CARTOON ANSWER:

THE TRAIL THE TWINS WALKED ON HAD ENDED, SO THEY DECIDED TO – – –

AOBUBDKLCE = DOUBLE BACK

Happy Monday, Jumble players! Before we jump into today’s game, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and revisit the most difficult anagrams that we encountered last week. IVENDI, NAGEAD, and RAYPAL were the top three clue word searches and Wednesday’s COURT-SIDE SEATS surprise answer left quite a few of you scratching your head. Were you able to decipher them a little easier the second time around? My favorite cartoon from last week was Friday’s “TIDAL” PAGE panel where we saw an older couple enjoying a beautiful day at the beach. The surprise answer was a clever solution that suited Jeff’s artwork perfectly.

Today’s clue words weren’t much of a challenge which is typical for a Monday morning puzzle. HAVOC and PALACE were the only words to slow me down as they both required a couple of extra glances before coming into view. Out of the two of them, PALACE would by my pick for the most difficult anagram of the day. The two A’s had me thinking that it was ALPACA at first before I changed course and started the solution with a consonant instead of a vowel.

When starting to solve the cartoon, I always take a moment to look at just the drawing itself and try to pick up on the visual clues that the imagery provides. Today we see two hikers that have a look on confusion on their faces as they reference their map. The men appear to be twins and they’re wearing identical clothing as well. Although they look lost, the path is well-trodden and easy to see so I was getting the feeling that they had taken a wrong turn. Nothing else jumped out at me so I decided it was time to read the dialogue and sentence. By doing so, we learn that our hikers have come to a dead end which is shown by a rock formation that is blocking their way.

The final solution was effortless and I was able to pull off a blind solve. The letter layout was wonderfully cryptic but wasn’t necessary for me to finish this one off. I thought the clever answer meshed perfectly with the artwork giving us a superb Jumble to start the week. Have a marvelous Monday, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

  1. Agreed, the artwork and the cartoon dialogue were all one needed to deduce the final solution.
    This one wasn’t quantum physics.
Rather late posting for such an easy solve.

  2. Good morning. “I’m back.”I went to Maryland with one of my sons to visit my brother and sister in law. My nephew came from S.C.to visit his father. It’s been awhile since I seen all three. My son and I left Thur and came home Sun. We went to Cherry Hill Park 9800 Cherry Hill Road College Hill MD 20740. If you get a chance google it. The place is amazing. The owner spent 59million on up grades last year. I met the man and thought he was a worker there. He is such a nice man. My brother-in-law use to own an RV repair plus a camp ground upstate NY. The short version is they live there from April-mid Oct free for both working part time. The owner set him up with a trailer and it’s there all year long. The rest of his time they are in Florida or traveling. Please check out the place it’s amazing. On today’s jumble for me it seemed more like a mid week one. The two hardest words were Palace which I got by blind solving the cartoon and knowing the three letters I needed. The next hardest word was Havoc. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • It sounds like you had a wonderful reunion, Paul, and Iโ€™ll have to look the place up. It should be easy with the address that you provided.

Nice work on the blind solve! Just a routine Monday morning solve. Enjoy your Monday, my friend. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. A BLURB in “Majesty” magazine informed the public of the HAVOC in Kensington PALACE when Prince George rode his DONKEY into the drawing room.
I agree, Mike, that PALACE was the hardest clue word to unscramble. The solution was obvious after studying the cartoon. Appreciate your posts and attention to details.
    Have a good day everyone. ๐ŸŒž ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  4. I came up w the double back solution, before getting havoc.Palace came quickly given the royal wedding on Sat.Go Cavs go!

  5. ๐ŸŽถ I’m WALKIN’, yes indeed and I’m talkin’ about you and me, I’m hopin’ that you’ll come back to me, yeah-yeah….๐ŸŽถ

    Good Morning, Everyone! ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿšถ๐ŸปTWIN…CHAGRIN ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป

๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿšถ๐ŸปYou’d think it’d create HAVOC if your trail ended like this
After hiking up and down these hills, and not finding your bliss…
I suppose they planned to circle ’round and enter camp that way
But instead it looks like they’ll just have to put that map away.
Turn around and rehike all those hills, again walk through the thallus..
By the tired looks they seem to have, camp’s gonna seem a PALACE.
If they’re smart they’ll add a BLURB or two into that maps directions
Or perhaps re-write it making sure to split it into sections…
Be nice to have a DONKEY so he’d carry gear for them
So the return trek won’t seem so bad, and they won’t be so grim.
But the bottom line is bad directions left them way off track
And the only choice that now remains is simply DOUBLE BACK๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป

None of today’s words are new, having all been used between March and November of 2017. And WOOD you believe none of them gave us much trouble last time AROUND? So I’m pretty confiTENT that we’ll WALK right through them this time also. Our cartoon today takes us to a HIKING TRAIL, where we see TWIN brothers reaching a DEAD END after WALKING quite a DISTANCE, despite onsulting a MAP. Dead and Red Tired are discussing what to do now that they’ve EXHAUSTED their options. Coming face to FACEade with ROCK FORMations, they’ve FORMed the obvious conclusion that they may as well TURN BACK. Once again, the dialogue, “TURN AROUND” and “DEAD END” COUPLED with the question, mentioning “TWINS” and “ENDED”, gives us our solution lock, stock, and BACKPACK! What else could they do, but…DOUBLE BACK! Good one, David! Nice WAY to SUMMIT up!

Ok, eye candy. I’m looking at all the beautiful rolling green hills, but I’m OVER THEM. There’s a lot of STONES, but I’m not HIGH over those either. We can see a lot of Evergreen Trees, but they’re really not inTREESting. There’s a small broken piece of tree trunk off to the right, but it’s a DOWNer. And of course we have Dead and Red’s attire. Hoping to CLOTHES this out, I tried finding something here, but you’ve seen one CAR GO, you’ve seen them all. And let’s face it, the BACKPACKS aren’t really carrying much weight. WALKING STICKS? A little POLEarizing. Their boots, with the LUGS on the outsoles are GRIPPING, but I’ll SIDE STEP them also. You know what? I can see I’m NOT GETTING ANYWHERE with this eye candy today, so before this builds up any aniMOSSity, I’m just going to go with the MAP that Dead is holding. Maybe it’ll point me in the right DIRECTION…I mean, it can’t get me any more LOST then I am already. So, There you have it, Folks! Done! Have a great day, Everyone. And remember… CAMPING can be very INTENTS. If you don’t do the reSEARCH, you might end up going to the bathroom in the FOREST. And WOOD you really want that to be your only FaciliTREES…?๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • Now youโ€™re in my wheelhouse Angela. You couldn’t have picked a better song. Nobody does it better than Fats Domino. I have three of his old albums. One of my favorite singers. Enjoyed your use of the words and overall post. Check out the camp ground. I used to go with my brother-In-law to various camp grounds where he would do work, but this place puts everything to shame.

      • Hey Brooklyn, Move on over…I share the wheelhouse with you. I’ve always been a fan, ever since my Father introduced him to me when I was knee high to the proverbial grasshopper!
I think the albums I have are My Blue Heaven, Fats is Back, and Fats Domino Greatest Hits. And I know there’s a few 45’s thrown in the mix too. I still listen to my vinyl all the time. There’s just something about it.
Thanks for the shout out and the Poem Nom. I’ll check out the camp ground. And I’m happy to hear that you enjoyed your few days away…But you know I did miss you…๐Ÿ˜˜ Have a good one, Brooklyn. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Hey Paul. The place seems really nice. Scenic and peaceful. Hope you’re having a good night. Mets going for the shut out. Hope they don’t blow it…โšพ๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  6. An easy blind solve today, and only a slight hitch on havoc, as it required a second pass.

    Until tomorrow.

    • Definitely agree on havoc,I backed ino it after I had the final double back solution.

  7. Hi all – Hey, I apologize for posting this so early today! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚

Itโ€™s the Doublemint Twinsโ€™ brothers! Only the last word gave me any trouble. โ€œMediocre Mindsโ€, Mike! One two few Aโ€™s for the ALPACA to have LEAPT into the CHAPEL at the end of the trail, although I would like to have seen that.
Elvis – ๐ŸŽตโ€You saw me crying in the CHAPEL
The tears I shed were tears of joyโ€๐ŸŽต

Angela, the brothers were ๐ŸŽตโ€Walkinโ€™ to New Orleansโ€๐ŸŽต but obviously never got there.
    Have a great day, everyone.

    • LOL..Steve., I think it’s TIME we put this one to rest, no? Before we end up beating the dead DONKEY, I mean horse! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And I’m SMH at the musical POLE vault from the Palace/Alpaca to Elvis and his ๐ŸŽถtears of joy..๐ŸŽถ Maybe if you threw in ..๐ŸŽถI’ve SEARCHED and I’ve SEARCHED but I couldn’t find ..no way on Earth to gain peace of mind…๐ŸŽถ it would have fit the theme here..๐Ÿ˜‰ Without it, it just comes ACROSS like TRAIL and Error! ๐Ÿ˜‚ And if these two ” LOST BOYS” were headed for New Orleans, and we’re seeing Evergreens in the background…? I’d say now’s the TIME for that CHAPEL…They’re gonna need all the prayers they can get! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Hope you’re having a good one, G! ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • They started in the Piney Woods of Georgia. Delusions of grandeur. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

        • ๐ŸŽถ I was born in the Georgia Pineywoods…Fifteen miles from the grocery store
No TV or gold plated shiney goods….Cracked linoleum on the floor…๐ŸŽถ. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  8. Hi, all! Off to Walmart with Jerry so Iโ€™ll make this quick! I was on a dead run while solving the adorable cartoon with twins who had decided to DOUBLE BACK and the first three clue words, but them I hit the palace wall which stunned me for a minute. My time was excellent at 3:34, however, because I got to back into the PALACE.

Fun Jumble puzzle to start Monday off right. I think BLURB is a funny word. Enjoy your day, all!!

    • Hi Lelia – Please keep imagining my yard as a cultivated English garden! The reality is somewhat less impressive; it needs some cleaning up. The beauty of it is that the flowers bloom and thrive in spite of me rather than because of anything I do. Funny though, right after I mentioned confusing hyacinth, hibiscus and hydrangea, I walked past a cafe that had its specials listed on a sidewalk sign, and one of them was a hibiscus Mimosa, which Iโ€™d never heard of.
It also occurred to me that the drawback of playing โ€œRain Songโ€ as a wedding processional is that if you wanted to perform the whole thing, the aisle would have to be about 10 miles long.

    • Hi, Lelia! I agree that PALACE was the only word that made this puzzle challenging. I hope you enjoyed your shopping trip and look forward to hearing your thoughts on todayโ€™s game. Have a super day!!! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚
