GEAGF – GAFFE

RNOWS – SWORN

LASRWU – WALRUS

ZECIRO – COZIER

CARTOON ANSWER: HER CAT SLEPT ON HER SWEATER, AND NOW IT WAS – –

AFESWRWRUOER = WORSE “FUR” WEAR

Good Morning, Everyone!       🐱 HAIR Today, Gone Tomorrow?…🐱

🎶 Baby, baby, WEAR did our love go? And all your promises of a love forevermore?…I’ve got this burning, burning, yearning feelin’ inside me…Ooh, deep inside me, and it hurts so bad…🎶

🐱 The cat tried to get COZIER though this could be a GAFFE
And maybe he should just have stayed on the couch’s other half.
But he was in the middle there…where the sweater she had left
And now our girl takes just one look and she’s feeling bereft…
She’d SWORN to be more careful, and put her clothes away,
But here we see forgetfulness is causing her to say…
“My outfit’s ruined, now how am I supposed to look so chic…
And this was the last sweater at the new WALRUS Boutique!
I’ll need to find another look, this sweater’s full of hair…
It just won’t do, cause like my couch, now its just WORSE “FUR” WEAR”! 🐱

Looking at today’s words, I’ve a strong feeling that GAFFE may cause a little head SCRATCHING. And COZIER some discomfort. Having recently used Gaffe in a story I’m working on, it caused me no PAWS, but it’s not an everyday word. And Cozier has that Zero thing going on…Nothing that couldn’t be solved, but again, perhaps a PAWS….

Ok, let’s get to our cartoon, and see if we can SHED some light on today’s solution. Oh no! A CAT?…Not again! PAW Jeff...We see our girl, KAT, and she’s lamenting the loss of her new mauve sweater, with the PURRple trim. Her CAT, NIP, finding the sweater just lying around, decided it was the PURRfect place to fall asleep. But nothing could be WORSE. The sweater’s now full of FURry hair, and it’s ruined. And you know who’s the PURRpatrator! But, we see NIP just looking up, probably thinking…”WAUL it is FURniture, right? LITTERally? So I just found the ideal PAWSition and fell asleep…It was this or the carPET“. Whatever. All we know is that now, one of KAT’s newest PAWsessions is ruined…And our question asks…What’s the sweater now? WORSE “FUR” WEAR! WAUL, PAW KAT a NIP, and put it on David’s TAB..BY cause we’re done! Good one, Dave!

So, eye candy. We have the SCRATCHING POST. And we can see the LITTER BOX in the other room, through the archway…But no, I don’t find either of them FURmidable. I’m going with the look on NIP’s face…What a PUSS! So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And keep in mind that it’s a good practice to hang up your clothes…Just beCLAWS…🐱🙋🏻

  1. The judge with a WALRUS mustache was SWORN in recently and made a slight GAFFE when he demanded COZIER chambers
GAFFE is not a common word and I paused slightly but it was COZIER that gave me the longest musing. Finally got it but had to write the letters out, unusual for me. The solution was fairly obvious, in spite of the number of circled letters.and the quotation marks.
I especially like your poem today Angela,—great use of the clue words and solution.
Too bad the cat in the cartoon was not Siamese—we could have had the old song, “We are Siamese, if you please, We are Siamese, if you don’t please.” Don’t recall where it comes from? A Disney movie???

    • Good Morning, Earl. You’re right, a Disney movie. It’s from “Lady and the Tramp”. I watched it with the Littles just a week or so ago, and it’s still adorable after all these years! Good guess, and great sentence! Not easy words to blend together today, but you’ve offered up a PURRfect efFURt! Kudos, Sir! As you can see, I chose your same two words as the ones which may cause the most MEWsing today, as you so eloquently phrased. Intentional? 😉 Cozier came immediately though, since Cozy is a word I use quite often. Thank you very much for the poem shout out…The only word I thought might CATch me was Walrus, but I managed to NAIL it! Have a good one, Earl! 🐱🙋🏻

    • Yes, you’re right, HM! Si and Am were both voiced by Peggy Lee. In fact, being the perfectionist that she was, she did two separate recordings, one for each voice! 🐱🙋🏻

  2. Another big thank you to Harry and Angela for reminding me of one of my favourites—Peggy Lee. Unique is often misused but in her case, unique best describes her voice.

    • Yes, Earl, she was unique indeed. And her rendition of 🎶Fever🎶? …Phew! Says it all, huh? 😉 🙋🏻

  3. Good morning. Angela and Earl, thank you for your input everyday. You guys always come through, like Sanchez did for the Yankees yesterday. The words today were little trouble except for cozier. I had it down after a couple of minutes but didn’t think I was right. Finally after a half hour I checked all the words and found out I was correct. In doing the cartoon I noticed fur among the letters then wear. The left overs gave me the first word. The answer for me was “The cats meow “. My official seal of approval, not that it matters. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good morning, Brooklyn. And thank you, I’ll be more than happy to take the comparison to Sanchez…That boy’s on fuego, right? 🔥🔥Great finish. So far today, Cozier’s the head SCRATCHER. I had 5 calls this morning before 5 o’clock asking about it…Seems like no one sleeps…Maybe they CATch some CAT naps during the day! 😉 And I think that FUR’s going to be like a given today…it just popped right off the page. Helped FURther along the solution! Glad you approve, Bud, CAT’S MEOW is right! Have a good one! 🐱🙋🏻

  4. Cozier had me stumped, but having solved the puzzle, worse “fur” wear,I could work backwards to the cozier solution.

    • Hey Chuck. Cozier seems to be CATching everyone today. It looks like it’s harder than the solution! Have a good one! 🐱🙋🏻

  5. Count me in with cozier being problematic . However, like Chuck, I backed into it after figuring out the cartoon answer. Think we had three quotation mark puzzles this week. Clever!! Happy Friday everyone.

    • Yes, we did. Monday, Wednesday, and today. I wonder if that’s a record? Maybe if Jeff’s looking in, he can SHED some light on the subject! And Cozier just keeps racking up those numbers! Have a good one, Betty! 🐱🙋🏻

  6. Hi – Like others cozier took me the longest. I got it when trying different possible word endings.
I didn’t know gaff is also a word.

    • It’s a landslide! 😂 😂 Hi Caroline! I use the word so often with the kids, that I saw it right away, but it’s proving to be the Achilles Heel today! I’ve always told them, “C’mon, let’s get cozy” when we’ve watched TV, and now it’s become a game of who gets “cozier”. I guess it’s proving not to be an everyday word either, just like Gaffe. The other Gaff, I know of because of sailing and fishing, but it’s another word you don’t hear used very often. Good CATch! Hope you have a great day! 🐱🙋🏻

      • Cozier – sounds like a fun game for the kids.
There are certain words like GAFFE that I’m not certain how to spell because I hear them but don’t often see them in writing.

        • Hey Caroline, it is. I’m a cuddler! I try to make everything a game with them. Kids need to laugh. We all need to laugh! I tried “cocooning” on them, but it didn’t fly. Some of the littler ones had trouble pronouncing it. Especially the two with the tiny lisps! Sometimes I can hardly keep a straight face! 😂 My sisters-in-law keep telling me that “these kids are all starting to sound like you. They repeat everything you say…”. Caroline, they should only know what these kids tell me! 😂 Talk about Glass Houses! Kids have ears (and memories) like elephants! LOL!!! Gaffe is hardly written OR heard in my opinion. As I said, I just recently used it in a story I’m working on, so that’s why it just appeared to me immediately. But I don’t think I’ve ever had a conversation where the word came up. As for the other Gaff, unless you sail or fish, I doubt you’d ever come across it. But it does pop up in a crossword puzzle now and then. The Jumble serves us well, right? It’s not just entertaining, it’s educational to boot! Hope you’re enjoying your night! 🙋🏻

          • Hey Angela and Caroline, remember Art Linkletter – “Kids say the darndest things”?
Especially when he would ask “What did your mommy tell you not to say?” 😂🙋🏻‍♂️

            • Hey Steve…I don’t remember it, but for the record, I would never ask the kids anything. They just talk. Which is why I’m careful what I say around them…the little sponges! 😂🙋🏻

  7. Hi all – I got GAFFE and COZIER, but didn’t quite believe it until no other words worked. Then I doubted them again when I couldn’t see the answer after getting FUR, but a couple of minutes staring at it finally worked.

Inventing a digit to represent nothing was a ZEROIC achievement!
“I am the eggman. They are the eggmen. I am the WALRUS.” Gesundheit!

Cat hair, scratching post, cat box in the bathroom, all a way of life to be accepted if you have cats. (That almost turned into a Little Feat lyric – “Fat man in the bathtub, with the blues.”)

I’m glad that I’ve been saying nice things about the Golden Knights all season, or I’d have to be eating words along with my shark-and-crow sushi this morning. Is that what they call “hedging your bets”? If the Sharks can’t turn it around, Go Vegas, let us witness history.
    Have a great weekend.

    • COO COO CA CHOO!!! LOL…Hey, G. Did you know that the Eggman was Eric Burdon from the Animals? 🎶Rising SON🎶, indeed! 😉And then, of course, there was always the “Is Paul the Walrus”? Controversy…But maybe it’s DEAD by now! 😉 WHO knows? Zeroic! 👏🏻👏🏻. You know I put the Litter Box in my post, but I wasn’t thinking bathroom, because there doesn’t seem to be a door, right? I couldn’t be sure…No to the hedging your bets. That’s another whole can of WORMS! Have a good one, Bud! 🐱🙋🏻

      • No, I didn’t know about Eric Burdon. I’ll do some more reading, thanks!
“Here’s another clue for you all – the walrus was Paul.” Another savory addition to my breakfast – I’ll sprinkle some GLASS ONION on it. At this rate, I’ll be on a “diet of Worms”, with musical accompaniment by a luthier named Martin, perhaps on a HAMMER dulcimer.

        “I buried Paul” .. not! 🙋🏻‍♂️

        • I could be wrong, it’s a long, long time ago. But he headed the Animals, right? So I’m pretty sure it’s him. In fact, I think Paul gave him the name. John had everybody going with Glass Onion…That WALRUS had nothing on Paul! 😉 They both laughed all the way to the bank…😉 And Martin guitars? According to my brother, the finest LOL..Hammered Dulcimer..or Maxwells Silver? Later, G! 🙋🏻
