OU   DK   MPL   OH   IT   OE  =   LOOKED UP TO HIM

Good Morning, Everyone!              🏆 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY 🏆

🎶 You’re the end of the rainbow, my pot o’ gold, you’re DADDY’S Little Girl to have and hold….A precious gem is what you are, you’re Mommy’s bright and shining star, You’re the spirit of Christmas, my star on the tree, you’re the Easter bunny to Mommy and me…You’re sugar, you’re spice, you’re everything nice, and you’re DADDY’S Little Girl…🎶

🏆 When I grew up in Brooklyn, I would hear out in the street,
A phrase that always stuck with me, that others would repeat.
They’d say “Law of the Jungle” was the only way to go…
IMPALAs POUNCE is what I gleaned, the image my mind showed.
It seemed a whole lot DARKER than what I had learned at home…
My Father having taught me things like “All Roads Lead to Rome”…
So thinking that to SCORCH someone was how to get ahead,
Caused a HIATUS to come between the street and my homestead.
My Father taught me kindness and respect…the rule of thumb,
To meet and treat all equally, not look at ones’ INCOME
And those became the principles, till this day never dimmed,
My Father taught me right from wrong…and I LOOKED UP TO HIM 🏆

Today’s words are a nice blend of the SHORT and the TALL. Easy, not so easy. I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re hard, but we may have had to pull on that old thinking cap for one or two. I found them all to be Sweet Repeats, except for DARKER. It may be new. Yet somehow, it seems so familiar. But, as I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been doing the puzzles on the Just Jumble App for a while now, so I may have seen it there. One other thing I thought I’d mention is that today, the word HIATUS is printed here, and also on the 4-word version that a lot of our readers have in their papers, the Vintage Jumbles. I’m not sure if this is a first, but I did find it amusing. Ok, on to our solution! Today, I believe we find ourselves in Detroit, supposedly on FATHER’S DAY, at the home of the U-HAUL Family. We see a man, STRETCH say 30ish, slightly TALL, giving his Father, AVERAGE, AVI for SHORT, say late 50ish, average HEIGHT, a card. From the dialogue, we see that it’s hand made, just as the younger man made in his youth. We can see that the Avi is visibly moved, and Stretch goes on to say that his Father has always been his hero. In the background, the wife and Mother, CASSIE, CASE for SHORT, is seen…also visibly moved. There’s a lot of MOVING going on here, with this U-HAUL Family. Our question states…Even though the son was now TALLER than his FATHER, he still…LOOKED UP TO HIM! Good one, David. HIGH Five!

Ok, eye candy. I’m so DRAWN to the drapes. The inclusion of the finials on the curtain rods deserves a ROUND of applause. Great detail, Jeff. Stretch’s arm on Avi’s shoulder, and Avi’s arm, in turn on his…both outSTRETCHED to one another…very TOUCHING. Case’s hand to her throat in sentimental surprise…MOVING. And I like the Detroit Red Wings Logo on Stretch’s Jersey, and Avi’s shirt…but I’ll FLY past it.  The card is cute, but just like the newspaper in Case’s hand, I can’t make out the image too well…just not GRAPHIC enough…So, that leaves the old writing on the wall…There’s an old PHOTO of the three of them, hanging on the wall. And Stretch is sitting upon his Father’s shoulders…Just the LIFT I needed this morning…So, There you have it, Folks! Done! Have a great Father’s Day, Everyone! I RAISE my glass to all who celebrate! 🍷🙋🏻

  1. Morning, all –
Thanks again, Angela, for explaining what’s going on and sharing your dad’s excellent advice.
I found the words hard – very hard. I didn’t get any on my first run through, not even the one vowel word SCORCH. Fortunately, the answer came easily. But it still took me a long time and lots of jumbling to get all the words. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!

    • Good Morning, Caroline. Thank you very much for the Shout Out, and you’re very welcome. As always, my pleasure. My Dad was blessed with the “Gift of Gab”…(And yes, I can hear the roar!…This nut didn’t fall far from that tree)! 😉 LOL…He was always “imparting His wisdom” upon us. In fact, He used to say that long after He was gone, we’d have His “Words of Wisdom” as he called them, to live by. And it rings true every day….Ok, enough of that! ❤️💔
I’m so sorry that the words gave you a run for your money this morning…Did you put the thinking cap on? 😉 They were a pretty good mix. And yes, the answer was a give-away, clever, but pretty obvious with the mention of TALLER… I’m glad you stuck with it though…How satisfying when it finally all falls into place, right? I hope you have a wonderful day, and my Best Wishes to all the Fathers in your midst! Enjoy! 🍷🙋🏻

      • I was actually glad to have some tough ones today and, yes, it was satisfying once they were solved. If I didn’t have the answer, I don’t think I would have gotten them all.

        • That’s what I’m hearing all morning, Caroline… That if the answer wasn’t such a given, there might have been some serious head scratching going on! There was head scratching…but it wasn’t all that serious! LOL…As long as you enjoyed it, that’s all that counts! 😘🙋🏻

  2. Hiatus even came quickly, but darker and impala were troublesome.Happy Fathers Day to all of my fellow Dads and grandfathers out there.

    • Good Morning, Chuck! Happy Father’s Day to you, Sir! So far, DARKER is the front runner…I’ve had 6 “complaints” so far this morning. IMPALA’s running a close second…Be interesting to see who wins this race today…I couldn’t help but notice that the Indians hardly made it out of the gate y’day…(We may as well stick with the horse theme)…But you’re on deck again today for 1…Go get ’em! Good luck, and I hope you have your best Father’s Day yet! Enjoy! 🍷🙋🏻

      • Indians starting pitcher, Carrasco, was ” knocked out of the box” with a line drive off his pitching elbow ,which ruined the game for the Tribe.

  3. Hi all – The first three words were the hardest for me. Got IMPALA after IMPALE, POUNCE next, and DARKER after thinking ARCADE. The answer seemed obvious.

Angela, from the structure of the verse to the story it tells, I think your poem is quite simply the best you’ve ever done here. Thanks and congrats! 👍🙋🏻‍♂️

Wishing you all a great day!

    • Aw, G…You old Sweet-Talker, you! Thanks, but I think it’s just the sentiment that’s getting to ya..Anyone can relate..We all got that soft spot when it comes to Parents…We’d be wood if we didn’t….But again, Thank you..Very, very much. ❤️ And Thank God David gave us a gift with the answer today, right? 😉 Have a good one, Bud! 🙋🏻
PS: Any chance you’re hearing this Yankee Old Timers Day Game? If you didn’t know better? And just looked at the scoreboard? You’d think they were playing football! LOL!! Gotta love it! ⚾️🙋🏻

      • No, no time for baseball – I have to start following the Canadian Football League that started this week! 😂😂😂
Our household certainly has no rooting interest in the soccer World Cup with both the US and Netherlands teams failing to qualify. Go Iceland!! The Vegas of international soccer? 😂
Time for a nap anyway, have a great day! 🙋🏻‍♂️

        • CFL, Huh? Let me know how that works out for ya! 😂 I’m Team Portugal..🙋🏻

  4. Challenging words for me today. Darker & Hiatus tripped me up. I figured out the cartoon answer and worked backwards on them. I was thinking of Father themed TV shows. We always watched Ozzie & Harriet. I couldn’t figure out if Ozzie ever went to work, like my Dad did. He always seemed to be around the house relaxing in his sweater, unlike my Dad who often had projects around the house when he wasn’t at his official job. At any rate, Happy Fathers’ Day to all of you out there. Have an Ozzie sort of day.

    • …You know you,”sound” like Betty, but I don’t know who this is…They were a bit of Thinking Cap words, but all in all, I think it was a great effort on Davids’ part…I know something of Ozzie and Harriet, but had to look up the sweater…I don’t think I ever saw my Father in one of those! LOL..And same here…I always remember my Dad working too. Have a good one, whoever you are! And come again…🙋🏻

  5. That was indeed my post, Angela. Didn’t realize my name wasn’t attached. Betty

    • OMG! I thought so! Too funny…or eerie! I was afraid to be too presumptuous! But I’m glad I “recognized” you! Ok, so…”Come again…”..LOL.. Hope you’re having a great day, Betty! 😂🙋🏻

  6. Good evening. It’s still Sunday so for all you Fathers out there. Happy Fathers Day. Just got in from a nice day. Ate at a restaurant with 4/5th of my children and later on went to number 1 house. All and all a terrific day. Number 1 had an a/c problem and the fuse box he wanted me to check. The internet is great, took the part out on the outdoor A/C and once he gets the new part it should work again. If that was the problem he saved between 300-400. I got all the words today but had no time to solve the cartoon. Decided to give up and will read everybody later. Until tomorrow take care.

    • Hey Brooklyn….Belated Happy Father’s Day. Sounds like you had a good one, and is there anything you CAN’T do? Kudos on the A/C repair! Catch you later…🔧🙋🏻
