SUDEO = DOUSE

SLEDOC = CLOSED

BLLOGA = GLOBAL

CARTOON ANSWER:

WHEN THE SPACE PROBE APPROACHED PLUTO, MISSION CONTROL SAID – – –

FRODOSOSGOA = SO FAR, SO GOOD

Happy Tuesday, Jumble friends! CLOSED is a new clue word that’s making its debut today, however; it was used before in the final answer way back on 11/18/15. BLLOGA was the only anagram to trip me up this morning with my eyes seeing BOLOGNA and OBLONG at first. Upon figuring it out, its use as a clue word was very fitting given the theme of todays cartoon.

The setting for our panel appears to be a conference room where a woman at a lectern with the NASA logo is giving a presentation. Her attire along with her rectangular framed glasses gave me the impression that she’s very intelligent. The addition of the smile on her face as well as her thumb up on her left hand lets us know that the news must be good.

Reading the dialogue and sentence we discover that she’s actually part of NASA’S Mission Control and she’s giving an update on a space probe that was sent to Pluto. Doing a little research, I discovered that the space probe that Jeff has drawn is based upon an actual probe launched by NASA named New Horizons. The spacecraft was launched on January 19, 2006 and performed a flyby of Pluto on July 14, 2015 which was 9 years later!

The final solution was a 4-word layout using a combination of 11-letters. It appeared tricky at first but noticing SO grouped neatly together gave me a great starting point. GOOD jumped out at me next leaving SO and FAR for the finish. Have a terrific Tuesday, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

  1. ๐ŸŽถ GROUND CONTROL to Major Tom…GROUND CONTROL to Major Tom..Take your protein pills and put your helmet on…GROUND CONTROL to Major Tom (ten, nine, eight, seven, six). Commencing countdown, engines on (five, four, three). Check ignition and may God’s love be with you (two, one, liftoff)….๐ŸŽถ “Space Oddity” David Bowie 1969

    ๐Ÿš€ NASA’s New Horizons, the Space Probe to Pluto,
    Was FRONT and center to tell us that Pluto had to go…
    2006 it DOUSEd the thought that Planets numbered nine,
    And CLOSED the door on what we knew as Solar Systems shine.
    We dealt with GLOBAL warming, but this was hard to take…
    The Science Projects deemed useless were left now in its wake.
    Confusion for a lot of us, especially Disney fans…
    Pluto the bloodhound, now a Dwarf?…Give me a show of hands…
    And now we hear it may not be a Planet after all?
    But just a Comet Cluster…Oh how the mighty fall…
    I’ll leave it to the Space Probers, too much misunderstood…
    The Solar System’s changing…But they say…SO FAR SO GOOD! ๐Ÿš€

    Words? Easy, breezy, another Jumble gift. The whole PLUTO situation? My head’s in the CLOUDS. Really…I’m SPACEd OUT over it…First a PLANET, then a DWARF PLANET…now a CLUSTER of COMETS? I’m SCOURing my brain trying to come to grips with the whole thing. What is it? A PLANET…OR..BITs of COMETS? I give UP…But as for our cartoon: The dialogue tells us the PROBE travelled “3 Billion Miles”..That’s so far… and “everything’s working”…SO?…SO FAR, SO GOOD! NASAly done, Dave! PROBEably one of our easiest!

    Eye candy? Iโ€™ll pass…I’m OUTER SPACE…So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day Everyone! I did have some really good PLUTO puns, but they didn’t STYX in my head…I guess I didn’t PLANET right…CHARON, that was funny! No?… Well then I guess I’ll just leave you with this…PLUTO.?..It’s Self EX-PLANETARY! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  2. A concerted FRONT prevented a DOUSE to GLOBAL cooperation and CLOSED down a threat to world trade.
    Like Mike, GLOBAL slowed me down and I slapped my forehead when I did unscramble it—had the same grief when it appeared before, I believe.
    Thanks for drawing attention to cartoon details and background to the Probe.
    Angela—great song choice—one of the few Bowie song’s I remember.
    Your poem and post were pluperfectly perfect and patently probing.
    I thought you might go the Pluto the pup in some puns today. But what you gave us was enough.

    • LOL..Good Morning, Earl. The alteration went to the P’s this morning, I see! Well done! You’re sentence..Well done! That Pup Pluto? Couldn’t resist…He’s just such a favorite! Thanks for the Shout Out and the Poem Nom…It was SO quick and easy to work with today…And yes, I looked..Back in November, GLOBAL did “cause you pause”! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m in the middle of something, but I’m going to play with the P’s and get an alliterative Prize for you…I’ll be back! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • Youโ€™re correct that weโ€™ve seen GLOBAL numerous times, Earl. Tough words to use in a sentence today, but you pulled it off spectacularly. Have a terrific morning, my friend. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Earl…PART 2…This people-pleasing man who lives somewhere near Plattsburgh, provides us daily with a bit of prose to pique anyone’s palate. His painstaking attention to detail while producing these little pebbles in the pond for our blog is paramount to the pleasure we all procure from it. Perfection permeates…and I’m persuaded to pronounce that he’s pretty much a little piece of pure delight…and I’m extremely particular when it comes to being passionate about my peers in prose! He’s simply a perspicacious, pithy, positively playful phenomenon! Par none! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Perhaps Pope and Poe peek and puff with paternal pride per poetic posts and puns,puns,puns. ๐Ÿ”” ๐Ÿ”” ๐Ÿ””

        • ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป LOL…Or maybe Mothers feel maligned mainly because it seems matter of factly that men are most often the ones to get the majority of the credit in mainstream modulation? ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  3. Good morning. Thanks Mike for some interesting facts,it was well worth my trip today. The song choice finished my adventure off on a good note and the puns as well as Angela’s words along with Earl sealed the journey. Nice job. I had trouble with “Closed” I’d say closed would be the second easiest word but it wasn’t for me. The other three words were solved in the same time it took me to close the words and go to the cartoon. That was nice and simple to get as far as I was concerned. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Iโ€™m glad you enjoyed the write-up, Paul. Itโ€™s always a treat when Jeff blends real world information into his cartoon.

      Iโ€™m not a fan of past tense words as anagrams. Since it was new I didnโ€™t whine about it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

      Enjoy the day, my friend!

    • Good Morning, Paul…Thanks for the Shout Out..And I didn’t TRIP over all the plays on words that you snuck into your post! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป GOOD job! Have a GOOD one, Brooklyn…Stay cool..It’s supposed to reach 100!! ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  4. Easy puzzle this morning . I too thought of bologna first but too many letters. I felt kind of sad when I heard that Pluto had been demoted from its status as an official planet. The last time I was at Disneyland, one of the gift shops had a little pin of Pluto the dog with a sign that read “Save Pluto”. Have a good one people.

  5. Anagrams are easy if you can spell .I was trying to make codels out of coldest,and go ball out of global.Fortunately seeing the errors in my ways,I found coldest and global and the ultimate solution.

    • Hey Prof! Math and poetry are fingers pointing at the moon…But don’t confuse the finger for the moon! Just because I know the Iambic Pentameter doesn’t mean I’ll ever analyze it! To thine own self be true, Sir! Hope you’re enjoying your day! โœ–๏ธโž•โž–โž—๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  6. Hi, Mike, et al! I agree with you, Mike, that GLOBAL was the hardest solve. I solved the first 2 words, then the cartoon answer, and CLOSED & GLOBAL last. I thought it was a happy little, easy Tuesday Jumble.

    Your telling us that you got to attend a Red Sox game at Fenway was an answer to a prayer for me. I can just see the huge smiles on the faces of you & your son. I hope someone took a picture.

    • Good morning, Lelia. I actually took my brother with me to the game. The Red Sox were playing the Texas Rangers and some fans that we spoke with from Houston were nice enough to offer to take pictures of us. We spent a good hour before the game going all over the park taking photos of pretty much everything.

      Fenway is always a packed house and you can feel the energy in the crowd. It makes the game so much more enjoyable to watch as you experience the highs and lows of the game right along with them.

      Some severe thunderstorms are on the way and I can hear rumbling in the distance. The clouds are moving very fast out over the ocean so itโ€™s time to get everyone out of the pool and dried off. I hope both you and Jerry are having a superb morning together. All my best for a wonderful day! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Hi, Mike! Thanks for the delicious details of attending the Red Sox game. I got goose bumps just thinking about the high energy level of the Fenway crowd.

        First we had excessive heat, then the monsoons began. First monsoon was killer wind & dust and then 2 days later came more wind with pounding rain.

  7. Hi all – I tried the ED at the end and saw CLOSED right away, then after considering A BLOG, saw that BAL was most likely to occur, and GLOBAL appeared.

    Iโ€™ve been following the New Horizons mission via their emails and website since the approach to Pluto began, right through the astonishing photos that showed that Pluto and its moon Charon are active, changing worlds despite all previous thought. And more amazingly, the probe is still healthy. Yes, the Kuiper Belt is not only something that holds up Giantsโ€™ announcer (and former Cleveland Indian) Duaneโ€™s pants, itโ€™s where Pluto and other interesting objects live, including Kuiper belt object (486958) 2014 MU69, which the spacecraft is on schedule to flyby and photograph this coming January 1, 2019. Happy New Year indeed!

    Of course I love the song choice Angela, even more because of the two most poignant things I read right after David Bowieโ€™s death: First, that the Domtoren church bells in Utrecht, Netherlands rang out โ€œMajor Tomโ€ in the subsequent days, and second when The Vaticanโ€™s Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, tweeted out the final 3 lines that you quoted.
    May the love be with him indeed, Space Cadet!

    Have a wonderful day, everyone!

    • Hi, Steve! I loved your song welcoming Mike home yesterday. Now segue back to the last one you wrote for me that I said made me laugh. To clarify, I did not think it was funny. I was having a terrible week and your song about waiting for Lelia from the Valley of the Sun, made me so happy and cheered me up so much that I laughed out loud. I love it and will TREASURE it forever with the summertime one about โ€œteacherโ€ฆzip your lip. Sorry Lelia,โ€ and โ€œJennifer Juniperโ€ and the sand picture Mike surprised me with. Thanks again, wholeheartedly, for your songs.

  8. It is 10:51 AM on July 18 and we still have no jumble in our email. What happened to it?

    • Iโ€™m sorry that you never received the daily email today, Elaine. My write-up was completed shortly after 9am and then I sent it out. So sorry it missed you today! It wasnโ€™t on purpose and may have been a technical glitch.
