VERPO – PROVE

THAWC – WATCH

NWORTH – THROWN

OLAFTA – AFLOAT

CARTOON ANSWER: WHEN THE ALIEN WALKED OFF HIS SPACESHIP, THE PEOPLE WATCHING SAID – – –

ROE   WH   THN   AAT   =  WHAT ON EARTH?

Good Morning, Everyone!      🚀👾 FLY BY FRIGHT? 👾🚀

🎶 EARTH Angel, EARTH angel…Will you be mine? My darling dear, Love you all the time…I’m just a fool, a fool in love with you…I fell for you, and I knew the vision of your loveliness…I hoped and I pray that someday, I’ll be the vision of your happiness oh, oh, oh, OH!…EARTH Angel, EARTH Angel,..The one I adore, Love you forever and ever more…I’m just a fool…A fool in love with you…🎶 “Earth Angel ( Will You Be Mine)” – The Penguins – 1954

🚀 There’s Science Fiction lovers who could WATCH this stuff all day
And swear that they could PROVE to us that Aliens are ok…
By us I mean the ones out here who’ve never been quite THROWN
By green monsters and spaceships…and whatever else is shown.
A ship from Space that stays AFLOAT and then comes down to see…
What goes on here and people actually will speak to he?
You want me to believe in this?…I’ll pass, for what it’s worth…
The Science Fiction’s not for me, for me it’s...WHAT ON EARTH? 🚀

With all of our words today being Sweet Repeats, I did find it a little ODD to see WATCH since it was just part of the July 3rd Jumble. Such a short TIME ago, right? But our other words are all late 2017 entries…OK, our cartoon: Today, Jeff brings us out to an open field, perhaps in Roswell, New Mexico. We see a SPACESHIP that has landed, and an ALIEN emerging, to the astonishment of a gathering crowd. The ALIEN, one-eyed, mustard-colored, and resembling an OCTOPUS, with his eight arms, seems friendly enough… but let’s face it, Folks, he’s still an ALIEN. He asks to be taken to an AQUARIUM, which I thought to be very ODD at first, until I realized that the inside of the SPACESHIP  has a watered floor, and there’s water trailing down through the opened door. WATER you know! A CRYING SAUCER! And despite it not being colored blue, Jeff’s drawn it in such a way as to have a rippled effect. Nice touch, Jeff. So, with the looks of total disbelief on the faces of our humans, and the SPACESHIP having landed ON EARTH, our solution to the question of what the people said? …WHAT ON EARTH?!  Good one, David! You ROCKET!

Ok, eye candy. The gentleman saying “WELCOME“, sporting a walrus type mustache, is dressed in some sort of uniform. Like the Government Agents in ET? Fringed epaulets and some medals can be seen. There’s a woman taking a picture with her phone, and a second gentleman who’s shown dropping his cup of coffee. Mouths agape are shown on all…And there’s a small dog, ditto on the gaping mouth…All nice details, but nothing EARTH Shattering…But then, in the background, are two more men. One, a runner, who’s staring and exclaiming “WHOA” at the sight and looks like he may go OFF TRACK, …and another who definitely should make the COMET books! Head down, totally SPACED OUT...He’s missing the whole thing! He’s texting on his phone!...And I had to laugh remembering how once upon a time…all we could do was “Phone Home“! So, There you have it, Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! I’m setting my PHASERS to PUN….and I’m OUTTA here…🚀👾🙋🏻

  1. To PROVE that the WATCH was waterproof, it was THROWN into the sea where it remained AFLOAT for days.
You went way back for your “earth” song, Angela, great digging and a great oldie.
The only word that slowed me down was AFLOAT– could not get beyond. “aloft”.
Amazing poem and your post was terrific. I was also open-mouthed at the expressions on all the characters’ faces
. Great cartoon and today I like the solution a lot, for what my opinion is worth.
Have a good day everyone and my commiserations to,all Mets fans– forgot to say that yesterday 😭 😤

    • Hey Earl, Good Morning! It’s like the words were just made for the sentence, right? Totally copacetic! Well done! Great song, isn’t it? And yes, I dug deep into my Father’s vault…(although we listen to it quite often, it’s on my playlist..and I enjoy dancing to it…) Plus, the key factor: immediately popped into my head! 😉 The exaggerated gaping mouths gave me a chuckle…but after all, it was an ALIEN! Thanks very much for the Shout Outs and as for the Mets? We took time out from the party last night, and held the funeral. With all due respect, we gave the Fat Lady the floor, I made the Sign of the Cross, and….It’s Over! Have a good one, Earl. Be well…🚀🙋🏻

  2. Special good morning to everybody. Yesterday’s trip to A/C was by far the best. Played joker poker again and this time hit on five tens for 1084 then, between wheel of fortune and lighting I added another 600. The only slot machine I lost some money on was flaming sevens. All toll I went home with 1500 plus to the good. I made sure I stayed away from “let it ride”card game where three of my friends all lost heavy. Great song choice Angela, that is one of my first records I bought Top three I think. Your poem and post was top notch as well as the usual and steady Earl. No problem with the words. My choice for the hardest would be thrown. The cartoon answer took a little time to get. All and all a great outcome. If I read the post right yesterday it should be a Happy Anniversary for Lelia.and Groom. Have a great day. Last week I went to a 60th Anniversary. That was a fantastic day all around with family and friends that you haven’t seen for years. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn! Well, excuse me, Hot Shot! You didn’t take any prisoners, did you? 👏🏻👏🏻 Congrats! Well played! Would you believe I’ve never played a slot machine in my life? Truth…I gamble, but I never played the slots…Go figure! Thanks for the Shouts Outs, Bud, much appreciated….So now we put up one for AFLOAT, and one for THROWN…Let’s see how the day progresses..Have a good one, Brooklyn, I’m glad to hear you sounding like your old self again! Ciao, Bello! 🚀🙋🏻

  3. Hi, all! My solve today was a quick WATCH & THROWN, a few extra seconds on PROVE, and the most seconds on AFLOAT. Last I solved the cartoon answer just as Jerry handed me my breakfast plate of scrambled cheese-eggs and a toasted English muffin with strawberry jelly.

I am still coming down off my high of family birthday lunches and the plethora of well wishes from all of you. Thanks again. Our anniversary today will be a day of resting & taking it easy with dinner at home of Olathe corn on the cob and barbequed baby back ribs.

Paul, thank you for your congratulations for Jerry’s and my 58th wedding anniversary, congratulations to you on coming home from A/C with 1500, and I salute/toast you with the rest of my breakfast orange juice.

    • Have a great anniversary, Lelia (even if it’s not a milestone! 😉). I’m just glad it’s not a MILLSTONE around your neck, or a ball and chain. Have a wonderful, relaxing day, and stay cool (but not cold).

  4. Hi all – I thought either the alien or one of the people would say “Long time no Sea”. No problem with the words, but the answer took awhile because I first saw WATER in the letters. Saw WHAT after a bit and got it.

Earl, minds thinking alike, but do you remember this?
“John Cameron Swayze tried to PROVE that the Timex WATCH THROWN into the water tank would take a licking, remain AFLOAT and keep on ticking, but he was sadly mistaken”.

Great song indeed Angela. I wonder if Earth Angel ever met Johnny Angel (🎵”How I Love Him!”🎵)
The alien is right up your alley, though. Although he doesn’t have one horn he does have one eye, so could probably eat all the purple people that keep reoccurring in the cartoons.

    Have a great day, everyone!

I’ve heard that every generation gets the movie monsters it deserves, from attacking armies {Earth vs The Flying Saucers) and radioactive creatures (Godzilla, Beast from 20,000 Fathoms), to peaceful, intelligent explorers (Close Encounters).

    • 🎶 Johnny Angel🎶 Shelley Fabres, right? I remember my first heartbreak and how I went looking through the cache for that 45, because his name was Johnny…To this day, the song still makes me sad! 😉 Aliens? Up my alley? You know how I dislike Science Fiction! There’ll be no Aliens up my alley! Indeed! 😂😂 Have a good one, G! 👽🙋🏻
