CARTOON ANSWER: THE INVENTOR OF THE SADDLE HAD THE  – – –

ER   IE   DD   IA   =   “RIDE” IDEA

Good Morning, Everyone!      🐎 Now That Was Using HORSE SENSE! 🐎

🎶 MUSTANG Sally, think you better slow your MUSTANG down…MUSTANG Sally, think you better slow your MUSTANG down…You been running all over the town now…Oh! I guess I’ll have to put your flat feet on the ground…All you want to do is RIDE around Sally, RIDE, Sally, RIDE…All you want to do is RIDE around Sally, RIDE, Sally, RIDE…All you want to do is RIDE around Sally, RIDE, Sally, RIDE…🎶 “Mustang Sally” – Wilson Pickett 1966

🐎 Way back in the 4th Century, a man, a horse a PADDLE,
A thought, perhaps a LINER ‘tween the man and horse…a Saddle?
A man sat in the FOYER of his home, he was Sarmation,
With JIGSAW-like precision, he worked with determination…
He looked for balance, comfort too…a hide his horse could wear…
The Saddle was invented and voilà, the “RIDE” IDEA! 🐎

With the exception of JIGSAW, today’s words are Sweet Repeats. Unable to find JIGSAW in the files, if it does prove to be new, it looks like we may be BREAKing some sort of record with so many new words in such a short period of time. Yesterday’s SNAZZY was a first as suspected, so it looks like our Jumble FOALcabulary is  just FOAL of new words! But did anything BREAK my STRIDE this morning? NEIGH, NEIGH…it was an easy, breezy RIDE right through…So, ok, our cartoon. Today, we find ourselves in what I believe to be the year 365 AD, among so COLT SARMATIONS. I don’t think I’ve ever HERD of them before, but HAY, there’s a whole lot I STALL don’t know after all these STEERS…We see three men, one astRIDE a HORSE, and they’re discussing the invention of the SADDLE. One man is asking how the other came up with the IDEA, and he’s like..”.CUD you believe I was just TROJAN some thoughts around in my head, and there it was? I figured why should we always be sitting up here FRIESIAN? This SADDLE will keep us warm in the winter, and in the summer? No SWEAT, it’ll work well then too”! And then a third man is HERD CHAIRing him ON…So, in answer to what the INVENTOR had? He had a great solution! He had the “RIDE” IDEA! HIP-HIP HOORAY! I’m HORSE from CHAIRing so loudly! Really good one David…You just keep surPASTUREing yourself every day!

Ok, eye candy…There’s a HORSE alone in the background…Meh, SOLE what…I like the ancient facial HAIR, but I’ll BRUSH PAST it. The hats are nice, but they don’t look very STABLE…Let’s just go with that eye-rolling look on the HORSE’S face…That’s a pretty pRUMINANT glance…I guess the whole IDEA JOUST isn’t SITTING so well with him, huh?..So, There you have it, Folks! Done! Have a great day, Everyone…And don’t settle for MAREly getting by today…Get out there and ROAN around…It’ll beHOOVE you…you’ll see…🐎🙋🏻

    • Good Morning, Harry. You boys and your Hoosier charm…Thank you, HM. I hope you have a great day! 🙋🏻

  1. On the luxury LINER, a JIGSAW puzzle and a table tennis PADDLE were left in the first class FOYER, causing consternation amongst the stewards.
Slight pause at JIGSAW—one of those compound words that I dislike and give me hesitation. And the solution? One of those puns that I not only groan at, but causes me to roll my eyes—not a big fan of this one.
An ” oldie” that I remember Angela, thanks for reminding me of it. There are lots of songs with “horse” references, I’m wondering what prompted this one?
Wonderful Wednesday wordsmithing ( which auto-correct does not like) word wizard—-way to write and woo WOWs from weather-weary walkers.
Have a happy “Hump Day” Angela and all those who visit this stimulating blog.

    • Good Morning, Earl! My song? The word RIDE? The fact that I spoke with my friend SALLY this morning, and he said he’s thinking of RIDING up to NY instead of dealing with the airLINERs? 😉 Yes, it was those two things! So, today’s sentence? I think this just may be one of your best ones yet! And that’s saying a lot, because you’ve consistently offered up some really good ones. 👏🏻 Bravo, Sir, it’s an absolute gem! I think JIGSAW is new, and it’s a great word, isn’t it, compound not withstanding? And this alliterative WONDER you’ve WOOed❤️me with? I think I’m blushing! I love it! Thank you soooo much. Both for the content and the sentiment…Overwhelming to say the least…And I WISH you a WONDERful Hump Day too, Earl! Enjoy! 🐎🙋🏻

      • “I’m back in the SADDLE again
Out where a friend is a friend.”
Anyone younger than me remember this song, without Googling it?
Angela—I thought of this while I was walking and wondered why I wasn’t with it earlier—again with the Ws!!
Thanks for all the kind thoughts—I am way too lazy to write a book and far too long in the tooth to begin another career.

        • Of course, Earl! (Now I really hope I get this right!) Famous baseball team owner Gene Autry. (If it’s Roy Rogers, I’ll be really embarrassed.) Ah, so this is what it was like before Google. I remember!

        • Earl, I wish I could say what I’m thinking…BUT!!! 😂😷 And the W’s are WONDERFUL..Keep ’em comin’ . As for that book? You’re quite welcome…But I learned to never say never…
          And Steve…Yes, Gene Autry..No Google…. 😉🙋🏻

      • Angela–You are correct with Gene Autry. Roy Rogers’ song was “Happy trails to you, until we meet again”. Which I believe was written by his wife–Dale Evans.

        • HI, Earl. Yes, you’re right, she did write it. But Steve really knew it was Gene Autry, not Roy Rogers…He was just “being Steve”. That’s why I teased him about it…So, “I’d like to share this award with my Fellow Jumbler, Steve.., blah, blah, blah” 😂 Cooled off a little down here, I got in a short run…Hope you’re enjoying a beautiful night, Sir! .🐎🙋🏻

          • “Modesty Forbids” 🤭😂 I knew you would know it, and you’re welcome to the award; I’ve had enough good luck today getting my problems straightened out.
But it was surprising how it felt to post something with the possibility of being “Dead Wrong in Public” without checking Google first. We’re so spoiled! 🙋🏻‍♂️

            • Pshaw! Pshaw! Modesty? You? Do you realize where you are? 😉 We’ve no room for modesty here! But I insist. We both know you knew…You were just going for the punch line! Yep, we are spoiled…rotten! But it’s the nature of the beast…And as for the “Dead Wrong in Public”. Been there…Fun that! Life’s too short to worry about making mistakes…😉🙋🏻

              • I’m attempting to secretly contract with Earl to don his White Sportcoat and a Pink Carnation and deliver your award of A Rose and A Baby Ruth. 😂🙋🏻‍♂️

              • LOL..I’d enjoy them both, although I don’t think Baby Ruth’s are sold any longer! TBT? Replace it with those libations we spoke of..and then we’ll both be happy! 🍻🍷🙋🏻

  2. My only problem today was having to back into JIGSAW. Earl, your sentence sounds to me like the beginning of a mystery story. Thanks, as always, for the info & puns, Angela.

    • Good Morning, Caroline. It looks like JIGSAW will be that PIECE of the PUZZLE to get us today! 😉 Thanks so much for the Shout Out, and as always, it’s my pleasure. You know how I love those one-LINERs! As for Mr Earl…I’ve been telling him forever that he needs to pen a book. I even offered to help ghost write…but I guess he doesn’t want to make a SPECTERcal of himself! 😉 Hope you have a great day, Caroline! 🐎🙋🏻

  3. Good morning. I’ll read everybody later I’m off to A/C and the bus in bouncing around on our beautiful paved Brooklyn streets. I’m starting to get car sick why typing. No problem with anything today. Another easy breezy one only difference is I like my answer for the cartoon better than yours. I have “Dire Idea”. Figured it’s relating to the backside so I’m sticking with my answer. Fits better with the quotation marks. Let’s take a vote. I’m in favor of my answer. That’s one for me none for the experts. Until tomorrow stay well or in my case later rather than tomorrow.

    • ROTFL! Dire this! 😉 Where do you come up with these things? You’re as bad as me! Well, you put it out there..so we’ll just wait and see. 10 to 1, you’ll get a vote or two! Good Morning, Paul! You know you have me dying here, right? I swear, you keep me hopping, and you make my day, Brooklyn! So, AC? Good luck…don’t get stupid…(as they say) . ENJOY..but better to ENFOLD…You know…”En I FOLDed my money and came home”? Know that one? I hope if you’re reading this it doesn’t make you “bus sick”..Just take a deep breath. Did you bring the paper bag? You know they say if you place a paper bag across your chest, under your shirt, it wards off car sickness…Really, that’s what they say. They who? Paul..I can’t have ALL the answers. Google it…Anyway, Bud, be careful, have a good time, and remember what I told you about the ENFOLD. Talk to you later, Brooklyn! PS: Loved the comment about our streets…SAVE the PAVE..The HOLE city’s a mess! Ciao, Bello! Good Luck! 🎲🎲🃏🙋🏻

    • Hi Chuck! Good afternoon! JIGSAW’S definitely CUTTING down the competition today! And as you said, the solve was an easy PIECE! Sorry that FOYER HALLted you too…😂 Hope you’re having a good day, Sir! Be well…🐎🙋🏻

  4. Easy puzzles so far this week. Jigsaw looked funny but I was able to figure it out. Happy Wednesday everyone.

    • Hi Betty…Good Morning! I know, right? One easier than the other so far..and we’re half way into the week! I think all the APP activity is just making us all better PLAYERS 😉 at this GAME! Happy Wednesday to you too, Betty! Ciao! 🐎🙋🏻

  5. The first saddle is believed to have been invented in 365 AD by the Sarmations, a large Iranian confederation that existed in classical antiquity, flourishing from about the 5th century BC to the 4th century AD. . , their saddle creations were brought back to Europe by the Huns.

    • Hi Clay..Looks like we found the same article, huh? 😉 I don’t believe I’d ever heard the name before until I read it at 3:30 this morning. I may have, but it was too early to argue with myself! And I had quite a time getting it past the Auto Correct! It kept wanting to type SAMARITAN…not GOOD! 😉 I found both spellings “tion” and “tian” I went with the “A”. (I’ve always been partial to an “A”. But now after seeing this, I went back in and see more articles using the “tion”, so I think I’ll change it…Thanks for the heads up…You’re a lot easier to deal with than the Auto Correct! 😉 Hope you’re enjoying your day, Sir! 🐎🙋🏻

  6. Hi all – Once the horse realized how much more comfortable the saddle made him, he would ride over to his owners every morning singing “I’m picking up good Sarmations; they’re giving me excitations.”

As far as Chuck and Caroline are concerned, I’d much rather “back into” a foyer than a jigsaw!

Fun to see the unusual combination GJW appear, but the whole word reminded me of when we’ve had SEESAW in the past and made it easier. Don’t try to make a Rickshaw by taking a jigsaw to a seesaw. Ummm, where was I? Oh yeah, the puzzle, and the “Horses, horses.”
🎵”I bought you a brand new Mustang, 1965”🎵but it cost so much I couldn’t afford to record the song until 1966. Oh well, “Ninety Nine and a Half” will have to do.
My wife’s high school teams were called the Mustangs, and when Ford heard about it they not only didn’t sue, but sent over a whole bunch of merchandise, keychains, etc. Nice of them.

Enough Rambling in my Metropolitan area, have a great day!

    • 👏🏻👏🏻 So,you know I’m reading the opening and I segue right into 🎶Good Vibrations 🎶before I’m realizing that that’s where you were pointing me…😂😂’!! Either we’re too good at this, or the mediocrity has taken full control! It’s scary! Kudos! Too, too funny! Ok, next..Mr Pickett?..Know the lyrics, hit the year right, clue me in on the 99 1/2. The rest? I obviously didn’t drink what you did this morning..I was still pondering the Popes! Have a good one, G…Try to relax a little…Breathe!!😂😂🙋🏻

      • 99 1/2 – another Wilson Pickett – he didn’t *quite* get the song recorded in the correct year, but close.
I spent the morning on the phone dealing with minor problems. All cleared up, but what’s left of my brain was fried. Have a good one! 🙋🏻‍♂️

        • 🎶Ninety Nine and a Half Won’t Do🎶…will have to do…I get it! 😉 As long as everything’s cleared up…that’s what counts…Later, Alligator! 🐊🙋🏻

  7. Good afternoon. Quick update. Short and sweet. I was down at least 500-600 and decided to play jokers wild “two pair or better” the lady next to me hit for a thousand on five sixes and would I watch her sweater while she collected. Being the gentleman that I am I figured I’d play till she came back which was right next to her machine. She got back and after three spins I hit with five fives
and also won a thousand. Going home 300 to the good. Take care.

    • Brooklyn…You are one lucky Dude! You done good! Safe home..Talk to you later…🎲🎲🙋🏻
