Two Words app and really didn’t like that one at all. Guess I’m just a Jumbler at heart. I’m waiting for the update on that one. Word of mouth, indeed, I like that one and it’s better than foot in mouth. Have a good weekend.

    • Oh, I’m with you there, it’s no Jumble, which will always be my first ❤️ true love…Maybe because the Searching is new to me. Just Two Words? There’s been weeping and the gnashing of teeth! That one’s a killer. SMH! Some of the answers have kept me up at night! 😂😂 Word Stampede has caused its share of grief also…Foot in mouth?…Been there, done FLAT! 😉 In fact, I’ve become so good at it that I’ve been asked how I still manage to walk upright! I tell them it’s practice! 😂 Every knock’s a boost, I always say! 😂 Have a good one, Betty! 🙋🏻

  7. Hi all – LEAVE took an extra look. Then I thought LINE would be in the answer, but before I could write down the letters, the answer occurred to me.

Since they mentioned it, I guess I’ll repeat a joke I heard in the Chronicle – Due to the drop in stock prices of Facebook and Twitter, they have decided to merge with Google’s YouTube at a new site called “YouTwitFace”.

Angela, when I think of that song, the one that comes to my mind is The Beatles’ cover version.

Hope you all enjoy your Friday.

Lelia – Something tells me that yesterday was not as calm and peaceful for you as we had hoped. The Giants are playing in Phoenix. They showed a view of a palm tree through a window from inside the stadium, and the rain and wind looked like a scene from a hurricane in Miami! Hope you made it through undamaged.

    • Hi, Steve! We had no damage this time because the worst of the storm was west of us, but we did have a lot of wind, dust, thunder, lightening, and more rain.
Out there about 8 to 10 miles west of us, the news showed a 50 foot palm tree that snapped in half in hurricane winds. A man out there, who had some damage, reported that the unoccupied house across the street from him was totally destroyed, looking as though a tornado had hit it. We’ll keep praying about safety from the California fires and the Arizona monsoons.

  8. Hi, all! Quick solve for me of words & cartoon answer, but the fishing theme brought back many favorite childhood memories. While fishing with my dad one day when I was about 8 years old, he placed my end of the small boat near the shore while he was out in the deeper water. I caught 5 fish & he caught none but learned why later when I heard him tell my mom that he placed my end of the boat over an underwater tree limb where he knew that blue gill were feeding.
To keep from being bored when we visited my parents, Jerry began taking our first-born fishing when she was only 3 years old in an irrigation canal near Yuma.

Caroline, thanks for your congratulations to Jerry & me on our 58th anniversary. I salute/toast you with my orange juice as I did with Paul after he raised his glass to me. I am going to write more thoughts about marriages in our family to Steve right now.

Steve, thank you for your wish that Jerry & I have a great anniversary, and we did. Jerry & I are the only ones in my immediate family that have not divorced. My grandmother, mother, sister, niece, and both of our daughters have divorced with 4 of the 6 divorces being caused by severe alcoholism. Jerry & I have both taken our turn at being a millstone or ball & chain but have always gotten over it and pulled through, thank the Lord. We used to joke & say we couldn’t afford a divorce, then we were too busy to divorce while working & raising kids, but then we quit trying to explain it and just went with it that it will always be Jerry & Ann.

Steve, I just read your comment to me about the storm, which I will answer in a few minutes after checking the facts with Jerry. Thank you for hoping we had no damage. Your hope came true because the worst of yesterday’s monsoon was about 8 miles west of us.
